whaaaaaat?! amazing!
Did you know they make bitter chapstick thats designed to prevent you from unconsciously biting or sucking your lips? It really worked for me. I used to have a cut on my bottom lip like that all the time too
Thanks! This is a little different from that though, I actually don't do that. It's actually healed over skin from a little patch of inflammation that used to be there as my body gets used to my bone marrow transplant. Sometimes small things pop up and go away like that!
Rattle rattle
I need some goddamn space. As a lefty, guitar manufacturers treat us like an afterthought and I’ve always wanted to get into luthiery to make my dream guitars. I want that left handed, 7 string, Floyd Rose, hot-swappable pickup, unique stained angular guitar with all the bells and whistles.
Say this three times fast: " The different sets of pickups"
Wat is that guitar?
Awesome ❤👍🏻
Nah way to much magnets on the strings
What about a 7 and 8 string version
Thanks to Rhett Shull for letting me use this video! I thought he brought up a good point about cheaper pickups. There's definitely a big difference on quality depending on the brand. It's not entirely about price, of course, moreso about the manufacturer themselves. Particularly for pickups, you usually get what you pay for. There a noticeable difference in the build quality of the higher-tier manufactures/models vs the mid-tier and low-end hardware. Guitars are available now on fernguitars.com.
I didn’t know Eminem played guitar 😂
ever tired of the fact theres no guns in music? well... BOOM, NOW YOU CAN RELOAD A GUITAR AND SHOOT GUNS AND ROSES GUITAR VERSION
I want side ways pickups on my piano!
The sideways pickups.... I wanted to like them. Poo.
Your right eye is cool
You should make a V shaped guitar with the Modules
Not out of the realm of possibility. It'd be a while before I can jump on that since it'd have to be an entirely new module shape to fit a V. I'm certainly not against it, though.
@@fernguitarswhy not to design a body that fits the modules instead a whole new module design for a new body design?
Bro, a scratchplate is already modular.
What pickups in the second buckers?
It's the JB Trembucker for the bridge!
La compraría
I NEED this
Sounds like the twin peaks theme
Boy, I wish we had standards for connectors...
There's no need for his system, all the electronics are built into the module. The only connection to the guitar is a grounding point for the bridge.
I rather put a small multi effect in my gig bag..
Sideways ....like an Asian woman
I think it could be more user friendly by incorporating a way to store these modules neatly, since they don't seem to really have a flat edge anywhere aside from the bottom
I’m gonna have to check out your site, I love the idea of customizing my guitar but I don’t know how to work with electronics, so this is perfect!
Cool! Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any issues, I'm working on a big redesign right now.
Checking out your website when I get home tonight. I'd totally loveee to see what different pickup styles can be done! 🎉
So for those stock modules-anything from Seymour Duncan that fits in the slot can be done! I would only charge extra if there's a price difference between the stock set, otherwise it's no prob to put in whatever. Perks of making 'em from scratch!
My guy has a speed loading pickup cluster 😂
If i ever need to split my high e and my low e between two amps, that'll be the day i quit being a guitarist.
These could be so much better if they didn’t cost so much. I would rather get a $1700 guitar I know is good than taking a gamble on this. Plus each module cost as much as a Mexican strat, kinda nuts.
That's what I said also I can get entire guitars that I can garuntee have quality for a lower price
@ shit my homie just got a Japanese fender from the 80’s for less than $600 the other day. I’d rather have that.
You can't really make guitars in the US for much cheaper. It's the same price as most other major brands' USA models. Though mine has the USA Duncans, which usually are actually a cut above that price point. Fender and Gibson, for example, use their own pickups. Duncans are what a lot of folks upgrade to and come stock with mine.
@ I get it, it would be nice to see some more budget friendly options for modules. Or at least blank ones where people can put their Own pickups in.
@ Totally get that. Unfortunately that'd mean dealing with a factory overseas, which would ironically be very expensive on my end to set up as a smaller company. Maybe some day-not against it at all. Just not feasible right now.
BROOOOOO!!! I'll send money right now for a 5 string 35" scale!!!!
I’d genuinely rather have a made in Mexico or Japan, heck even Indonesian guitars compared to us Every overseas guitar I’ve played has felt way better to me than any guitar made in the us that I’ve played Mexican fenders make me feel funny, and I’m an Ibanez fanboy so that’s saying something lol
No problems with that! It's all about preference in the end. My workhorse for years was an excellent Korean-made guitar that I picked up used for $250. I also snagged an insanely good Yamaha acoustic when I lived in Japan, which unfortunately I couldn't bring back home with me.
@@fernguitars awe man that sucks! I still love me a good us guitar, but I feel like nowadays there's less effort and craftsmanship put into them unfortunately. I can definitely tell your guitars have amazing craftsmanship though! so I guess its more so a problem with big companys cheaping out!
Second idea is really fantastic. In my opinion, a guitar with multiple pickups is the versatile guitar until constructed.
It’s cool that you did this but will you stop milking it every chance you get
Except american guitars now are often worse than many import brands.
You showed someone from the 70s this video and they would have exploded
lol you would be a Midwest emo style guy…
How does it effect sustain though?
It doesn't, so far as I can tell and test. Timed a previous prototype with a tune-o-matic bridge vs my other guitar with the same bridge/scale length and the sustain was almost exactly the same down to the millisecond.
Cool!! so you could travel with say 6 ¨guitars¨all in one single small case.. even mount your own personalised version. epic!
Yeah man this is a bunch of bogus and its why these companies keep rinsing guitar players . People get rinsed and then swear by the "quality" shit thats been spouted at them so they feel a bit less bad for the exorbitant amounts of money they wasted . Wood , proven to do nothing , pickups proven to do nothing , stainless steel frets offered by cheap brands , shielding may not be as good but costs nearly nothing to shield a cheap guitar and reflects nowhere near in price. Notice how everything said in this video was said... and not shown
Too much magnification with those pickups sideways will affect the strings reverberations probably not in a good way…
Yeah I’ll stick to EMGs
Baja tele enters the chat....
Thank you, Guitar Linus.
I want this so bad. I do a lot of recording, and there is a certain comfort in knowing that the neck is the same, the scale length exactly 100% the same, just different pups. I hope something like this comes in production soon.
It's in production right now-just launched a couple of months ago. My lead time is about ~90 days since I make them from scratch! You can get it @ fernguitars.com
Every paycheck i should thank myself for forgetting that this brand exists jesus christ. Keep being cool dude im glad you made the modular guitar. Super cool concept
I wish
Switching to your uke is faster that reloading
I’ve always thought the neck pickup should be angled. In some guitars they are, but the wrong way. I’d do bass side toward the bridge and treble side toward the neck. Maybe even just one giant angled pick up that starts the near the bridge and ends near the neck. That way the lower notes are still clear but the higher notes are full and round. In my head it could open the potential for no pickup selector. I’ll have to try it some day and see if I’m crazy or not or maybe someone here can enlighten me 😂
In regards to the angle, there's really no wrong answers as long as the magnets are properly under the strings. The position makes a difference in the tone, so if it results in something you prefer over another configuration, it's the right answer for your setup! There are certainly reasons to angle it, and not angle it. Angling the bridge pickup, for example, like on a tele or strat mellows out the low notes a bit while keeping the high notes nice and twangy. So if you angled the neck pickup, you could achieve the same affect and modulate how bright /dark/mellow/harsh your neck pickup sounds. It's really just down to preference.
You didn't come up with this idea I've seen a guitar like that 15 years ago.
