I applaud you for doing your own repair. One comment. Yes, women may get cheated by mechanics. However, don't think that guys are treated any better. Maybe I missed it but what is the tallest number you'd make using this technique? 4 feet tall?
If would stay under 4 ft. If you want larger I would bend and shape frames out of conduit poles. I hope this helps!🎈

For one that tall, I would bend conduit and build a frame that way. That way it would be more stable.

Is there a good way to add a second group to make it longer ?
Yes, I usually put 4 or 5, five inch round balloons at in between the first and second groups to hide the separation knots.

I need to make a #8 and I'm terrified any suggestions anyone
You can even use 1/2 inch conduit and a conduit pie bender. You can use Gorilla tape to hold the loops together. Also hula hoops would work for smaller ones. Look at the connectors for the metal conduit in Lowe’s or Home Depot. They have small pipe cutters as well. I mark mine with a sharpie marker so I know where to bend them. You can also use the metal rods I show in this video to make an 8. I would secure the left and right sides with extra pieces of wire so it doesn’t flip down after you tape it though. I made the big hoops in the Pride parade with the same metal rods in this video. You can cut them with a small pipe cutter.
When I said you could reinforce the center of the number 8……. I mean add 2 separate pieces… like make 2 small “V”s and turn them sideways and use gorilla tape and double them over your other rods that form the 8. That way it will reinforce the center so it doesn’t fold down.
Give yourself enough time to play around and practice! Don’t be afraid to try it! Put some good music on and just do it! It will turn out fine! 💕
