NOW - Newhouse on Wheels, is all about stepping outside of your comfort zone and experiencing life to the fullest.
10 years ago, life threw us a curve ball. Ever since that moment, we have worked towards creating our freedom.
Now, we have both been able to quit our corporate jobs and live a much freer lifestyle.
We work when we want to, doing whatever takes our interest and we play as much as possible.
Join us, Peter and Cindy Newhouse, as we embark on this new phase in our lives.

Hello, Hubby and I would love to do this when we hit the road soon. How do you recommend we seek out these positions? Thanks.
Hi guys, exciting times ahead...... These jobs are all over the agricultural regions of Australia. Best way to get one....go to the local agricultural stores (Elders, Nutrien, etc.....) and ask if they know anyone looking for labour, the local pubs and clubs (footy, bowls etc...). There are quite a few apps and websites dedicated to ag labour (not sure of them, but you can search and find them I dare say). Some labour hire agencies will have clients in the ag industry as well. I got my work through people I knew, which made it easier, but farmers are screaming for people that will look after their gear and give an honest and hard days work for those 8 week windows of harvest and seeding. Hope this helps. Pete
@@peternewhouse4852 Very helpful thank you. Some great suggestions I had never heard of to do before.
Only fools go off grid without even a paper map
Good thing we got to our destination then. I'd hate to be called a fool 😁
Great Vid... One Day.....
It's a great place to visit. Hope it's sooner than later!
Great vid guys
We're glad you enjoyed it 👍👍👍
Going to have to watch your episodes after eating 🍽 those Steaks 🥩 and salad 🥗 left me wanting 😳🤪😳 Top episode and the comparisons on the camping spots and who knew the Mine dam looks like a Blue heart 🩵 ya going to start a new UA-cam rush to get a photo for the popular influencers hahaha 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Yeah.....I could do with a good steak right now as well....... That blue dam lake was pretty special hey. We'll see what the "Insta-crowd" do - they might have a new location now hey.
Great Vid... One Day.....
Hope it's sooner rather than later!
Everyone has their opinions which is better. For us we stayed a Corella Dam which suited us, went red clawing everyday we could in our boat, went to Mt Isa to do our shopping, empty our toilet cassettes and get fresh water.
No one right and no one's wrong, it's what ever you prefer 👍👍👍 Glad you enjoyed Corella too. Safe travels
We stayed at MK and I loved sitting there and imagining the history of what was once a thriving township. That being said we went to Corella and thought next time we would stay there (if we could get a good site). It is something to behold.
A foot in each camp. Love it 👍👍👍 enjoy your next stay there
We loved Mary Kathleen when we stayed there, the colours in the dam were spectacular Next time we will stay at Corella. The joys of travelling Oz spoilt for choice.
100% stunning colours. And yes, we are so lucky to have soon much choice. Safe travels
Mary Kathleen anytime for us.
I think I definitely missed something. Better stay there next time to see 👍👍
Mary Kathleen has so much history. Can't wait to go back. Would prefer it over Corella Dam anytime.
That's why it's great to travel. Meet so many people with different focusses and opinions. That's why we love it. With a country as big as ours we aren't starved for choice either. All the best and I hope you get back there soon 👍👍👍
Great video, We just finished up a harvest season in Queensland and did a little series on it. I had to chase a 60ft front at the start and you nearly have to be touching it to get the bin under the auger, bit nervous when you’ve never do it before. But I think we said it as well, if you’re willing to have a crack most people will give you a go 👍 Best job I’ve had, the people and experience is second to none 👌
Well said 👍 Yep 60ft fronts are scary to chase. Thank goodness for auto steer hey I'll check out your series when I get a moment. Very keen to check it out. Cheers Pete
@ auto steer definitely makes it less stressful that’s for sure 👍 Thanks mate appreciate it 👌
🤘😎🤘
Water front every time.
That's the spirit 🤘😎🤘
I work 12 hours a day driving trucks, hate it, how can working all those hours be fun 🤔
I am fortunate in that I know its only for 8 to 9 weeks and then I take what ever time off I want. Also, if I'm going to remove my "freedom" for that time, I want to work every single hour I can, make as much money as I can and then go home and enjoy my family. It's all in the perception I guess, but I hear what ya saying mate. Keep trucking and thanks for keeping Australia going, we'd be stuffed without truckies. You're all legends 👍
@peternewhouse4852 What do you do for the rest of the year ????
Retired, so not much. That's why I enjoy the farm so much and don't mind the hours. I do go back to the farm a few times during the year though for 6 to 8 weeks. I just really like farming
@peternewhouse4852 I'm planning on retiring in about 4 years, and travelling around Australia, this might actually sound like a good idea for a bit of extra cash 💸
They will love you if you can drive trucks and know big machinery. All the best with the retirement plans
Wow - thanks mate for the fantastic video. Salt of the earth people who do what you do! No way could I do that! Feeding the world - what a noble unrecognised job.
Cheers mate. Really appreciate those kind words. 👍
If u done farm work easy job maybe 4am starts travel t assit farmers good one
Not 100% sure what you were saying. Think auto correct got ya
Love to do this and give a hand to our farmers, now I am retired. Liked and subscribed, awesome video.
It's a great experience. That's why we retire. To do what we want to do, not what we have to do 👍👍👍👍
@@peternewhouse4852 fully agree 100%
Great vid... what sort of $ are you on ?? assume whatever tax you pay you will get back at tax time ??
Cheers mate. We get $40 / hour as a flat rate and the tax is as per the PAYG rules, but yes we do get some back at tax time.
Not everyone or anyone can just turn up and do this work
I think the main message is that it is not as specialised and scary as people may think and if you have a good work ethics and a great dose of common sense, you can do this work 👍👍👍 Cheers mate. Thanks for watching and really appreciate the feedback 👍
My hubby does the same every year. We come ‘home’ for a few months to spend time with family and he does the grain carting for harvest. We are south east WA, in Ravensthorpe 😁
It's a great way to fund our lifestyles isn't it. And it's a great environment to work in. I love the Ravy area. Spent a lot of time around Gairdner and Bremer Bay as a young fella, so the Fitzgerald NP was a regular camping spot. All the best, safe travels and thanks for watching 👍👍👍
Great episode will have to join you for a season…😁
If you are over this side of the country, the opportunities abound in the farming sector, so you never know, we could work together 👍👍👍
Great video nice something different
Glad you liked it!
@@peternewhouse4852 sure did
Is there a link to these type of jobs at all
Not that I am aware of. Others may be able to help there. If you get on the Facebook noticeboards in the towns you go to, you can sometimes find farms advertising there, or you can let them know you are there and keen for work. Good luck
Fantastic episode guys loved it
Cheers 👍👍
Guys, I have stayed in that spot, well actually right where your neighbours are, more times than I can remember. Best camp site in Australia I reckon. No amenities though but plenty provided on the other side of the bridge near the watering point. There are more river campsites 7K up the road past the dump point all along the river there. When you visit these towns where they provide such good facilities, make sure you spend a few quid in the town just to say thanks. It means everything to the town in both the financial patronage and the compliment such action conveys to the town. Well done and thanks for the video. PS, by now you probably realise it is best not to overly encourage the horses or they will pay your camp site a visit when you are in bed. A mate woke up to his van rocking as a horse was scratching itself on the corner of his van.
Well said. 👍👍👍 Definitely one of the best camp sites we have been to.
Great vid.. One Day...
Defo
The van you were saying just doing 60km/h was one of your touring party?? No lights on ??
Yes they were. I never took notice of that. Good pick up 👍
Great vid... One Day....
You can do it!
Great Vid.. One Day
Hope so!
Hope you're not holding a camera or phone while driving. 😊
I will plead the 5th on this one. It was a long selfie stick if I remember 🫣👍
Which camp in Bingara was this one? There’s a few on Wiki so not sure which one to mark. Thanks 😊
The camp sites was called Gwydir River Common Camp. Hope that gets you there. Was a cracking spot
Hey guys loving your videos. Can I ask what time of the year you did this trip as you are saying how cold it is
Hi. Thank you for your kind words and watching our travels. I'm pretty sure we were there around the end of July or early August (I'm very behind on my vids 🫣)
Oh wow you are retracing our steps from 2017, except we did it in the reverse. Hoping to get back out there this year, its a long way from WA (our home) but it’s amazing and well worth the fuel 😁
How cool. You're right, it is a long way from WA - our home too. But definitely worth the journey. Hope you get out and about soon. All the best.
@ thank you. We travel full time, we just choose a different state every year to fully explore 😊
That sounds like a great idea. One for us to think about too. Keep travelling safe. Cheers
totally and utterly overrated been there .
I guess everyone is looking for something different in their travels. We definitely enjoyed our stay here. I would love to hear about some of your favorite spots, so we can add them to our list for our next time through the area. Cheers Pete
Welcome back and happy new year to you both 🥂 hoping Cindy is doing better 🤞🏼
Happy New Year to you too, Cindy is doing well now thanks!
sound quality very pooryou need mics
Thanks for the feedback. Agreed - the sound quality was definitely a bit off in this vid. Apologies.
The sound in the car wasnt very clear. Have you considered using mics?
Thanks for that feedback. Mic's are not on the immediate horizon for us, but I will address the sound issues in production where I can. As always, we do appreciate your feedback. Cheers
Been awhile 😎 welcome back 👏🏻 Hope Cindy’s okay
Hi . Yeah, sorry about the break in video's, but I love my farming and big machinery, so I took time away for that. Cindy is doing well. The weather in northern Qld (Cairns and Atherton TL) really got the better of her lungs, so we had to get to dryer air again. Thanks for watching and we'll see you again next week. Cheers Pete and Cin
Lovely to see you back.
Happy new year guys,Welcome back you were missed. Great video again looking forward to the next one. Cheers 😊😊

Thankyou so much for your kind words and support. That really makes our day. Definitely worth going here. So nice and a great little town too. Happy travels
@ perhaps this is a silly question, but was there crocs in the river you camped at? 🐊
Not a silly question at all. I don’t think there were, but you can never be too carefully in that area

No thanks far to busy.
