How To Tell A Roof Needs To Be Replaced (4 indicators you must inform your clients about)
Hey I am in California but soft washing doesn’t work here, everyone I know pressure washes and not a single company here does soft washing. Even though I am reluctant to pressure wash, every single time i soft washed it never got rid of a single piece of mold/algae on the roofs. I applied multiple coats of 6% mix to multiple roofs, let it sit for 30, rinses and apply another coat and never have I made a single bit of progress. Which is interesting, perhaps there is a different variation of algae here.
That is interesting. Is it hot out when you are spraying the roofs? Is it staying wet for 15 min before rinsing? California has odd rules so I’m not sure what is allowed. Take a bottle of pool bleach and do a test spot with it straight and see if the growth reacts to it. If not then it may be non organic. Want those if roofs are you trying to clean?
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Thanks good important
Just trying to make sure people don’t lose more money!
when i plug up Christmas together and trying to go from one spot to another
I’m not quite understanding your question or statement. Can you clarify
Hi Brandon, I used chatgpt to see about more eye catching titles. Here's the three that it came up with . Might help attract more views. I want to see this channel blow up!.. "Transform Your Home with Christmas Lights Your Neighbors Will Envy! 🎄✨" "Jaw-Dropping Christmas Light Installations to Make Your Street Shine Bright! 🌟" "Next-Level Holiday Lights to Leave Your Neighbors in Awe! 🎅🎁✨"
Thanks! Looks like those came from VidIQ. Love that!
This is why i love gear drives
Haven’t seen one up here in WA yet. I will keep my eyes open though because that would be a great place to find extra stuff

Wow! Amazing
Great video, but start from the top and if you need work your way down.
👏👏💪
Do you use a 4-6% pre, white tip, and post for aggregate? I’m in the PNW too and it’s this, gravel, or asphalt out here. My units a 4K psi, have to throttle down on these jobs. Nice work 👌 she’s shiny
I change the percentage based on material and organics. For moss I go 4% minimum. For discolored concrete I usually use 2% just to break up the surface tension. For the PSI, I throttle down on concrete to avoid lines. In aggregate I keep it pretty high since they are a lot of odd angles to get into. Where in the PNW are you? I’m looking for a lead tech if you are in the maple valley Washington area
@ that’s a ton of help man thank you 🙏 I’ve got a big aggregate job coming up. I’m just north of the border from you. Over here on Van Island, running my own small set up out of my truck. If I wasn’t I’d join in, You know your shit. Seattle actually reminds me more of Victoria than Vancouver does lol. I like your guys’ state.
@lastnamefirst650 I’m glad I could help! I hope the job goes well. Are you on Google? Make sure you are taking before and after pictures and keeping your Google business page up to date
Oh man I heard you can crack cedar shake if you step on it wrong! How do you navigate these roofs?
Yeah, cedar is not my favorite at all. I wear korkers made for cedar to give me grip. Then when I walk in the cedar I make sure that my foot is on two shingles at a time so that if one cracks or slides I still have the other to hold my foot. I walk carefully and watch for loose, rotten or cracked shingles. I am not an expert in cedar roofing by any means. 90% of what I clean is asphalt shingle. Hope this helps
Would you be able to do a short explaining the pull and tighten part? Never seen a gutter cleaning vid mention that. Want to do it properly the first time
Are you wanting to see how to pull debris from the gutter and how to tighten gutter spikes and brackets?
@ExteriorCleaning4Real More on the bracket stuff. I’ve never seen another channel do it. how to properly loosen and tighten brackets so you know you’re not damaging them, what to do if one pops out so you know you reinstalled them correctly. That stuff. Do you loosen just a couple in the middle? Staggered? Cheers thx
Great to see how you handle the moss and it comes out looking so much better!
I need to get some footage of 1, 2 and 3 months later too so people can see how long it takes for the dead moss to come down
Nice work!
Thanks!
Great video! What size 12 volt pump is that and what nozzle size is that when you’re applying chem on the deck?
It is a REMCO 12V 7GPM I want to say the prayer tip is just a fan tip rated for the GPM I’m using
I got the same exact pump. It can be a few diff sizes nozzles. If you ever take a look and find out the exact nozzle size please let me know. Thanks
@dandellasala983 1/4MEG 2540 for fan 0040 for shooter
your solution seems to foam up nice. Do you add soap? What kind? Percentage in mix? Thks for your vids!
I use lauramine oxide. I put about 2-3oz per gallon of water on my auxiliary soap tank. You can put about 1-2oz per gallon if you are batch mixing. If you don’t have a distributor close then you can just order elimonator or soap from southeast softwash.
That thumbnail is rocking!
Thanks!
That’s how it’s done. Great work. I would share that video with my client. A Winner
Thank you!
Great content, as always! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Ladders, metal roofs, higher 2-3 story roofs, working on a roof above a pool enclosure, sketchy gutter locations, anything you get chlorine on is super slippery, cutting your hand on the pressure nozzle like butter, hoses blowing right beside you. I’ve been passionate about exterior cleaning for 4 years and I concur this job is Dangerous….. and always part of my pricing. Hope you feel better bro.
Thanks man! Stay safe out there!
He will be deeply missed, he was so hopeful to many guys in our industry. Stay safe and God bless
Just had a fellow "Cleaning" guy pass away here in the North East from a ladder accident. Is this the same person? You said North West. 1:08
Most likely the same person yes. I did mean north east.
Shoot me an email with “UA-cam” in the subject line and we can talk offline about the details
Hello, I’m new in this with EDDM I don’t know where does the indicia Retail does to go
If you are inside the U.S. then study this page. It has all the details. If you get stuck, go to your local post office and ask for guidance. www.usps.com/business/every-door-direct-mail.htm
Thanks for the video. You mentioned insurance claims. Would you put a claim in for damages to bushes? I like your saying “ the less time on the roof the better
Personally I won’t put in an insurance claim unless it is outside my ability to fix. Example, dead plant, I would just replace it instead of having my insurance go up.
Looks awesome. I’m going to get some. After 2 years in I found HUKS and that greatly improved my metal roof abilities. Thanks man, great info
Absolutely! Come back and let me know what you think once you wear them a while.
@ I will.
Do you park you gear in the garage or cover? The electric motor reel is waterproof?
I park it outside right now because I don’t have a place to park it inside. Everything is waterproof but I have a tarp that goes over it in cold weather and a heater for the back to keep stuff from freezing. It doesn’t get freezing cold up here very much but it does happen a few times per year. I definitely recommend to park your equipment inside if you have the ability to but it isn’t a requirement as long as things are put together to make it waterproof
love that skid, who did you have build that for you?
all clean power systems
plus those things bend the arms and then lose their holding strength if you have to adjust a lot
Absolutely, or they crumble in the cold. Pretty much everyone should use circle clips.
That’s just moss.
That is moss. And it should not be on your asphalt shingle roof because it breaks down your roofing material, holds in moisture that causes roof damage over time and destroys the UV reflecting properties in your roofing material.
@ ok do it need to be cleaned yearly?
@DonnaChamberson with a roof wash (softwash) you need it washed every 2-4 years depending on your location, how much sun you get and how many trees you have around your house. Up here in the NorthWest it is common to need it every 2-3 years due to the long wet season, lots of trees and perfect growing conditions for moss and algae
Washing the roof will cause more damage than leaving it alone.
Softwashing a roof does not cause damage and it actually the recommended method by roofing companies like GAF. Things that do cause damage: - Allowing moss, mildew and algae to grow on and feed off of the roofing material. - Scrubbing a roof with abrasive metal brushes which remove grit. - Cleaning the roof with high pressure (such as a pressure washer) which rips up roofing material. Insurance companies are refusing the issue homeowners insurance for homes that have moss on them. It is not just an aesthetic thing, it is a health and longevity boost for your roof.
@ExteriorCleaning4Real agree to disagree. For everything. Including your insurance comment. But if I was correctly you would have as much business.
Just watching you go near the edge and looking over made me nausy.
Definitely hire someone to do your roof for ya. That is a very common feeling. It means your self preservation meter isn’t broken like mine.
Im in washington. What would you charge? Rambler, 1800 sqft
It depends on the roof condition, material, pitch and access. Between $600-900 typically in my area. Minimum $500 **This information is for education purposes and is in no way a quote or estimate. For a quote from the company I own, please go to SpartanWG.com and follow the Quote links.
Red Bull gives you wings. Hazard pay for sure.
Lol
Wish I had more roof jobs. Most people don’t realize their roofs can be soft washed.
We just have to get better at educating people on what roof washing is and how it is beneficial. Try talking to them about the price of a new roof or the cost of having home owners insurance cancelled
Do a flip!
He's flipping the house 🫨
I always figured the rain washed the roof.
Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. Roofing material feeds organisms that eventually turn your roof black and grow moss. Roof washing prevents that growth or kills the growth that is already there. Pressure should never be used on roofing material because it can cause damage
🍻

How do you guys like the shadow 2
I have not used the shadow 2 before. How do you like it?
@ if any chance your near an indoor gun range that rents guns try it out or the xde 45
@parentsvskids9129 I will take a trip to do that hopefully soon. I want to try out a couple 1911 and 2011 frames
Nice job throwing big words around. Really, any household cleaner will work.
Use white vinegar if worried about vegetation dying. Vinegar won't kill it.🌱
Perfect!
Thank you for the advice.
Absolutely. Hope it helps
What about the surrounding vegetation and …
Good question. Rinsing before and after will keep the surrounding vegetation from getting damaged. In the case of this video, the type of surrounding vegetation is tough and it was rinsed down thoroughly. The ground was also rinsed completely after the video. If you DIY make sure you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting messed up in case you splash. And yes, always rinse rinse rinse
Right up until the bleach gets onto your plants and you watch them die and nothing will grow again. Maybe soap and a scrub brush instead? My BF had a puppy die from parvovirus and someone told him bleach kills that. He sprayed his yard - everything died including a big old tree - 30 years later still nothing grows.
That is tragic. I work with bleach every day and have not seen it do that much damage. Normally the correct dilution and proper before and after rinsing will ensure everything is diluted to a safe level. I’m so sorry to hear you had that experience :/
@ Hi, That was years ago another life he had. I would gather he did full on bleach and saturated everything. Good to know diluting it doesn’t do that kind of damage.
Ty
Makes perfect sense😊
So… clean it… got it
lol. Yep. But don’t do it with a rag like some people try to
