Use to listen to WMPP in 1974 when I was stuck in a car all day everyday on the job. Car had AM only. MPP was all the way to the right on the radio dial. I was a white boy who dug the jazz and the blues.

I was Born in Chicago in 61 & Starting Listing to WVON in 65, WGRT (Later WJPC) Around the Summer of 67, but that Station had to Go Off the Air at 6pm because it Was on the Same Frequency as WWJ 950 in Detroit (then CBS Owned) & WWJ has a Strong Ass Signal & you Could hear WWJ in Chicago After 6pm & Other Midwestern States, or in Other Words WGRT/WJPC's Signal would Overlap with WWJ's Stronger Signal at Night in Chicago & Bump Heads. But as for WMPP, I Never Heard this Station.

69 I think?? Summer. Found this station on a portable AM radio. Buddy Bell Dedication Hour. Albert King "Night Stomp" the lead in. Able to pick it up in Hegewisch. Sometimes you could sometimes you couldn't pick it up on Eastside GWHS senior year study hall. "This goes out to Delores in Gary In."

This was an amazing show, as was every show I saw. One of a kind music. A musical visionary, as was everyone in the Airplane. An icon who brought folk into rock and was the part of the immortal soundtrack of the 60's and for me, surpassed that with his solo work in the 70's. Check out the albums Blows From The Empire, Sunfighter, and Baron Von Tollbooth and the Chrome Nun. RIP Paul Kantner.
