Okay, I feel obliged to share my thoughts on this interview. I clicked on this video in my feed because of the setup within the thumbnail, but I don't believe I have ever heard of either of you. That's the first major issue. You manufactured the setting in which the listener won't discover until the interview is over. It's like it was designed to fail from the start. You parked on my street in a fully decked out Willy Wonka candy bus that says 'CANDY CRUISE COME ON IN' with an arrow pointing to the open door. I step in and the door shuts. I take a seat right by the door because it's dark as hell in here I can't see shit, but I'm here, "Where's the candy?!" I holler to the front as the wheels start rollin'. You say, "Hey man it's a candy CRUISE not a candy park'n'chill.. We're just getting started, we'll get there when we get there."From the start you're really cookin'. I see the kid's got his guitar, he's mic'd up, you're mic'd up, and you tell us he's got 2 songs. Bet. I can only assume after a bit of introduction, you are going to give the floor over so the kid has a chance to grow his following which is the sole purpose of something like this where you invite the young musician on, and give him a chance to grow his following while also growing your following as he continues that rise.Just waiting for you to say "alright, take it away.." and it's dragging on and breaks in my opinion, where you as the interviewer, begin giving bad advice about business and it being boring but just do it.. it was almost like you were telling him to not go for his dreams and play it safe in the likeliness of him failing. It's not a big deal, but in your position it will benefit you more to be the dummy in the room, as in you exist in this moment to learn anything and everything from this kid. You ask his opinion, and his answer should blow you away, and you should only be interested in learning more, and asking more. When you insert your answers to your questions in response to his, you are basically shutting down the chance for that genuine vibe to start flowing. "What are you doing this summer?" "Idk I could go see my aunt. I might do that. She always wants to take me fishing because I've never been. I'll probably just play video games with my friends instead tho. Who knows." "WOW YOU'VE NEVER BEEN FISHING!? Why not?" Then you can tell him something you think about fishing and you can then ask him about video games and his friends, but you shouldn't mention anything about building a stock portfolio and opening a savings account. So now he caps his thoughts to process the idea of introducing a new random option to his summer and the flow is dead. "Alright next question, what's your favorite dinner you ate after you did the thing I brought you on for being good at?"I know this is long and may seem like I'm just being rude and bashing your show.. I'm not. This is constructive criticism that you can use as a way to improve and grow. I see the potential for a great podcast. You have everything you need to do so, but I came here in hopes to find a new artist to add to my playlist, and possibly learn something that would resonate, but I don't even recall the kid's name. All I know is a kid has played guitar for a few years and learned a few songs.Now you got the secret sauce that'll make your wildest dreams come true, and you even gained a new subscriber. Now I'm off to find this kid that I know nothing about. He's not going to gain the following that your future guests will so the least I can do is get that kid a lemonade.
