Got a bit inspired yesterday when working on music for our church's service live stream and wrote this jig inspired by "Christ the Lord is Risen Today! Played on my Chris Wilkes Bb. Happy Easter! Blayne
Ellis Flutes from Low Bb to F!

so far the first flute and the roasted curly maple e flat are my fav, the last one was nice too though, they all were in there own way,
I heard the first 2 octaves from your video and I was really impressed by Bach execution and intonation. I am wondering if the third octave is so impressive too, if it works so nicely and easily like the first two including the third F natural without the f key help and the upper A. Does the bach partita might be played up to the end? I know that irish flutes plays normaly up to the third D and don't care the upper register while classic music normally do. Thx for your support. Hey Fabio! I don't currently have one in the shop to try this on. I'm sure it would play fine in the 3rd octave as it's a faithful reproduction of a Pratten. I've actually not had trouble on any Irish flute playing in the 3rd octave. I will say that smaller holed/bored flutes often times are easier and have perhaps a cleaner 3rd octave but I've never come across an "Irish" flute that didn't play at least "ok" in the 3rd.

Sound lovely but they look bland as hell it's like playing the handle of a brush you think he'd be a bit more creative with the design. Aesthetics are important too.

my goodness $799,99 for a 3d printed plastic flute?! that is just criminal. why not get a genuine wooden irish flute at that point.
Where are you going to find a 6 or 8 key wooden flute for that price? I haven't seen it.
@@lonnieezell I'm sure you could find a second hand keyed wooden flute for that price. in fact looking at eBay i saw a 6 keyed flute going for around $300 besides. its 3d printed plastic. its not like this is a lengthy process and its hand crafted out of a piece of cured wood by a renowned artisan... you could probably churn this out for less than $60 given you had the files. that's probably the reason they don't sell the files.
@@downey2294If you think those Ebay keyed flutes actually are playable musical instruments you are in for a surprise.
Blayne - Any reason not to get one of these as a primary D for Irish sessions? Sounds like they can be ordered with a tuning slide. Though you made a comment elsewhere about cross-fingering maybe not being great?
Could work for sure. From memory, the cross finger's C nat 0xx 000 is nicely in tune.

sounds cool... Does it have inner metal tube in the head or not? Hope they come with a more traditional black or wooden tone, sounds great and very useful
Headjoint is unlined. White is used as the material prints more accurately than the black. Black would be nice though!
@@TheIrishFluteStore could be some black coating instead of black material also, but that would be another process and material added, looks nice in clone trooper white anyway 💖

Hi very interesting flutes! I'm wondering how durable these are with the constant humidity of playing? Would the plastic swell with the moisture and put them out of tune after a while?

Well, this IS an interesting development! I'm curious what the weight is like compared to a delrin instrument or even a blackwood with the metal keys. How's it feel to play? It sounds really good!
Weight seems similar. Different feel of course than blackwood but to be expected. Overall impressed!
The fact that this can be printed left-handed with pretty much zero effort -- just flip the parity on the file -- brings me infinite joy. When a C foot becomes doable, I'm THERE.

how is the 3rd octave tuning..?
Does anyone have a name for the reel at 8:00 it's on the tip of my tongue, i know it from some where...so many tunes !! Great sounding flutes by the way.

Hi! I'm really interested in buying one of these. I wondered if you'd be able to tell me whether these flutes work with any kind of cross fingering or half-holing? I recently started out on a bamboo flute, and want to find some good quality wood or bamboo flutes for reaching different keys. Since buying quality flutes for every key would be very costly, I'm looking into flutes that can be played in multiple keys. Is that possible with the Ellis Essential flutes?
You can half hole though your mileage may vary depending on the key. These flutes play best in major keys (or relative modes) built off the 1st, 4th and 5th degrees. For ex. A D flute, will play well in D, G and A major - if that makes sense.
