I applied to my local for reinforcement, we're a separate local fron structural. If I get in, would kneepads be useful rather than bending over to save my back? Or will your boots and knees fall in between the rods and its easier to just bend over instead?
you guys are quick. how do you fellas feel about the stick twister? im just getting back into concrete and while nips are good, I used the stick twister for a bit and its really good and slightly less bending over.
@@Calihoodjournal4 what local you going into? I’m through local 8 Milwaukee, I’m a 2nd year apprentice but it’s pretty straight forward , just knowing how to place rebar on the marks and you have so many different ties , I recommend you get some 9s Klein pliers instead of 7s, it’ll be so much better and rip your spring out , real iron workers don’t use that spring lol , over here our starting pay scale is at 26 for a first year apprentice, a journeyman right now is I believe at 46 the hour but some jobs are paying up to 55 , hope you the best, it is good money but tough work man

I cut and bend rebar, I always wondered what happened after the fact. I thought my job was hard until I saw this video. But we do sell re bar tying guns at our facility that can tie up a piece of rebar in half the time. I showed it off to some rod busters that came through and they've never looked back. Well worth the investment and less carpal tunnel.
Rebar tie guns make what kind of tie? A snap tie only as far as the ones I have seen, they are great when that is all you need but in many circumstances you need a different tie like a figure 8 or a saddle or either one of those with a wrap, or any of the above in double wire, hence unless the work your are doing is all snap ties they are useless, not to mention when many of the tie machines were brought out to demo on the job I was able to out run them! I will concede that is not the norm, but I am a 4th generation master iron worker with over 16 years in the rod patch and many more as supervision, building poured in place high rise buildings, tilt panel buildings and bridges among other things (-;
@@whitey22222 yes only snap ties, but I'd recommend the Max twin tier it doubles up but yes it only does snap ties, but a lot of youngins coming into the field don't have the experience you do, and they certainly will be slower without the guns. @@whitey22222 that’s what I thought too but if you watch the guy in the high vis shirt he only does a single loop tie. So the tie gun would work fine here. We always have to saddle tie though

Is there some device that wheels over the bars where a worker can lay in a position and tie ? To save back
