Honestly even without mods the game is still fantastic! Weird take but ngl I think mods obfuscate both how well it holds up and how impressive it really was for the time and hardware

No yeah big time! I think there's a lot of exaggeration around Zack's part in Shinra/the Wutai War that's like, sorta morphed into being how people genuinely perceive him, but I think it's really important to recognize the cultural aspects inherent to Zack becoming a SOLDIER and his general youth tying into that, both stuff that's talked about a lot regarding Cloud but not nearly as much with Zack.

Weiss was genuinely one of the more fun fights in the game! I do think him and Rosso both have the same issue of being like, melee-focused bosses in a game where Vincent's melee is NOT GREAT, turning them mostly into just running in circles and shooting like literally every other fight in the game, but Weiss' moveset at least lets him spice things up a bit more. that said i really am NEVER getting over nero literally whose idea was this
