Volvo 240 - Main Engine Fuse (the one on the fender)
THE ONE UNDER THE HOOD ON THE FENDER
I have been referencing CLEANFLAMETRAP.COM for quite some time. Art has some amazing write up tutorials there for a lot of common issues we experience with these cars. Thought making a video for this would be fun and hopefully help some people out. Below is Art's explanation of this Fuse. Please go to CLEANFLAMETRAP.COM for more information on later models and other fixes that you probably need to do :)
Main Fuse for Engine Management Systems
This is about solving what can be an elusive and intermittent electrical problem with the fuel and certain ignition systems in 240 Volvos built with Electronic Fuel Injection
Since 1983 and LH2.0, 240's with EFI through 1990 models have the fuel system (computer, fuel pumps, idle valve, injectors, air mass meter) all powered through the engine wiring harness (thick red wire) fused near the battery and originating at a battery junction box on the left inside fender wall. Every owner with that fuse has had reason to deal with it's holder and wiring at some time, mostly due to its being located right under the hood-fender gap, exposed to the elements.

IPD Adjustable Torque Arms | Volvo 240

Every bushing on this 245 was terrible and likely stock from 1987. I got a set of these IPD adjustable torque arms from a buddy new in the box. I decided to put them on because my bushings were so bad, I will get to adjusting them once I find the ride height that I like. As you can see, the taillights on this Volvo 245 were in terrible shape. I ordered a new set off Ebay from swedish*auto*lamps*for*less / Swedish Car Parts. They arrived very quickly and the packaging was AMAZING. They came with new foam gaskets and everything about them from the quality to the fitment is perfect. Definitely the nicest part of the exterior on this old pig of a car. I can easily ...

Like everything else on this car, the Brakes were super gross and neglected. I replaced the calipers, rotors and pads. @@davidblood9882 as you know there are some serious rabbit holes when searching for "the best" anything. A number of people on forums I trust love Delo in their race and daily driven cars. It's at local parts stores and isn't too spendy. The container trick I learned from my dad. Thank you for watching! Never thought an oil change video would get watched but this motor was gross so I figured why not film every step along the way.

    About five years ago, my 2002 Chevy truck had a loud lifter ticking noise. It was a quart low on oil, so I added a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil to the crankcase. Soon the lifter ticking noise disappeared. I drove the truck about 400 miles and when I changed the oil, it was extremely dirty. This was telling me that the MMO was removing the sludge out of the engine. I have also been using Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel of my car, truck, and lawn mower at every fill up since 2016. Everything is running better than ever, and my car now gets at least one to two more miles per gallon on the highway.

    ok, curious. the lead for my O2 sensor on my 93 245 goes behind the head as you've shown. i've noticed a "block off" on the header before the cat and saw this video and was like oh dang that's where it is.

    • @ShiftBricksGarage
      @ShiftBricksGarage 8 місяців тому

      If I'm understanding you, you are saying you have more than one spot an O2 sensor could go. Some models don't have the spot we're talking about up by the head. I just heard from a guy whose 88 only has the spot by the CAT. Volvo liked moving things around depending on year and where at in the world the car was released.

    • @pjmcilwaine
      @pjmcilwaine 8 місяців тому

      @@ShiftBricksGarage the lead on my 93 goes behind the head, when i run the code it's showing O2 sensor. please keep in mind I've had this car for just a year and I'm slowly learning. However, i noticed a bolt in where I would've assumed was the port for the O2 sensor on the exhaust before the CAT. Perhaps there is more than one spot for the O2 sensor to mount? Bottom line, I've not been able to tell where that lead goes.

      @@markkaufman5031 correct, the port is blocked off and whomever connected the lead to something behind the head that i simply can't see. I'm gonna see if i can remove the bolt on the exhaust closing the port, plug the O2 sensor in and see what happens. if no good I'll just put it back as it was. I'm thinking it was bypassed somehow. the car runs very rich so I'll experiment and see....
