Curious, how do you handle the residential customers in winter. The ones that will text you right after a storm saying hey when are you gonna be here? I’ve always had issues with that. People are so impatient. What’s the best response?
We put a line in our contract that basically says we will get to the driveway when we can there is no time guarantee. Our commercial properties come first residential come when we can get to them. We get it every storm. I have cut out a lot of customers that are like that out of the list the list we have now are pretty good and usually don’t call complaining that we haven’t come the second it stops snowing. I hate doing residential, but there is good money in it.
How are you? Have you received my email? I am waiting for your reply Thanks & Regards parvej
U guys going to the AC show
Oh my God, this is amazing
Nothing like pushing coke slushy
Weather forecaster is the only job where no matter what they say the won’t lose their jobs
Glad you found the problem!
If I could go back in time Id stay smaller just doing local commercial and residential accounts but evolution of things led into one more account then one more account then more trucks and equipment, on and on. We just got our arsses handed to us plowing 52" of concrete all in a couple days...it was NOT fun nor profitable. Our local and State trucks were not out at all during this event and roads were impassable for days and theres still graders and front loaders running trying to do inner city roads and its been a solid week now. We work for a few different maintenance companies and surprisingly they were ok to deal with during this storm and even sent up a small crew to help us at a huge box store. All you guys who say "I'd love to plow a huge storm" ....it's no fun, it beats the shit out of your equipment and no one is happy and now as soon as the last flake has stopped everyone is asking if we can haul it! , are you f'ing kidding me! we were up and at last count we were up for days straight and got maybe 6-8 hours of naps in 5 days or so. NO THANKS! Now rain and turns sharply cold Wednesday then another 6" Thursday. I know of a couple 1-4 truck businesses that just said screw it they're done and one guy I personally know gave up 200 residential accounts and all but 3 or so commercial accounts, he just bought a brand new F250, new Fishher Steelcaster and a new stainless V blade so maybe 90K invested and now he doesnt know what he's going to do.
drove down that road 2 days ago.
Snow business is surprise. All the best to you
I feel you're pain I plow snow with a loader and 12 foot pusher I plowed today forecasters here in Maine Predicted Augusta, Maine to get D, 2 inches well Augusta got more than that more like 4 inches I ended up driving from my house in Brewer, Maine to plow snow in Augusta, Maine for one of Central Maine Powers Offices and Power Restoration Equipment Warehouse/ Power Outage Dispatch centers and it's looking like next week I may end up plowing yet again 4th snowstorm since Thanksgiving which I plowed on Thanksgiving as well
We haven’t been getting much yet down here by Boston but I have a house up in Maine and they have had snow almost twice a week since thanksgiving in the mountains where we are. Wish we got more snow here but the seasons just starting
@crowleypoolservices where about in Maine I was born in Bangor, Maine but currently living in Brewer, Maine
We are over in Bridgton, wife’s family has a place in China as well love maine it’s my second home
@@crowleypoolservices nice bud stop by Brewer sometime if love to meet ya
Same here in central Ma town of Sturbridge/Fiskdale was supposed to be. 1-3” we got 12” i have 1 customer that was very upset and doesn’t understand. My fault should have just gone out at 4 am 🤦♂️
I think a lot of us were not prepared…good little test before the season really starts I know for next time to be over prepared just in case
Did you guys end up keeping the apartment contract? I know you said you were waiting/frustrated about it. Southern NH here, love seeing the videos from local guys
Been back-and-forth since September, but finally got a final sign off a few days before the storm happened after I threatened to cancel the contract. A new property management company took over and I am not impressed at all with their communication so far. Was a weird situation where we signed a two-year contract with their old property management company the apartment board of trustees wants to continue with us, but the new property management company is making things very difficult finally went straight to the board of directors at the apartments to get answers. I’ll probably make a video on it at some point.
All of us real snow contractors have gone through it. We just went through it a few weeks ago here in Chicago. Was supposed to be a salting event and we got several inches. Some of the largest snow companies were delivering equipment in the storm. Just wakes you up before the real snow. 🤷♂️
Everyone in our area was not ready we usually don't get any snow til mid December and the weather forecast was for rain but it just gets us ready and more prepared for the next one. first one of the season is always for working out the issues
our are wich is charlton we got 8-10in and we got snow saturday to sunday and got 3-4in
Not much here but its better than nothing we usually done get much until we get into late December
You dropped the ball bud
First storm of the year with a truck down and weather forecast for rain we might not have been prepared but made it happen...no ones perfect and everyone makes mistakes we will be prepared for the next one
@crowleypoolservices I was just teasing. Keep up the good work and good luck this winter
5:52 I see some sliding be careful
It was very slippery underneath
No seat belt laws in your area??😅😂
Pretty sure every time I'm driving my seatbelt is on...
@crowleypoolservices I just heard the seatbelt warning there just giving you a grief hopefully you get some more snow
Always expect the unexpected, hope you guys have a busy winter.
Typically we do but this one caught us off guard.. hoping for a good winter we have not had a good one in years!
I don't miss that rat race! 😅 I liked pushing snow but hated the race around
Bro, after last year we will take what we can get. Glad to see you had some work. 6-8” here in Western Mass pending on your elevation…great vid keepem coming 👍
Appreciate that! I'm glad we had a little something to keep us busy hopefully more to come last year sucked
@ couldn’t agree more! Unfortunately looks like rain this week…but the season is still early. It as a test for new clients and new equipment last storm…
Lol, that’s literally chemical damage
Your absolutely correct...Most likely from Chlorine tablets being left in the skimmer
Well you got to pay the bills in wintertime running a pool service company must be a very slow business time. Better than starving all winter long.
Its very tough for us in the winter we plow snow to help keep money coming in thru the offseason its better than not doing anything and just letting the bank account deplete
Thanks for the breakdown! I need some advice: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Awsome
Gotta love being able to take full blade width passes.
I agree with everything you said. 3 plow trucks we have with my landscape business. I keep it small. Pa winters are terrible here in Berks County. I enjoy all your videos.
Glad you like the videos. Keep it small is the way to go!
We got a little bit of snow today
Wow. Looks like you wasted your time.
Just doing our job…when your contracted to remove the snow that’s what we have to do
😂😂😂 looks like he's making money to me but what do I know
So just let it sit and freeze up over night? Never understand some peoples comments.
@@wilsonbobcatservice4151 some people aren't capable of abstract though processes.
I gave up staking a long time ago. People hit them, people steal them, people use them as weapons. I take pictures of the lots and walkways etc and use that as a reference.
I have been plowing the same places for years so personally I do not need them I mostly do it for the new guys in for the customer has most of them request that we do it. I do agree most of them end up on the ground after a month.
I'm ready be safe and have a blessed and safe holiday I'm a Big fan
Thanks we had our first storm today video will be up this weekend
Feel like it may muddy up the brand a bit pushing leaves as a pool service company but idk. Not sure people would even think to call a pool company for that so just something to consider. It is an uphill battle. I would just push for more excavation for pools deep into winter as you can. The ground barely froze at all last winter in the northeast.
Hockey pucks in skimmers 😬
Not the first time I’ve seen this your absolutely correct
Boss. Thank you. Feeder - 1, sometimes 2. Explained. Search is over.
Buy yourself two nice Redmax blowers $500ea, a used Little Wonder ground blower on market place $800-1000 and some tarps from harbor freight. I had a landscape business with 70-80 fall cleanups every year. Tarpped everything into a dump truck. Only a handful I subbed a leaf vacuum to a local friend. It was hard work but with 3-4 guys it was easy. Leaf vacuum setups are a pain unless you have a big setup with a big hp vacuum imo.
Lastly if your ever not sure just be honest and give an hourly price. You got 3 guys there? Charge at least $200 an hour for 3 guys MINIMUM.
Appreciate the advice
Dude hit it hard next year. Your nuts if you think you need to spend 20k. $4000-5000 will get a nice used lead vac, a decent push blower, and left over for a canvass on the dump truck. Keep the backpacks u have for now. Invest in a vacuum and a good push blower you’d be amazed what you could get done with that setup
The more I’ve looked into it the more doable we think it is even with spending minimal money not looking to make it a huge service button something to keep us busy and make some money between pool closing season and snow plow season definitely helps
Easy cash when you have down time
Absolutely helps keep us busy especially going into the winter slow season for us
@@crowleypoolservices If you ever need any help let me know. i`m right in Bridgewater
I have a landscape company out of Norwood. If you ever need help with a curbside pile let me know
I’m from mass I own a landscape company, let me know next year if you want to use dump trailer and leaf vac. We can work something out .
Awesome good to know for next year… still undecided, if we want to do them again, but definitely something we are really considering. It’s Tough being a pool company here in Massachusetts during the winter.
YES CASH IS KING 🍁🍁🍁💵💵💵🍁🍁🍁
Absolutely 👍
Hey bud… get a local company to come do curbside pickup for you.
That’s definitely something we are considering if we do them next year
I did that years back and I would guess your labor cost is more than what the pickup costs vs time.
sunday morning video lets go :)
Hope you enjoyed it!
We're did you buy this custom cover and how much ?
Which do you prefer, the Ploy caster or the Boss salt spreader?
Both are great personally I like the polycaster better but for a smaller pickup truck the boss 6500 is perfect. Polycaster definitely spreads more efficient but they both work great. There are a few videos on the channel that I made comparing them and doing walk around of both
we already salted once
We had a ton of black ice yesterday morning we probably should have salted, but caught everyone by surprise and was melted away almost instantly
I’m about to post my first snow sighting video.
It’s coming…I can’t believe your still doing liners this late in the season. I’ve been tempted but we just pushed a bunch to the spring
perfect leaf pile to jump in!
Greetings from Brandenburg 🇩🇪 12 Grad ☃️❄️??
