GM Pick Up Truck Bed Replacement.
So I replaced my 04 GMC Rust it out truck bed with one that was wrecked. The replacement didn't have any rust it was rust free. And got it pretty cheap considering I put a little time into straightening it out. The real issue was the leaking axles that I didn't know we're leaking and that I had to weld up. I was going to replace the u bolts I just didn't know how bad it was once I got there. But that's in another video

I know I did quite a bit of work on the new exhaust manifold but actually the old manifold was a lot worse I tried fixing it first I even did some welding on it I just made it worse so I bought a new one It needs a lot of sanding to get it flat I also did a lot of rewiring under the hood and management with the vacuum hoses As well

Grood video !!
Thanks it was a fun one I appreciate it
I am interested in making some bracket because the ones I want are $135 dollars! You are the first stop on my youtube research rabbit hole. What kind of material are you using? I am attempting to recreate some brackets for a Ford Transit headliner shelf. What are you using the water separator for? I eventually want to build a recirculating shower.
Thanks for watching my videos
Thanks for watching my videos there are some rabbit holes So when you run an air compressor in a high humidity environment Separator keeps your air tools Lasting longer But mainly if You use a spray paint gun it really helps. For as fabricating metal go's. Get a Metal thickness gauge That way you know How thick you're flat stock or Sheet metal is That way you know What to buy
@@terrywillcutsgarage2774 Thanks for taking the time to make the video and the great advice.
What kind of tool did you use to get it aligned?
A large flat screwdriver Be Aware once it's in neutral it will roll
My car is like this bro any advice you can give me I wanna clean it up myself
Yeah don't be afraid to just get in there Cut the old out Replace it with Some new stuff Or whatever you got. For me It's more like therapy
@ where do you recommend getting new floorboard or what material can I use in its place?
🤘hell yeah
Thank you! "hell yeah"
I woke up explaining how a truck was stuck in gear and the clutch was seized it would stop lmao the brakes werent working dont ask me but i was explaining how i spun it around untill it rolled backwards which makes no sense but that sucker popped outta gear with ease once it rotated 180 i dont even know who they were 😅🤷♂️what truck it was or where i was at lmao i was in an African American family it made no dang sense at all im white tan with no African family and from new zealand i think i need to start smoking again this dreaming stuff really be getting wild now 😂😂😂😂
I'm just confused on how the ball joint pushed up and out when putting downward force onto it
Snapping on the bottom side of the ball joint underneath the control arm Holds the ball joint in place after it's pressed in
@terrywillcutsgarage2774 can I get the part number to that. I can’t find any upper ball joints for the stock upper control arm. I already have everything else on order.
Was that a stock upper control arm? I wasn’t sure is they were replaceable in the stock arms up top
Factory original With 180K on it Thanks for watching I appreciate it
@@terrywillcutsgarage2774 where can I order one? I’ve only found the whole control arm setup and a upper ball joint from readylift for their 4” lift arms, Yea man it’s a great short to the point vid.
"See how they're aligned up, there?"
Smart choice in using knurled ball joints! 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thanks I appreciate who you watching and commenting on the video
What ball joints did you go with and how are they holding up? Seems like everything is made in China with plastic bushings and dog shit QC.
On my rigs Like The GMC I tried to go with GM factory Parts But they do cost But I know I will get 100k out of them Thanks for the views and comments
@@terrywillcutsgarage2774 thanks for the reply. I put Moog LCA’s on my 05 Sierra. I kept the old control arms to swap the ball joints and hang on to them. I’ll probably go OEM. Subbed and liked 👍🏻
Miss those older chevys. I just replaced both upper control arms on my 2016 gmc Sierra. wish it was as easy as replacing the ball join only
I'm staying with the older vehicles Thanks for watching
New ones are just as easy to me just pull the strut assembly and in and out too easy
Nicely done I wish I had seen it before I did mine 😂
He made that look easy! Jerry took 4 days to finish that job
Not all of 4 days It failed a safety inspection so I was in a hurry Together done👍
All right
Spend 20-30$ more and just get new control arms comes with balljoints already installed
Good for 10k miles
My defender lt85 gear box have same problem but the shift lever socket broke
I been having problems with my 94 ford ranger when I want to go on first and won’t go like super slow I have to push the gas real deep and it goes a lil I’m able to get it moving n go on second and it goes but real slow what could it my clucth i could only hear like air or me press wing the gas so deep for it to go help please 🙏
These videos are great Terry! Love the content. Next Vice Grip Garage 😎
Just did an 05 c1500 that was a nightmare. My C clamp press was loaned out. So I removed the upper arm to push it out on my big press. Everything went smooth & easy until i tried putting the upper control arm back in. It was like each arm had moved inward nearly 3/16's of an inch, and wouldn't go in the mounting boxes. I had to spread them out with a small bottle jack. Still a mystery as to why though.
Not really sure had the same thing happened to me on a Ford windstar
😂
Thank you for video didn't know correct set up this short video was perfect.
My microbuss stuck in gear what can i do
Did you fix it?
For that ticking noise try marvel mystery oil it works 1 quart all it takes smooth as silk and a little better gas mileage if you mix it with your gas used it for years its 100 years this year
Sorry I didn't your message earlier I did use some Marvel Oil added Soon after I did the work on my truck Not really sure if it helped a lot I think my cam and lifters are kind of worn out The motor runs really strong Other than the ticking It's coming up on its 300 big 1 It needs to be Taken apart and gone through But that's for future T Thanks for the advice
Nice!!
Thank you!!
Do you need an alignment after that? Vecause of the shims
I had the front end re aligned after replacing The part Some might Wait to see if their tires are wearing though
My 2012 chevy cruze manual stick shift will not go in any gear
Did u find the problem
It's wide open compared to my 1500 , you have to lace your fingers between the spring to get the bolts in.thanks for the video
Valvoline
What kind of welder did you use
Titanium 140 I use Flex core wire I'm not gonna make excuses How pretty The welds are. They are what they are End of story
@Terry Willcut's Garage I totally get that I have an Eastwood 140 and i'm just learning.
A man of making the shit you got work….I respect that.
It ain't stupid if it works....
I know you'll be susprised. But it happened to me once more than 25 years ago and the fix was to add brake fluid. It happened recently to my father (the manual is stuck in gear) in another car and same fix.
Aren’t you not supposed to top off brake fuild
@@BearThatSwings sometimes it leaks and empties out (in my case I was young and I was drifting) and probably the cap wasn't properly closed. I still don't understand the correlation to this day.
@@azaralamouri5140hydraulic clutches work off the master cylinder. no brake fluid means no clutch
My car has been getting stuck not just on a single gear but on random even on reverse and sometimes is scary because you feel you can hit another car because you can’t disengage the gear and the car just keeps going until you force it to shut off or magically your able to get the gear off I will ad some fluid I hope it solves the issue
Hi, nobody does that anymore, now I replace the upper control arm so the whole thing is fresh, same with the lower,
Lol why..if it aint broke dont fix it.
@@LandonClimbsbecause if the ball joint is worn out then the control arm bushings aren’t far behind. it’s also just as quick.
@@connor4961 thank you, i genuinely didnt know
@@LandonClimbs yeah it’s best to just replace the whole part, the entire Aarm is only about 30-40$ anyway.
Well that depends. You’re buying really cheap parts when you get the arm for $40 a pop. The good parts add up quick so pressing out the bushings and replacing just the ball joint is still a good idea! I just got done doing my 00 Escalade literally replaced every steering and suspension bushing and joint. I used a press to replace both upper and lower control arm bushings and ball joints.
This cool mate
When my car was off my son pushed shifter out of gear. But trans still in gear. Ford 3spd manual. Will this fix it?
I'm not sure If you can get Into the top of the transmission the same way I don't think it's that easy. I believe You have to unbolt The top of the transmission to get to the shift fork. So I'm saying. I'm not sure! and there might be something broken
@@terrywillcutsgarage2774 4 speed granny low not going in 3rd with the truck running or off🤔 my mechanic said it's a piece of plastic where u line up the 3
Sounds like amazing content but you asked for advice, speaking isn't your strongest trait be less awkward and improving your delivery will absolutely help your watchability.
Yup I Do need to work on my delivery. I'm not an Natural storyteller. I'm really not sure How To improve on it . I might be doomed. I don't have that quick cat like reflexes In my normal speech anyway
Really that's not nice 🤦

Just how much did you weaken that control arm?
Thats a factory bolt hole location, I would doubt by any at all

Those brake hose do just fine rachet tight. No way those bolts should be anywhere as tight as the brakes themselves. I swear they're air wrenched by shops
Good except I don’t like removing that much material on the control arm and I know it probably won’t make a shit bit of difference but it’s like a screeching chalkboard to me
Factory bolt hole location, it'll be fine 🙂
I wouldn't use W-D 40 makes the drill bit slip use cutting oil you'll see the difference.
