Taken with the Integrity Riderz from Huntington beach to Seal beach. I had a hard time catching up with the group, they are really strong riders. Thank you for letting me ride with the group. Unfortunately towards the end of the video, one of the riders got a flat tire. For more exciting videos, please subscribe to my channel
Does anyone know the correct torque for the spindle screw? I know it needs to be tight, with blue loctite, but how tight? Thank you to anyone for your response.
nobody know he still alive, so if are you there, the cheap titanium last or not?
The 50mm titanium spinals do have weight limit, 185lbs.
Axle lenght mm ????
Cool song
If you go to Seal Beach's Main Street (the street that connects to the pier) you'll find a Donut shop that serves good coffee. Should hit the spot for a biker.
Spindle length?
Wag kalimutan ang matandang kasabihan.ang mag comment maglike at subscribe ay suswertihin.Saferide kapotpot.pa shawout na din.
When you did this, had you already loosened the spindle screw once off camera? How hard was it to get off? I’ve heard it’s on there with locking compound and can be hard to loosen.
be vary of eBay and Amazon titanium. most of it is aluminium or stainless steel from China.
I have changed spindles but only to add length. Too bad Speedplay no longer makes longer spindles.
Can this be done to with the X series? I have a chromoly X5 and would like to swap for a shorter Ti spindle.
Nice ride. What it was like before the homeless moved in.
Just stay in the dam lane and stop swerving over to the sidewalk and back out every 200 feet clearing smh.
What an idiotically designed bike lane and useless streetside parking spaces on a 55mph road. I forgot what a joke california is. Don't miss it one bit.
I sure would love to do this ride without the traffic. Beautiful Southern California day ! How I do miss it.
California is garbage now. NTY.
I watched the Video twice read the Comments below (yes you don't need to remove the U-Clip as mentions below but shown in the Video) and I've done both pedals and greases them in under 15mins ... I've ridden on the new Titanium conversions for a month now and all seems to be A OK & Working Perfectly.
Hi - Do You still have your '15 S-Works?...........I'm about to start a '16 Di2 Disc build............any advice, hints, lessons learned to share? Looks like I have to source Brake Calipers (I have Flat mount vs '16 has Post Mount) and might have a Rear Wheel spacing issue with using the Mavic I have. We''ll see - fingers crossed
How’s the build going? Just finished mine - it was definitely a hassle getting the right hangers, adapters and what not but the result is bloody beautiful!
@@MarcusCockerill Glad your Build turned out Great & You are Happy. Congrats. I was happy with mine, rode it a bunch and then sold the completed bike in May. Replaced it with a Roubaix which is more comfortable for me. Ride & Stay Safe
Hi, what bb was installed to run the dura ace crankset? Thanks!
Nice...thanks for the demo!
Thank you for the video
Replace a safety critical high strength alloy steel part with something unknown from ebay.. High risk low reward project to save less than two ounces. Insane. Thanks for motivating people to ruin their pedals because you forgot to tell them that the Torx screw won't come off unless you heat it up to melt the Loctite. The music is obnoxious, too. Nitwit.
Titanium is hard to break especially the shorter q factor 50mm will likely bend first before it completely breaks. If they are real titanium as descriped and no fake aluminum look a like. Of course you can buy genuine speedplay titanium / nano pedals for € 450 if you don't won't to replace the axle for a cheap $ 39 item. Don't forget also original Speedplay titanium axles have a maximum rider weight specified at 85 KG. If you are heavier then or a very powerfull sprinter then indeed the stainless steel or cro-moly axle versions are the better choice.
It's nice to have you do the work, I'd like to see new footage, thanks.
No torque wrench?
What a difference a couple years can make: ua-cam.com/video/_Ddk4QtYyus/v-deo.html
Totally stupid idea and just as idiotic to use a torque type device to remove the torx screw that had been loctited into the pedal by Speedplay after removing the dust cap. A great way to completely trash such a torque device, and I'm not even mildly surprised given the amateurish nature of this clown project to begin with. Yeah, let's use use an unknown non pedal engineered aftermarket ti spindle with ZERO guarantee of warranty, reliability of fabrication or alloy composition, and put my head and body at risk to save a couple grams. Weight weenies, always good for a few laughs. :-)
Complete weight weenie moron project. Yeah, I'm going to race on some untested and unknown engineered aftermarket ti pedal spindle to save a couple meaningless grams so that I can put my teeth, head, and body at risk using an unknown spindle without any known engineering or warranty or guarantee of product quality or alloy composition behind it??? Sorry, but for the relative small weight reduction this is simply a very stupid thing to do. Speedplay warranty = voided, known quality and reliability of aftermarket ti pedal spindle = nonexistent, pedal spindle warranty or guarantee of performance = does not exist either. And a big FYI for all the fools contemplating doing this, Speedplay specifically limits their ti spindle pedals to a 185lb rider weight limit, now try to find out what the rider weight limit is for these aftermarket non Speedplay engineered pedal spindles??? LOL
Haha. Nice disclaimer at the end. I don't think you've convinced anybody to buy the stock ones still.
what size torx bit is needed?
T20 I believe
For the serious weight-weenie
the Ti pedals probably has Ti bowties for the extra 6g saving from your modified chromoly zero.
Any issues using the aftermarket spindle after 2 years of use? Great video.
Brilliant - thank you!
No power meter?
awesome, thanks for showing how it is done!
Yes, the $335 pedals are a rip off. However, you did pay $39 for a 52 gram of weight savings. Are there cheaper ways to reduce rotating mass on your bike (ie lighter shoes, chain, wheels)?
shoes, chain, wheels are more than $39 to take 52 grams off......
Siick bike, but why discs.. Its so ugly :(((
Better control at downhill and works better when wet
I'm totally doing this. Thanks for the tip!
+Mark Geyer me too!Just ordered the spindles from aliexpress...
+Francesco Prochilo, I just did it this past week. Totally works! I used the philips screws that came with the new spindles, it doesn't matter, just use a drop of 242 Loctite and they won't move and re-grease the pedals once they're on the crankarms. My spindles don't have the 15mm base to wrench them on the crankarms, but they do have an 8mm hex to tighten them up. Good luck!
Great Mark, thanks!I just need to buy a pail of chrome moly for 89 euros and wait a month for the spindles!I can see that now the spindles weight is less than spindles in the video, now is 57gr instead 67gr, so is quite perfectly identical as original titanium speedplay
what size frame?
49
Hi there! any problems with the ebay spindles after assembly it? thank you very much
Sofar no problems after one year
+GoPro Bike Ride Videos were your bearings still smooth after ?
+Damien Sofar no problems
+Damien Sofar no problems
Can I use Park Tool Polylube 1000 to lubricate the pedal?
I'm not familiar with that brand bro
I'm not familiar with that brand bro
Do you have to insert BB adapter from 30mmto 24mm to fit Dura Ace crankset?
No adapter used
which way do you turn the torx screw for the left pedal? @ :50secs I'm assuming the one on the video is a right pedal and i was able to remove the torx turning the screw away from me. Is it just the opposite for the left pedal? I may have stripped both left pedal screws and I'm kinda pissed now :( *have 2 pedals for 2 bikes.
No it's the same (anti-clockwise to remove the torx screw). If it's stuck, it's probably just the locking compound, so try using a heatgun which should loosen it.
Insane bike. I have the non disk version
Hey there! Have you tried - Baelsu Magical Social Domination (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? Ive heard some decent things about it and my work buddy got cool results with it.
can you do this with the super light action pedal?
+sam joffe - yes you can use the same spindle. But it does not work for chrome moly, just for stainless steel. Unlike the Zero, it works for chrome-moly
im not sprinting lap after lap in a crit while using a spindle that may just be a cheap aluminum one with 0 engineering behind it
+Chris Witek Exactly.
Aluminum isn't magnetic...I'd start there:)
Neither is titanium (it's paramagnetic and virtually unresponsive to normal magnets) so not sure how this advice is helpful.
I did that once! In fact I started in Newport Beach on Balboa Peninsula at the Ferry. Went north by ocean. Cut over at Belmont Shores. Rode next to cliffs in Long Beach and by the Victorian homes. Went to Pine Street where many restaurants. Had a bowl of soup at King's Fish House to keep food light, so I could ride back. At King's Fish House listened to good jazz music for 45 minutes and talked with someone. Rode all the back to the Ferry at Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach. The whole round trip in 4-1/2 hours! That summer every two weeks I rode in a different beachside town from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Few years later decided to write books for 3 years on the weekends instead. Loved every minute of both lifestyles! Thank you for this video that brings back the memories! Keep riding and go boldly were you have not gone before. Explore outer and then inner.
sir no need to removed the u clip its for the bearing only not for spindle i already did this many times...
percival caparas yeah, I agree. I realized it after changing the 2nd pedal. Thanks for the comment

In practice it is not as easy as it looks. These are pre-prepared pedals. In real life removing the axle screw and the circlip can be a real pain. Also, once assembled a grease gun should be used to fill up the pedal with grease. And titanium axles are by Speedplay limited to riders with a max. weight of 85 kilos.
