I moved out to Montauk in 2007 from Huntington NY when I got a full time job at the Highway Department. I remember sitting down at Navy road, eating my lunch and watching a couple guys fishing just off the beach in kayaks. I thought to myself, thats got the be a hell of a time. In 2014 I bought my first kayak. After I caught my first fish I was HOOKED maybe even obsessed with kayak fishing. Ive since upgraded to a 2016 Hobie Outback and it opened up a new world of opportunities that I wasn't able to do with a paddle kayak. Now Im always out there, whether its on the weekends, a small break in the weather after work etc. I am always looking at my next opportunity to get out there and catch some fish and grab some great footage. I plan on making a lot more videos and fishing more challenging areas, so if you like the videos hit the thumbs up button and subscribe because there will be a lot more to come in the future! Also, If your out there in your yaks or boats feel free to say hi!

Its been tough to get back in the swing of things but this trip was absolutely insane and I'm sure it had him smiling from ear to ear! When we got out to our intended location it only took about 20 minutes to find the fish and from then on it was just lights out crazy! I hope you guys enjoy and I'm looking forward to cranking out some more videos for you guys!!

Any fishing this year?
a friendly reminder. When hooked up on the troll keep the boat in gear, or at the very least bumping it in and out. That keeps the fish behind the boat and the hook tight in his mouth.
Nice, how deep you usually fish for fluke there?
Everyone complains about the CG until you need them! Nice catch man...love Montauk!!
Nice Video, looking to get teh HObie catch bag for this year. What is that tool you are using at 12:23? Does it come with the bag?
Thank you! Hobie’s are great kayaks. Good luck! It’s called a Fish Stringer. You can find them on Amazon. It’s like a big paper clip. You put the point through the gills and out of the mouth and clip it closed. Just make sure the stringer is always attached to the kayak at all times. I lost a nice fish because i didn’t attach the stringer to the kayak 🤢. Lol

Sorry to here about dad brotha my condogens
Great to see you back in action Jim! My sincerest condolences for your father’s passing! I hope we can get at least one session in together this summer on the kayak!
need a video on how to fish light bucktails i cant feel bottom at all... do u just wait till line goes slack?
i could never feel bottom with 1 oz
Depending on tide and wind conditions i generally use 1oz to 1.5oz. I have two setups that i use the most, one has 10lb test and the other 15lb test with a 20lb floro leader. Idk what lb test you run but i saw a huge difference in weight when i went from 30lb to 10-15lb. Also, I’m a firm believer that kayaks drift a lot different than boats. The smaller profile of a kayak probably doesn’t have as much resistance in the tide as a boat does. When I’m on my dads boat out on the south side depending on the spot i generally use 1.5oz to 4oz depending on the spot we are fishing.
what did they stop you for
I'm your 1,000 subscriber!!!!!! Congratulations.
I might have missed it but what rod is that that you are using. Hoping to get some good light tackle before next year. Trying to get up there in your neck of the woods early
hey hows it going, do you need specific permits with a kayak in long island or NY in general?
very good video. I don't understand all Hobie kayak had leaks regardless new or old, for charging that much money can't even fix those minor problem
Thanks! Yea i know right! There’s got to be a way to do it that they don’t leak but this is a great solution. I replace the seal on the lid every couple years just to be careful.

I just bought a kayak, not sure from where to launch, are you launching from Montauk
Hey Yak, which version of the Harrier is that? The M or the MH?
MH. I love it, i might get the M too!
@@yakinwithbigfoot3832 I'm assuming, because you're on the kayak, that it's the 6' 6" version?
@@yakinwithbigfoot3832 I have the older version of the Harrier (blue) HRJ64MHB. Great little rod.
Man it look like it turned out to be a nice day for you on the water. I can tell as the day went on the weather conditions got better for you to fish. Man you caught some nice ones to put in the bag. I hope you and your family have a good weekend.
Thanks Mack, i was pretty lucky considering the conditions. Family is good man. Baby #2 is a month out ha. Hope all is good on your end!
@Yakin With Bigfoot Hello buddy how's it going? I just want to say Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope you enjoyed your holiday with your family.
great video again..keep up the videos im living through your eyes. I bought a hobie myself but got hurt at work and ruined my right shoulder and my neck . So im not able to pick up anything heavy above my neck so I had to sell my new kayak . so watching your videos is the next best thing. Tight lines and stay safe
I’m sorry to hear about your injury man. Maybe one day you’ll get out on a kayak! I’m glad you enjoy the videos, got a couple good ones coming out soon!
@@yakinwithbigfoot3832 will lol but just can't pick it up lol.
As always a great video, thanks for sharing. Living in the west with just lakes, I don't think I would be able to get on water that choppy on my yak.
Yea it takes some getting used to the first couple trips. Only time it’s a little iffy is when the sea is to the stern. Just gotta constantly be ready to adjust the rudder.
Great trip! Good catch. Thanks for sharing!
🤙🏼🤙🏼
Nice to see you out there catching some fluke! It sure can get snotty out around that point so I give you lots of credit for doing it in a yak.
Thanks man! I’ve actually been out in much worse but this time it was manageable ha.
Do you mainly kayak north side of Montauk? Thanks
Nice video bub how do i get on the Montauk kayak fishing team? Also i think we need a review video on that cooler bag
Haha i have been thinking about doing a video on my whole setup and when i do that I’ll make sure to do a little piece on the cooler bag for sure!
Awsom Day Jim Ya Three Should Make A Video Together Each One On The Screen
Ha yea that would be cool!
Your commentary is hilarious man, such an incredible day I won't soon forget, thanks for taking me along with you! Such a beautiful place with big fish and we had a great day to be out there, I really can't wait to go again with you guys.
Haha thanks! Yea man it was a great day on the water! Glad we all went home with some meat!
Awesome day out there Jim, we could not have asked for better conditions on a Saturday! You know it’s a good day when we’re tossing back keeper sea bass and have fluke in the bag!
Hell yea man! Hopefully we can all get out together again before the seasons over!
I gotta get tye kayak up there next year
congrats on the baby boy!
Ahhhhh Yes. Hi Brother.. One day come over and explain a user-friendly editing program for me. I have some prime hog meat for you if you want. Great to see you on the water again. Psssssss Im frothing for bow season.. Great fishing and video..
Great day. Fun watching! Thanks!
Hello brother how you doing? Man you had a good day on the water man. That was a nice big 4 pound you got man. That's awesome man. Man you caught a lot of fish & your father-in-law is eating good. Good video brother thank you for sharing it. P.S. my buddy that go out kayaking with me is all way said to me i have some very long feet. I see what he is talking about now. Man me & you have some very very long feet man. I never paid attention to how long a size 15 foot is. You take it easy brother & have a good one.
Let’s go! I may have to try out some of those fish bites!
They are great. On their website i got the grubs for $6.99. In stores they are a little more.
Those sea robins are good eating!!!
Ha yea i had a buddy at work that i would take every one i caught ha. Always thought about trying one.
We call them gurnard in NZ, they are a prime eating species, really sweet flesh
Hey great vid, how deep were you fishing when you used the 3/4 bucktail, and is this a medium action harrier?
It’s the Moderate Fast action. Between 20-30 feet.
Sorry I meant power, medium power?
@@anthonyroccojr4049 heavy power.
Hey biggie foot ! Flukin has been tough for me also. But striper action in the sound has been stellar. Always a pleasure to watch pal
Hey bud! Yea fluke bite has been kind of iffy here too. But it just got red hot. Part 2 will be coming our shortly and it’s non stop action!
@@yakinwithbigfoot3832 outstanding !
Hey buddy how you doing? Good video brother. Look like it was a good day on the water. I'm sorry to hear about your camera giving you issues on the water. That was funny in the video at 6:05 where you had your feet kicked up and you was laid back fishing. Can't get no better than that besides having a cold drink with that. When me & my 6 boys are kayaking we do the same thing. My boys like to call that ( cruise control ). I sorry to hear about the coast calls you had on the water but I'm glad you're okay especially the one in the foot or the leg. I got a hook stuck in my big toe couple of weeks ago. Me & my family was on a kayak camping trip with my wife coworkers family & i was fishing at the time & i went to set the hook & in went into my right side big toe man. When my wife saw it she started freaking out. I had to keep telling my wife to calm down it's okay. She kept asking me do you need to go to the hospital & I kept saying I'm okay. It hurt but I'm okay. With me being a chubby fat dude i have very chubby fat wide toes my big toe is about 2" inches wide & when it got done swelling up it was probably 2 1/2 to 3" inches wide. Man you want to talk about something that hurt cuz that hook was in my toes. This happened Friday during the day and I kept going with the trip until Sunday night when the trip was over. Good video brother thank you for sharing.
How do you hold bottom with such light tackle?
My braid is no heavies then 15lb on any of my reels. This one is the first putting 10lb on. Going from a heavier test to 10-15 can create less drag in the water. Shorter leaders can help too, just enough to protect from any abrasion. More leader, the more drag it created in the water. I was on my dads boat a week ago and didn’t use anything heavier that a 3oz in the rips. They all had mono and using 8-10oz ha. What lb is your test?
@@yakinwithbigfoot3832 I’m using 50lb braid but I use shorter leaders and at least 6 to 8 oz maybe I need to switch it up a little
@@hamptonshillbilly2191 yea man i had 30 on my reels when i first started using braid. Then someone convinced me to go much lighter and that following winter i had all my reel re spooled. Night and day difference. Just have your drag set correctly and it will be just fine, but you obviously already know that. The 10lb Fluke i got last year was on a setup that i had 15lb test and a 20lb floro leader, came up with ease ha.
@@yakinwithbigfoot3832 I’m going to rework my gear this winter I think fine tune it
@@hamptonshillbilly2191 yea man. My heavier conventional do have 30 on them but that’s what i use for live lining for bass and stuff but all my inshore stuff is as light as possible. It makes a huge difference.
Saw these Bama Saltwtwater channel last week. I ordered FishBites Fight Club Lures - 5" Dirty Boxer Curly Tail
Haha thanks! Yea i have a few packages of them as well! When the tide slows up and the bites does out i find those smaller baits are better.
Big foot got dad jokes😂🎣
haha comes natural
I gotta get up there with ya someday. Biggest fluke is a 4.1 and sea bass rather not say lmao. Good to see the videos. Helps a lot
Great video my man 🤙🎣 tight lines
I use Tsunami Slim Wave rod with my Quantum Accurist. Trolled a 22” Striper first fish on it.
Hello brother man I just now noticed that your foot & my foot are the same size. I just now noticed that. I just knew that you was like me you like to kayak barefooted 👣 Style. This was a good video man you caught some nice fish out there. Man you had me laughing in the video at 10:15 where you threw that fish back in the water. Man that was so funny but I understand the frustration though. I hope you get a chance to get out and do some kayak fishing brother before you had to turn back to the family. Good video brother thank you for sharing.
Yo foot ! Great to see you get out ! Hope all is well !
Great to see you stepping back on the Yak! Hoping to get out there in August/September! With a little luck we can relive those glory days of 2019!
Ha Yes! Getting out there is tough having a kids now but in just a few short years they will be out there slaying the Mats with us!
PA looks great! Nice vid.
thanks man! really love it, so much room for storage and plenty comfortable for those long trips!
Hello brother how you doing? Man it is so awesome to see you do another video man. I really really been missing you videos man. How are you doing buddy I hope everything is going okay for you. I hope you had a good Father's Day and 4th of July holiday. I sent a comment out several months ago I don't know if you received it or not seeing how you were doing and was everything okay cuz I haven't seen a video from you in a while. That was some nice flukes you caught man. I'm getting ready to go on a big huge kayak trip next weekend. I going Friday , Saturday , & part Sunday. I did a 30 mile kayak camping trip on Father's Day weekend and caught me a 5 lb Bass that weekend. I was surprised i caught it because it was 95° that weekend. Everything is going well for me and my family man. I just had a grandson on June 25th at 9:53 a.m. . My grandson Noah was born 10 lb & 15 oz . He is a big boy. He got a big head , big hand , big wide feet which i knew he would have because his dad has very wide feet which my son got from me. My son said for Noah to be 100% Jenkins family member he needed a pair of flip flops to wear because according to the Jenkins history records the Jenkins family only wears flip flops. Which is true my family will only wear flip flops because of them having very very wide feet. All 6th of my boys have very wide feet & they won't wear shoes or socks because it crushes and hurts they toes & my 3th son John his toes are grow socks because of his toes being equally straight across just like my toes are. Last Saturday I went out and bought my grandson Noah his first pair of flip flops and sandals to wear so he will be 100% Jenkins family member. The doctor told me that Noah was going to have big very very wide feet when he becomes an adult. My mother said that Noah's toes look exactly like mines toes did when I was born and my toes are now a sz15 6E wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. I was worried if my grandson's foot was going to outgrow these sandals and flip flops really really fast and I was right. I just got a phone call on Thursday when I was down in Dallas Texas delivering a load that my grandson Noah feet done already outgrew his flip flops and sandals already. The flip flops won't fit on his feet anymore and on the sandals his toes are hanging off the front of the sandals. Not even a week went by and he's a newborn. His sandals and flip-flops were cheap so I bought like 10 pairs in different sizes cuz I knew his foot was going to be growing but not this fast. When we was trying to sandals on I had to adjust the Velcro straps wide enough for the toes so we could fit his toes on the sandals without it crashing or hurting his toes. So he is going to have a Wide too cuz they are already wide the doctor said for a baby. Brother I am so happy to be a grandfather cuz I want to teach him how to kayak , kayak camping , kayak fishing. I am now a proud grandfather of a granddaughter and grandson. I hope you and your family had a good weekend. It was good seeing a video from you brother. Hope to see another one soon.
Hey Mack! Thanks man my 4th and fathers day were the best yet and I'm sure will get better and better every year! Family is good, my son is now 2 and a half and boy number two will be here in October! Time on the kayak is kind of limited these days but hopefully in a few short years they will be out there with me stuffing their cooler bags! Congrats on the new Grandson! I know the feeling with the big feet, I'm a 15 extra wide and I would give anything to go to a store and pick out a pair of shoes but during the summer these babies gotta be free in some flip flops, thats a lot of sweaty realestate to shove in a shoe! haha. Hope all is well and thanks for always watching! Working on a few new videos as we speak so its back to work ha!
@@yakinwithbigfoot3832 hey buddy how you doing? Man it's good to hear from you. That's awesome to hear your father's day and the 4th was the best & it's getting better every year. That's awesome to hear your family is doing very well and your son is 2 and a half years old & your 2 boys will be here in October! Congratulations to you buddy I'm very happy for you man that's awesome to hear buddy. I have 6 boys man. I understand about the kayaking being limited right now. But like you say in a couple of years there will be out there putting fish in the bag as well with their dad. & there's no better feeling than kayak fishing with your sons man trust me on this. Thank you man I appreciate that my grandson is getting big really really fast. When I bought him his first pair of flip flops and sandals he outgrew them within less than a weeks time. My daughter-in-law went to go put my grandson flip flops on his feet and she could not get them to fit on him so she went and picked up the sandals and when she put them on his toes were hanging off the front of the sandals. It's a good thing that I bought more than one pair of flip flops and sandals and in different sizes cuz I knew this was going to happen but not this fast. Oh man me and you are the same size man I'm a sz15 too. But I am extremely wide though. I am a sz15 6E wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. You're a sz15 extra wide? Do you know how wide your foot is by any chance? Cuz I cannot find any shoes that are wide enough to fit my foot. I have to wear my flip flop Year round in the winter time when it 20° & 30° degree outside because of my toes being equally straight across. It sounds like you have the same problem I had can't find shoes inside the store. It's a shame how these stores discriminate against guys like us with big feet. The only size these stores wants to go up to is sz13. Oh you like to wear flip flops as well. Man that is awesome to hear I got to agree with you on that got to be free in some flip flops man. I love how flip flops help keep your feet from sweating man. With me having big feet and very extremely wide feet with very fat wide toes they sweat very very easily man I don't know if you had this problem or not. Quick question buddy what kind of flip-flops are you wearing? I only found one kind of flip flops that are in size 15. I take it your son is going to have a big foot like yours. All 6th of my boys have very wide feet except for My 3th son John whose foot is exactly identical twin to my foot. He is only 12 years old with a sz13 4 EEEE wide with big toe that are equally straight across making his foot very very at 4 1/2 to 5 " inches wide from his big toe to his lil toe. He's done already outgrew his socks it's just a matter of time I think he's going to out grow his shoes. So keep an eye on your son's feet. Again it was awesome to hear from you brother thank you. P.S. brother can you keep me posted on the newborns.
I like seeing the single jig, I’m always torn between using a teaser
