My projects as a film student.
Feel free to leave feedback, I am always seeking improvement and there are parts of each of these projects I know I could have done better.

Spring '23 I'd like to get better at color grading this summer. May recolor some of my older and newer projects once I have a better grasp of it. Perhaps i'll reupload them here once that happens.

This is amazing thank you for sharing
great content !
In "Mister Gravity," the characters, concealed behind vibrant masks, boldly express their thoughts. The film’s experimental approach captivated me, blending brilliant dialogue with innovative cinematography. Director Jacob James and his talented cast collaborate seamlessly to craft a compelling narrative. From my viewpoint, James has created a cinematic gem that delves deeply into questions of identity and reality. I’m eager to see what groundbreaking work he produces next.
Loved seeing Bobby Militello in this interview - remember all the beat-flute music he performed in open air concerts in Buffalo - all the best to both of you!
Excellent! Thanks for taking the time to interview this great musician.
Bobby, if you got offered the Buddy Rich in 83 then Mark Pinto was already there?
Bobby, I had an amazing vivid dream about Mr. Sedola I must tell you
No automatic subtitle damnn
This was a joy to watch and listen to. One of the melancholy things about getting older is when you see someone young, like you, getting to appreciate a musical hero like Mr. Militello. It is on the one hand, very exciting and joyful, knowing that you will get to discover and experience his immense talent. But on the other hand, it is tremendously, sorrowful, because of the fact that his career extends back to when there were not recording devices constantly available. In other words, there are literally hundreds of performances that you would literally not believe if you could go back there in time with me, in which Bobby took an entire audience and even the members of his own band into the musical stratosphere. As a young person, myself at the time, 14 or 15 years old, I had no idea what it was going to mean to my life and to my musical performance getting to see Maynard Ferguson for the first time. I believe it was the second time, we saw Maynard that Bobby had joined them. Given that the person who had invited me, and who could drive at the time when I couldn’t, was a tenor sax player, and a musical prodigy himself, it was immediately obvious the immeasurable talent of Bobby Militello. His saxophone solos were beyond description, but I think maybe it was the second time I saw him that Menard featured him on a number for which he played the flute. Much like I would later see George Benson do on the guitar, Bobby vocalized as he played, and literally harmonized with himself back-and-forth between the notes of the flute, and the notes of his own voice. As such, as a musician, who was also a member of the audience, you instantly realized that you were in the company of greatness. It felt like many years later, when I got to see BB King in person. You could even see the joy of that on Maynard’s face. He was grinning from ear to ear, because as with all improvisation, every time Bobby played, it was going to be something new! Then once you have that initial, astonished realization of awe, it’s simply becomes a celebration of “Oh my gosh! What is this man going to do next?!” I feel incredibly privileged because back in those days, the band people would let you bring in the tape recorder. I had a monaural Panasonic recorder. It was pretty good for the time. I asked at the door if I could bring it in. It was in a high school auditorium, and they said sure no problem. This thing was probably 9” x 12”, and about 3 inches thick, and there weren’t the smaller ones yet at that time because they were extremely expensive, so when I looked around, I think I was the only one that had something like that. So I have some of those performances of Bobby’s. They are a treasure….
I've seen typography that makes it clear what's going on in the skit, but I think this perfectly captures the confusion of it. Would love to see the whole thing but I realize that would be a lot of work to do.
Amazing use of text to reflect the intonation and emphasis, not to mention poor Costello’s exasperation.
Great stuff wish it was a lot longer.
I have a couple hours worth of footage. I was thinking about releasing an uncut version that includes the whole conversation.
@@jjjwhatyouwant Uncut is always highly respected though we always use “creative” editing to make sure the talent is always looking good :-) He has many fans I’m sure a nice long interview would generate some traffic. He’s 10 yrs older than me, his story is a lot like my own. I was playing at tail end of the “good old days” 6-7 nights a week. Sometime 2-3 gigs per day. You could make a living playing locally with very little hustle, just be up and ready for whatever work came your way. As I got better gigs got better I was getting calls to fill in for bigger and bigger ppl. He was so right about leaving wny if you wanted to get somewhere in music. Not that Buffalo sucks, we just don’t have all the opportunities that other areas have. I liked your interview with Mr. Militello. I’d love to hear more unvarnished stories of his life.
Great to see Bobby again, got Introduced to him in Buffalo in 2017 when visiting from Germany. Awesome playing!
Heard Bobby with Maynard Ferguson and Dave Brubeck . Great player, period the end !!
Thank you so much for sharing this Jacob. Great work, Bobby Militello fans thank you.
You’re welcome! It was a wonderful experience
I attended Maynard Ferguson concerts every year throughout the seventies. Bobby’s flute solos were always highlights of those concerts.
Plots a bit hard to follow in this one but still pretty good 👍
