Audi Oil and filter change - DIY - 2010 Audi A4/A5 2.0T
Переглядів 1,6 тис.4 роки тому
Thank you for watching: An Audi 2010 A5 takes 4.9 quarts of fully synthetic oil if the filter is changed. There is no oil dipstick, so to check the oil level, bring the engine to operating temperature, shut the engine off, wait two minutes and push the "Car" function button on the side of the information screen on the dash. Scroll to Oil Level and a reading will show.

Hi and welcome to my channel! First video of the 2010 A5 series. I recently bought a nice looking 2010 Audi A5 (106k miles) for what I consider a low price, here is everything that came wrong with it. In this video we traced the leak on the engine to the valve cover, we also replaced the spark plugs. Please like, share adn commnet. Thank you for watching. 2010 Audi A5 (B8) - Valve cover gasket ...

BMW K100 Project - Speedometer upgrade (part 1)
Переглядів 10 тис.4 роки тому
Upgrading my speedometer to an aftermarket one. Replacing the classic lunchbox speedometer with a digital speedo from Amazon. Using Marulabs BEP 3.0.
Would this cause the inner part of the spark plugs that goes to the cylinder to get covered with oil?
You should not install "no name" speedometers from China. Marulabs writes on its homepage which speedometers (computers) work without problems. These are all from Acewell and many others. Cheap imports from the Far East usually do not give the signal for speed, rpm and gear selection. You need a good knowledge of electronics to outwit the computer here. The Marulab box is not really designed for this.
NCS, do you have updates on how that car is doing? Im assuming, since the video is still here, the job was successful?
Piece of shit video !
Would the valve cover leak also cause a coolant leak?
I dont think so. My 1.8 petrol needed a water pump change when I had a leak..cost me nearly 400 quid. It could be something else tho but I dint think this would cause coolant leak.
Just a heads up you need to lock in the cams. The valve cover holds them in. Do not do this job without locking them in or you will be buying a new top end.
How do you lock them in place?
You need a special tool that Audi sells.
@@exploringwithdan7876you talking about for doing a timin chain. the chain is holdin the cams. and at that time u would need to hold cams. but for the valve cover gasket. the valve cover is not holding the cams.
i cant get the valve cover back on .. the top corner wont go back down far enough. im stuck plz help
@@fastturbo418 sorry just seeing this, yes just to do a valve cover gasket, you do need to lock in the cams. I’ve done this job before. I’m guessing you never done this job before because you wouldn’t be saying that. Once you take the valve cover off the cams will pop up just like in this video. I’m just trying to save people money.
I had to replace 2 valve gasket covers on my V8 S5. Along with intake filter and also all 8 spark plugs were replaced. I ordered the valve cover gaskets through Oreilly's. It took me almost 9 hours to finish the job by myself. I saved a shit ton of money doing it on my own. But damn, my day was gone. lol
You coolant reservoir looks low. I would check for coolant leaks...plastic water pump known to be a problem on 2.0 engines.
Your link isn't working.
I now own this bike! Would greatly appreciate if you could tell me a little more about it when you have time
VVVV Good Job.
Hi, do you have a link for the connector selection box you use in the video to connect the speedo up? thanks
So you didn't lock the cams? Any issues with timing following?
Dude does it in 10 minutes. Took me over 2 hours just to take the valve cover off. 😉
Thats video editing my boy. Looks like it took him all day- you can see the sun setting. But yeahhh how was the job n hows ur car?
Would the car misfire prior to this video?
is there any timing related when undoing the cover? . It seems like the valve cover pushes on the cams?
Did you figure it out? I can’t figure out how to put the cover back on
What did you end up doing?
And what about the timing chain and the tensioner?
That’s my question too. Was JUST about to do it and then seen that
I was wondering the same thing... That tension was supposed to be pen. Now, I wonder if the car jump timing
Yea they didn’t lock in the cams. You can tell in the video they popped up. They should say that in the video so people don’t mess up their car. It’s not just a valve cover it also holds in the cams.
Do you have to let it dry? Or can you place it right away?
Place it right away and then let it dry few hours.
NCS projects did you replaced the valve cover bolts? I need to do the same procedure and it seems like everybody is reusing the same bolts without adding the 90° turn, did you just torque them to spec without the degrees?? Thank you for your answer in advance!
Can you post the video slowed down a bit? 😂
You can slow it to half the speed on UA-cam
What kind of sealant did you use
ECS tuning has few options. They sell a kit with everything you need including the sealant or just the sealant.
How did you connect the gears and neutral?
If you have a computer tested by Marulab, the connections are available both on the computer itself and on the Marulabs box. Each gear has its own input. With cheap self-imports from the Far East, you have to connect something in between to get a signal from the speed and the rpm that calculates itself. This is a considerable electronic effort. Neutral switches should also be available on cheap devices. The appropriate connection can be found on the Marulab box.
video sucks, didnt show what tools to use, how to fix it or anything, just some goofy fast forwarded video of a 2 day job
Thank you for the feedback.
If you’re mechanically inclined, he showed you everything except for torque specs. This is not for beginners. Spend the money.
Agree.
Totally agree with other resposes.
How much is the price to fix it
valve cover kit is less than a $100 FCP or ECS. I'd go with FCP cause of their lifetime warranty. Spark plugs are pretty reasonable too.
Omg looks absolutely filthy 🤣
The torque link doesn’t work. You have another one?
What about your oil consumption v
These Gentlemen know there Stuff. I just bought a 2012 Audi A5 and Amazon just delivered my 5W - 40 Liqui Moly today, and I came across this video. It must be a sign! If your gonna flip foreign whips you gotta get foreign Oil too.
Did you shorten (cut, re-attach the connectors) the bundles of wires going from the computer up to the 2 large connectors into the back of instrument cluster?
I wouldn't do it that way. Sure, it's possible, but it's a hell of a job to reconnect everything. Lay the wiring harness in a curve (or loop) under the tank, then you don't have to shorten anything.
Well if the video was any faster might be able to see what's going on.
Thank you 😊 my audi A5 2011 is leaking into my coil spark plug pack jajaja
Is it smoking a Lil ?
@@brock2872 i had to make a gasket for it
@@blahdue875 really ? They don’t sell them?
@@brock2872 nope this type of Audi 2011 A5 you have to make the gasket. Took a day to do. Just be careful some parts are extremely difficult to do.. . . .
Are the intake valves easy to access while doing this repair I was thinking about having them changed as well?
Bro wtf? Sure just yank em out lol sorry but you'd have to pull the head to access the valves
Hi, How's your Mini? Did the rattle ever return? I have a similar problem and thinking about changing tensioner. When I start my Mini Countryman on a cold morning, it rattles intermittently then goes away when it warms up.
Not the same for LR2, the whole front grill is one piece.
Hi. Sorry. I have a k100. Do you know how to make a digital speedometer recognise the three yellow/others wires and the ground to connect to de speedo. BMW K100 doesn’t have six wires for gears. I’m getting crazy with that.
You might try this cafe4racer.eu/en/bmw-cap-monza-universal-parts/888-ebaling-neutral-start-on-bmw-k100-k1100-k75-series-acewell.html But not sure if this will show the gear number in the speedo when you switch the gear.
How did you manage to remove the valve cover so easily? I have followed this entire procedure and I am stuck on lifting the cover off. I removed the timing chain cover, I took off the PCV valve and 20 other bolts, unbolted the HPFP and I can only manage to pry it half way. It has become to peel diagonally, but it feels almost as if it's still bolted down. Any help is appreciated
Did you unbolted the Vacuum pump too, it's besides HPFP
@@TeamNoRule is there an easier way to reinstall the vacuum pump? I'm stuck trying to reinstall that stupid vacuum pump.
I am having same issue as yours. Did you remove the cover eventually?
@@kyleformosa1847 I find that you have to line the keyway on the vacuum pump so that it will slide in to allow you to put the screws on. I found it the hard way and almost have to buy a new valve cover. Hope that helps ;)
@@MyDeere3320 I have my vacuum pump completely off and the valve cover is getting stuck on the lobes of the lower cam. And ideas??
Steady hand on that pour, good job dude
How many hours of labor ? & what is the average price should a mechanic charge for this process??
flag rate on this job calls for 7 hrs. they want you to release the timing chain tension and remove hpfp completely
@@richmccue4053 which you don’t need to do??
So good to found the video, I’m come from Hong Kong. I’m gonna change it on my own, but can you share the link of showing torque required? It would be much better for those who DIY.

So you have to make your own gasket? I’m out here looking and searching everywhere for a valve cover gasket for my 2010 Audi A4 b8.
Yes, using the proper gasket maker paste.

Very informative! I'm having the same issue with my Audi A5 : (

Finally a good video on my question. I looked all over and couldn't find a gasket for my 2009 Audi A4 2.0t A/T B8 and come to find out there isn't one, you have to make one using a sealer. Thank you for the infovid.
hi i have an audi that has the same problem and is the same engine as yours a4 2.0t tsfi engine i would like to know what silicone you used thank you
Thanks for making a good video. I'll try it.^^
I have an oil leak and it looks like it’s coming down from the right side I’m thinking of resealing the valve cover gasket but I’m not sure if that’s where it is coming from.
Remove the plastic cover and check all around the valve cover. Another leak i found was coming from the oil return line gasket, that is much easier to fix. I'd recommend first checking the valve cover. Good luck, let me know if you have any question.
NCS Projects thanks for the help
