DEEP WATER WALLEYE AT CRAWLING VALLEY
We caught and released 21 Walleye and Northern Pike, most of them from depths of 20 - 40 feet. Very unusual for this lake as we normally have our best success in 6 - 15 feet of water.
Sorry for the lack of an intro, we had an issue with the SD card on the camera.

    It’s an amazing lake me and my family have a property on McGregor and I have learned a lot In my time fishing here my biggest tip is to be in 9-12 feet of water just outside a large weed bed casting curly tails at sunset this will make you catch an insane amount of walleye

    Love all your videos, uncut and unedited. Just like how all of us fish and have fun. However that one lipless crank bait you have refered to as firetiger-brown trout, can't find it any where. Share that secret and I wil give you 4 locations at Newell that will bring in 20 pound pike and 10 pound walleye, including the technique and lure. September long we landed 3 pike over 20 pounds (one day) and walleye that were between 4 to 9 pounds.

      @@doylehansen6076 Thank you for sharing one of your hot spot locations, you appear to be a man of your word. I totally forgot that we can fish Lake Newell at any time of the day, unlike Crawling Valley Reservoir and Lake McGregor which limit us from sunrise to sunset. I find it very interesting that you are having great success trolling at only 1.4 mph (our usual speed is 2 to 2.5 mph). Thank you as well for the tip on the Z-Man Swimbaitz length and colours (damn but they are expensive though). Which styles and weights of jig-heads do you have the most success with? What pound test and type of line are you using? How long of a leader is recommended and of which material (monofilament, fluorocarbon, braided, or steel)? In the future, please feel free to ask questions about any of the lakes that we fish and the techniques that we use. Tight lines and keep on having fun! With respect, Kelly.

    • @420since1974
      @420since1974 Рік тому

      The Bass Pro/Cabala's Tourney lip-less crank-bait runs at 5 - 7 feet deep. They also sell a "shad rap style" crank-bait that runs 10 - 12 feet deep. We have caught fish on all the available colours, but the Golden Tiger is the only one with reflective foil under the paint. It consistently out-fishes the other colours by at least 10 to 1. I think that it mimics a juvenile Walleye.

    Why do you use a lip grip on every walleye?

    • @420since1974
      @420since1974 2 роки тому

      It makes them so much easier to handle. They become very docile and are easier to unhook safely. It's like lipping a Bass or turning a Trout upside down. But, it doesn't work at all with Northern Pike. They just get angry and thrash around like crazy.

    • @byk4evr1
      @byk4evr1 2 роки тому

      @@420since1974 I disagree, . They are not hard to hold and generally stop thrashing as soon as you have grabbed them, To each there own I guess, but when you are catching walleye with destroyed mouths, you will know why.

      @420since1974 2 роки тому

However, I will say that with the lip gripper that we have been using, I have never seen any damage at all to a Walleye's mouth in 4 years of use. Pike are another matter altogether and I no longer use it on them. Peace and tight lines!
