@@jkenific Meant every word! I'm more interested in Abstract expressionism but like all forms of creativity. I'm a self taught artist who has been inspired everyday to paint since my retirement. Have been painting for 9 years in solitude. Watched many videos on art history, viewed many, many art exhibitions, art fairs, museums etc.. Coming from a completely different discipline, I find the art milieu very competitive and more about making money than art, to say the truth... Nevertheless, I love the medium and I continue to use it as a very efficient self-expressive tool. If you could make a video on mentoring, I would appreciate it. Many thanks !

@@jkenific I will keep creating because it is my connection to a part of me that remains mysterious. I'm an observer of the creative process as much as a creator. I believe that our subconscious is a world of wonder waiting to be explored and as we engage with it an incredible relationship is establish that nourishes our creativity beyond the predictable. The Automatist mouvement( in Quebec, Canada with Emile Borduas) in painting as well as the Surrealists in France and Spain have touched on that. Dream and art are cousins. We are all creators even when we do not know it. Art is life and the only creative block that exists is the fear of being authentic. I believe that. Your videos are super useful and I appreciate the dialogue. Many thanks again!

"Good" is such a vague term. As a fine artist who switched from wanting to be an animator I realized I didn't want to work in that sweat shop environment and that I didn't like being told my drawing skill level wasn't "good" enough. As fine artists we are free to create as we see fit and put our work out to be FOUND by our audience. Our audience is the people who resonates with our work, it has nothing to do with good or bad because what others may love or act like they love because someone else said they like it doesn't mean you will like it. I respect Basquiat and Picasso, I don't necessarily like their paintings. I respect Picasso because he broke the "rules" and painted what he wanted to paint, not what the so called art world or his father thought he should paint and became the most famous artist of all time. He didn't paint to seek approval, he painted because he had to for himself and found his audience in the process. As far as commercial art goes that's a touchy subject in my opinion because the wrong criticism can literally crush the confidence of a fragile ego or an insecure person. It happened to me. I had an audition for The Simpsons and American Dad and failed and threw away all my sketchbooks and said I'd never draw again. Thankfully I didn't stop drawing but I learned that the environment of working for others under their rules and critiques was not for me. NEVER forget that negative criticism of Hitler's paintings (yes, he was an artist for those who didn't know) was a contributing factor to the anger that drove him into being who he was so be careful not to care too much about criticism from others about your work. Keep on painting..😎

Hello. I learned this a few years back. It wasn't pleasant. It made me rethink things about if it was worth writing books at all. Since then I began writing again. I just started to ignore the negative things anyone had to say about my work, and just keep writing, and creating. What I learned is that what I create only matters to me. These are my creations. My art, and I am the one making the effort to create them. Not anyone else. No one has to like them. My greatest success is publishing my own work. No one helped me with creating anything. I'm proud of my creativity.

Hello. I did so many research on other people, and their attitudes really got in the way. It even ended their lives. Before I started my journey I saw the reality of how things may not come true. I also learned how other people did things that I won't do to get fame. My success is completing a task, and the ability to use this work on my book covers, or music album covers. I also learned to not look for approval from anyone. I wanted to be as independent as possible without any influence.
