⛰️ Bennett Gap Shred ⛰️ | Pisgah Nat'l Forest | DH MTB
This is a downhill mountain biking video of the trail, Bennett Gap, located within Pisgah National Forest. This is the Ranger District of Pisgah National Forest. This video does show an example of each of the very technical features along Bennett Gap.
Be sure to watch until the end because Lower Bennett provides some excellent, action-packed footage on this one!
Directions: You're able to park at the horse stables parking lot along Avery Creek gravel road. You bike straight up Avery Creek to the Bennett Gap trail, which is about 3.5 miles of climbing. Then, travel straight down the Bennett Gap Trail, and you will eventually hit the Avery Creek gravel road at the end. Then, take a left on Avery Creek back up to the horse stables parking lot.

This is POV footage from race day at Ride Rock Creek, a test event for the Enduro Southeast series. This is a new trail system that I highly recommend that is opening in December '22 to the public. It will be shuttle-assisted. Stages 2 and 3 are a bit less clear than stage 1, but it's still an adequate preview to check out the trails. Enjoy!

      @@mtb_carolina heck yeah man! Pisgah is great! I live in Roanoke VA and went there for a few days. Had fun but did struggle finding my way around, lol! It would be great if you could drop location and loop. Or is Trailforks the best way to navigate out there? Thanks🤘

    • @mtb_carolina
      @mtb_carolina Рік тому

      That's a great idea to start posting the loops so that people will know the navigation if they want to get out and ride Pisgah, which is the whole reason this channel was created. 😂 Thanks for mentioning that. I'll start putting it in the video descriptions. Credit to mtbproject.com for these directions. This is the Spencer Gap-Trace Ridge Loop on their site. Park at the Trace Ridge Trail #354 trailhead and ride back down the forest road entrance, turning left onto Wash Creek Rd. At mile 2.7, take a left at a gated forest road onto Spencer Gap Trail #600. Around 2.9 miles in, make a right to stay on Spencer Gap Trail #600. This trail turns into singletrack from here on out. At mile 4.4, make a left onto Trace Ridge Trail #354. This is a short, steep ride to the top of Trace Ridge at mile 4.7. From here, enjoy an almost 1,000 ft singletrack descent back to the parking lot. Then, to hit bear branch...you climb back up wash creek through the gate, take a right on to the next gravel road, which is called "Mostah Mills", and then Bear Branch will be a couple miles in on your right. It's clear that it is a trail. You'll see one right that fokrs off that is super overgrown and is flat when you enter it, don't use that one. Then you drop back in to wash creek, take a left through the gate, and then right back up the gravel road to get to the vehicle. 🤙🤙

      Such a tough call. Both? Haha. Black Mountain is much easier to access and loop. Avery is typically more of a shuttle. Avery has more jumps, black mountain has more flow. Both are pretty technical and a whole lotta fun. You won’t go wrong with either. Have fun! If it were me by myself, I usually do black. If you’re with a group and can shuttle, then I think Avery is the play. Hope that helps!

    Hoping one day soon, Dupont and Pisgah will take a more enlightened view to e bikes, I used to not be a fan of them but even though I have ridden most of Pisgah and Dupont on a regular bike, age has got to my knees, and they won't take the torque of long climbs any more, so my tune has changed as the ebike lets me still enjoy the trails. This has put Dupont and Pisgah off my MTB travel list as I won't ride my ebike there if not allowed, even though I know others do.

    Heading out for the first time this week. Any tips?

    • @mtb_carolina
      @mtb_carolina 2 роки тому

      Definitely. I'd stop in at "The Hub" to check out an awesome bike shop, check out the food truck/grab a coffee, get some last-minute items, etc. Then, I would recommend climbing Clawhammer and hitting the right to connect to middle black and then taking middle black down to lower black and finishing at the lower black mountain parking lot. You can also loop in "Sycamore Cove" as well with that same ride. that's about a 7-mile ride probably. Avery Creek is another really fun ride close by. A shuttle is the easiest way to get there. Then, Mills River and "Trace Ridge", "Fletcher Creek", and "Spencer Branch" are all great trails there. Then, at Bent Creek: Take Rice Pinnacle to Green's Lick, descend Green's Lick, climb back up, and then drop Ingles Field to Wolf Branch and finish at the Rice Pinnacle parking lot. Also: Ridgeline at DuPont State Forest is a lot of fun and a great warm-up trail. I would do Hooker Creek and Hickory Mountain on that same loop too. Then, I'd go over to the Corn Mill Shoals parking lot in DuPont and do Burnt Mountain to Cedar Rock to Big Rock. Those are some ideas to get you started. Trailforks or MTB Project should have those loops in their apps. Let me know if you have any questions and have fun! I'm stoked for you! 🤙🤙 Also, Kitsuma is a super fun trail too that is somewhat closeby if you have time.

    Rode those trails a month ago - you could see the lines. All those leaves hiding rocks! :) Fun. What differences do you see in the Hero11 over the Hero10? My Hero10 video was pretty good with the max lens and media mods.

      So I made the jump from a GoPro Hero 8 Black to the GoPro Hero 11 Black. I never had a 9 or 10. I'm sure the 10 and 11 are very similar. From the videos I researched to substantiate the slighlty higher cost of the 11, the 11 looked to have slightly better vibrancy in terms of color.
