Whitebaiting The River Mouth
We're down at the very front today fishing the small tide. It's another long day at the river with Ben and Sam catching a small flurry of run bait

Whitebaiting During A Flood - 2024

The first day of the 2024 season on the river with the boys. The river is extremely dirty and high due to heavy rains over the past few days bu that wasn't going to stop us from getting a net in. It wasn't the best days fishing but the weather cleared up and we managed to go home with a feed which is what we came for so overall not a bad start to the season.

Didn't think you were allowed to fish before daylight?
what made you think that?
I like the creative camera work @5:32
Good morning bro It’s going really good on the west coast at the moment yesterday my father got 100kg 😮 witch is ridiculous congrats on 1k 😊
@@Harveyshuntingandfishing let me know if dad wants to sell the lot for $30 per lb
@@jerrybow8779na bro what you going to do with 100kg you will probably resell it 😢
Hello,is this illegal, whitebaiting is the hours of daylight 😮
perfectly legal, 5am till 8pm are the hours
You're ALL GOOD BRO 5am to 8pm and 6am to 9pm Daylight Savings hours
@@JKWILDapart from the 4m of gobys you have out😂
What a stupid question 😂
Good job dude nice feed well deserved 🐛🐛🐛🐛🐛
What do ya do with these mate? Love this from south western Australia 🤙
what we don't eat ourselves gets given away to friends and family and anything left over gets frozen for Christmas
where is this?
Lower north island
Mean brother
Nic day dude good catch 👌
Thanks for that Jacob you are an influence to people to get out and do it We caught 6kg in the South Island in one day blind scooping in the surf you should definitely organise a trip ❤
shot bro I appreciate the message and will definitely come down at some point, 6kg blind scooping is pretty nuts
Only way I get my fix of whitebaiting cheers bro 👌 🎉
Thought you could only have screens on one side of net law must of changed since I went last
Yeah bro can have screens wherever
@@JKWILD You 100% Cant
@@poker1019 its only the West Coast that has that rule bro: When setting up your gear, any configuration of nets and screens is allowed, except on the West Coast. For example, you could use a 2 m screen, then your net, then a 1 m screen on the outside of your net. See Additional rules - West Coast for the different rules that apply on the West Coast. Read the title I'm in the north island
Otihanga river bro ?
little bit further south
Some big lifts there! Do u keep the whitebait with the brown heads, or just the ones with pure clear heads and bodies?
only the clear ones, I try to sort through them at the river but the ones I miss get picked out when I get home
Was this a old video or recent
I filmed it about a month ago
no sharks??
nah I was actually surprised that there weren't any sharks, maybe too cold for them
hey bro what are your whiteboards/spotters made of not much info online cheers
haven't used those ones in a while but they are just aluminium panels that we got from a mate and spray painted them white. I now use old pvc curtain rails and smaller pvc pipes
You fucking unit good shit my man ❤
gun
Thinking of getting a Box set net because it light fold down fit in my we car ,Have done bit white baiting over years with Big Set nets .But thinking getting Nacsan Mesh Collapsible Whitebait Set Net 4ft think be ok
Enjoying your videos Jacob. It's worth saving up and buying a basic finder. You can get a variety of portable transducer holders so that you don't have to fix it to the boat. I use my finder in my kayak and boat..
Cheers Steve. It's definitely on my list of things to purchase and I've used them in the past so know how useful a nice finder can be, just waiting till i can get some more time away from work and rugby and get out on the water more
Yes yes yes you fuckin legend ❤
How many meters of screens/goby’s you using there?don’t the regs say 3 meters max
Yeah bro 3 meters
Mean bro hope you have a good season this year!!
3:20 This moments are gold. I suppose I will get a few of those when I will start woodworking. 🤣
My husband used these plans from woodprix and he's very satisfied. However. I love Yours !
I know this place all too we’ll have caught good here every time
looks like a mean spot aye although I've only ever fished this one time
what day
Good scoop bro
530 lol u guy's showed up at 10 the night before🤣
😂😂😂 we did go down to have a look the night before but weren't quite keen enough to stay the night for half a pound
Mi mi mi mint
Nice one bro you need to come to South Island west coat we got 18kg in 1 day someone got 100kg in one day but i only had a small scope net
The more I hear about the baiting down south the keener I am to come down but that's a crazy catch bro I'd be so keen to experience that
Nice one bro! Cant wait to get out this weeknd. Hanging out for a fritter.
Nice video, hope to see more trips! Going to give whitebaiting a go for the first time this weekend
Nice boy! You lads need to do a mish to the South Island! It will blow your minds
yeah bro I've heard heaps about the fishing down there and definitely thinking about doing a trip
actually look so good !!!
I-recall catching six snapper in half an hour where I could touch the bottom with the dinghy oar and have my hand out of the water. Tauranga harbour.
that's nuts bro, must of been mean
@@JKWILD My father in law told of snapper tails sticking out of the water near Tanners point, during the day as the snappers dug in the cockles beds. When I caught those six snapper I used to smoke and ended up throwing a cigarette I had lit, away because I wasn't able to enjoy while having to deal with the fish.
Hmm, why do you call this "non-permanent"?
since I haven't concreted the posts in it'll be a lot easier to remove than if they were concreted and I feel like concreting anything is always with done with idea that it'll be permanent
Nice time capsule for the future!
Good job.
Nice one boys
How big is that dinghy? Thinking of upgrading from a 3 meter/10 ft tinny to something more bigger and stable. Cheers nice video!
How big is that boat?
Nice footage, not an easy goal with no sounder. The shark at the end 😱😱
yeah bro, the satisfaction when we get one will be much greater than what it might have been with a proper set up
