Mini JCW (F56/F57) | Road test & review
Переглядів 8 тис.4 роки тому
I think the choice is now made for the next daily, based on this evidence... The local Mini dealer sent us home overnight in an F57 convertible ahead of potentially ordering an F56 (3 door hatch) JCW. More on that soon but for now, come along for a ride in the convertible version. Thanks for watching.
Porsche 718 Boxster T | Road test & review
Переглядів 22 тис.4 роки тому
I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days nipping around in a 718 Boxster T, and loved every moment of it! The engine may not be quite the star turn, but the chassis most definitely is, and the way these 718s ride, corner and perform dynamically is deeply impressive. Heated, low-slung sports seats locate the driver ideally in the car, the driving position is spot on, the 7 speed PDK is impre...
Porsche Cayenne S | 2020 model year | Road test & review

A short review of the latest bi-turbo Porsche Cayenne S. The ride and handling appear to have improved markedly over the last few years. I quite liked this one. And the engine is a belter! More soon. Thanks for watching.
Porsche Panamera S eHybrid (970) | Ownership Review | Plus Panamera 4 eHybrid comparison.
Переглядів 35 тис.5 років тому
I've owned a Porsche Panamera S eHybrid (970 gen 2) for just over two years and 34k miles. In this film we'll go over the ownership experience, including costs, repairs, warranty work, recalls and servicing. I also drive the Panamera 4 eHybrid 971 latest version, and draw comparisons between the two models. Uploaded again with audio fix work completed

What's it like to live with a modern Three Series? I've written about this car in BMW Car Magazine for the past three years, here I go through the drive and the ownership experience.

Just ordered my 25 plate
@@lukey1210 Nice one enjoy!
I cannot decide whether to go for Panamera Sports Turismo or Cayenne. Which would you recommend?
@@ammo8581 Two totally different cars Imho.
I'm thinking to buy cayenne with this exactly engine
Actually quite an engaging review, well done. We hated the flat 4 turbo so much we own two of them a 718B and a 718BS but the Base sounds better even without switched sport exhaust because it is pre 2019 and has no GPF

Great video - fantasticly detailed review of the car. Thank you for sharing
@@TheThrottleCable Cheers
Put it in sport and put your foot down that is well fast enough for British roads

every now and again i think about buying a panamera then i rewatch your video and it successfully puts me off
I think I just had a particularly bad one. That said, a neighbour has a Macan GTS, now two years old and last month he returned to the car to find the passenger footwell full of water. Dealer perplexed on the cause.
It’s a good car but still diesel is more reliable and efficient
Great review still in 2024
Hi Mark, thanks for making that comprehensive Panamera video! Curious how the M340i xDrive compares because weirdly enough I am cross-shopping these two models, along with the 330e because of how they're all priced nowadays.
Hi, the Panamera is ultimately ahead dynamically and over long distance although the G20 still has a pretty good front end and is quite more adjustable down a good road. Pure performance BMW wins all day long, 60 flat in 4 secs takes care of that. Not sure the modern BMWs are as well built as the older ones, one or two things mine needs to go into the shop for. At some point I WILL do a review, just never seem to have the time these days. Thanks.
nice Breitling
Great video Mark, very informative and to the point, quality info as I was looking into an e-hybrid.
Cheers
Good video but why wouldn’t you plug it in to get better economy and save on fuel costs
Bought the car because the overall spec suited what I wanted at the time. The fact it was a hybrid wasn’t a decisive factor so once I’d gotten over the novelty, and when arriving home and it’s raining, I really couldn’t be bothered…
I find the driving position uncomfortable one leg sits slightly higher no good for posture
panamera what happened to it
Sold at the end of 2020
Not a bad review but tarring the whole car with a crap specced 320d manual is a bit unfair
Great review!!!
I have been driving a 2017 Msport edition of these 320d model for the past 6 years and I am a bit confused that you complain about lack of power. The car is a great mix of power and economy though you can't expect it to be as fast as a 6 cylinder 330e. Thanks for review anyway.
F30 hybrid was a four pot I thought? And bear in mind the fat rear tyres on mine meant 190hp was insufficient to move the car around in the dry, which is the point I made in the vid I think. Cheers.
Great review, Mark Looking at the same car in grey ! I'm wondering if to buy or not ?? To upgrade from my 2010 Mondeo 2.0 140ps even though it is going very well !
Very professional review fella, been look for a 2nd hand car even before the lockdowns but I'm very hard to please, had a few Audi's in my years but never owned or even driven a BMW, tell a lie ''i Think'' i drove an old boss of mines maybe back in the late 80's but my memory is slipping with age. A place near me has a nice looking 32d Luxury and have thot about giving it a view in person, I don't see any mention in the add about service history so if that was missing it would be a no deal. The Market just now still appears to be a touch WILD with exaggerated prices for high mileage cars, I do have a look on ebay but that place is a real minefield / wild west. Enjoyed you're review so many thanks.
How much is a downpayment for one of these ? I really want one but I’m only working part time right now and I’m about to start full time with 40 hours a week is that enough to get one of these ?
I can't really answer this, for a whole load of reasons. What do you earn, where do you live, what APR are you facing etc. Thanks for watching anyway
@@markscars1069 do you think I'll be able to get one if I work 40 hrs a week full time with $15/hr as a dishwasher and I live in Maryland and my APR I'm not sure but each check I make around $850-900
@@markscars1069 also to get a beamer or any bmw how much credit do I need ? I'm planning on getting one by January with my tax return money and my job savings but I'm not even sure how much I need to save up for a down payment I think my credit right now is 500
@@weega9852 I’m a very minor UA-camr. I’m not a financial advisor 😂
@@markscars1069 Oh good to know that. And How much did you put as a downpayment and how much are you paying monthly for this one
I own a 2013 estate version of this car with a full M-package also 184hp. This is my 1st serious toy and i have to say i am more then satisfied then i expected. Jumping from a 2008 ford transit into this it really didn't take me that long to figure what every single button does. It's reasonably economic, it has enough punch when you need it and it's extremely comfortable. I think i couldn't have made a better decision getting this vehicle.
you should get it mapped. it costs about 500 dollars and it will give you 245hp
@@do365nic Dollars? just speak about Pound, dude!
@@do365nic, I would not have it mapped if you want the car to last as long as possible. I’d say this diesel power plant is stressed enough as is. It’s already dishing out respectable power. Long story short, it just not worth to have your engine konk out for 65 extra horses.
I’m about to buy one 181bhp 2012 msport 320d is this a good buy and reliable and fun to drive
Bravo
Hello m8
What a great review! Thank you!
Im in the market for a pre owned Panamera....should I get the Hybrid or the regular ICE?
Did you watch the entire vid? 😂 ICE all the way, 970 generation at least.
Hey Mark! Nice to hear your voice, it’s been ages. Shame the DB9 plan didn’t workout 😀
You always did enjoy a little Welsh lilt :) Hope all is well with you dude, cheers.
fingers crossed my 2019 turbos se hyrbid has been excellent i think they've invested the last 5 years well. i also think the faults you're finding in a 8 year old car are not that terrible. imho porsche need to improve software in cabin and on app.
That car was three years old when I bought it. The hybrid system packed up 2 months later. So yes, it was pretty terrible. I sold it end of 2020. Oh and it rusted at six years old. Only ever serviced or attended to by OPCs. But Porsche said anti corrosion warranty didn’t apply as it was a door which was affected and bolt on parts were not covered. Good luck.
@@markscars1069 I am hoping i dont need too much luck, its got a full warranty from a main dealer and now 18k miles. I'll be out of it in 18 months. But sadly would opt for the upgrade pan with 700 hp and the 50% bigger battery. Love to hear what else you'd suggest?
@@mygoogle1482 Sounds like you’ve got it covered. Warranty is way to go with these things, I was just miffed when the rust started.
@@markscars1069 yes that’s really rubbish definitely not what I’d expect either - from a not old car or the wriggling out of warranty for something like rust? Had two mercs and this Porsche in last four years years had problems but all covered by warranties with mercs no probs yet with Porsche. Full dealer warranty makes me feel as safe as possible with things of this value. But always a bit of a risk I guess -
@@mygoogle1482 Just to clarify, the main mechanical warranty was fine and they never quibbled anything on that (even though the car cost them a fortune in the three years I had it). It was the separate body anti-corrosion warranty I was referring to. It basically only seemed to apply to the car's chassis or frame, not the doors, bonnet, boot, wings, roof or sills. All so-called bolt on parts were not covered. That's what they told me. It was all very unfortunate. I will never have another.
@Marks cars, do these have automatic folding wingmirrors if so how to make them go in ????
If it’s fitted or coded press and hold the lock on the remote. There should also be a button on the door panel ahead of the window lifters.
@@markscars1069 doesn't have button and doesn't work off key suppose doesn't have need to be coded ?
@@zxpug7740 Probably no physical hardware installed to make it work then i.e. nothing in the mirror housings.
You have a massive cranium
So, I'm a dealer and just purchased a '14 as a trade in from a Mercedes dealer. Being quite unfamiliar with the Panamera hybrid, I've watched about 12 videos on the vehicle to familiarize myself. Your video ranks number 1. I appreciate the concise, informative points you've made and the genuine opinion of the overall features. Very well done. Thanks!
Many thanks Douglas, that’s very kind. It was a lovely car to drive just the reliability (and later, the rust, which wasn’t mentioned in the video) which gave cause for concern. Good luck with the sale.
Wow thank you. Great review answered a lot of questions
Your video was most helpful. Regrettably had already bought a 2015 Panamera hybrid already. And the one advise that I giving it a thought was the Porsche certified warranty. I took the car to porsche for maintenance and they had to re-program the high voltage battery and were not able to get it working again. The warranty on the hi voltage warranty expired 4 months ago ( porsche only gives 96 months warranty on the hybrid warranty which is at least 1 year less than Tesla or Audi) Long story short the hybrid battey has to be changed. Porsche will charge over €11.000 for the new battery on a car that is 87.000 kms So my advise do not buy a used hybrid unless it comes with porsche approved warranty else get a Tesla
Sorry to hear of your woes but yes it does seem these cars on occasion can generate some quite horrendous bills, totally at odds with Porsche’s robust and reliable reputation. I will never have another one, although in my case that’s more to do with Porsche’s dismissive approach to my comments rather than the fact my car had problems. Should also note that I am in contact with the chap who bought my car and he reports that a year later all is still well. Not sure he’s doing the same mileage I did but still… Again though, I didn’t mind so much the fact the car was unreliable, it was Porsche saying FO which annoyed me. It’s not in the vid I think as it happened later but that one also started to rust at six years old. Porsche said not covered under the anti corrosion warranty as it was a bolt on part (a rear door). It was stuff like that which put me right off. Will do a vid on my M340i replacement at some point…
But are they generally reliable?.. looking to pick uo a 320d sport next week at 74k miles diesel.
Yes, generally
Wow. Now this is how to review a car. Mate, please you are what we need, besides Matt Watson.
Beautiful cars but what a fast way to lose money? Not only they depreciate like a lead balloon but so unreliable you must have a warranty. Much better more reliable alternatives for same spec performance and much lower price
That’s a horribly lazy review
are the headlights good on the 970 Mark? LED's on the later 971 are fantastic, but the 970?
Do be fair I do recall the lights being pretty good. Yes, not as paint-lifting as LEDs (never mind lasers) but still pretty good. PDLS plus is the one to have if you can.
Good honest review, I like the T but my inkling is the S - but you have to drive it to know fully what it's all about! Thanks.
Great review I’m thinking of purchasing the 320D luxury 2012 now a lot cheaper. Any thoughts?
Thanks. Check the steering rack was done. Check for rodent damage to the wiring loom. Check for timing chain tensioner replacement, iffy on N47 IIRC
Nice car! Is it for sale? Thanks.
Sold it years ago.
@@markscars1069 thanks for letting me know
What a moany litter tosser, is there no joy in your life!
What a shith car review, go back to your ford, you have no knowledge of anything you just talking nonsense
Enjoyed your review Mark. I have a 2015 model year 328i, petrol and I believe you would have enjoyed that car far more. It has 240 hp and is brisk off the line and does not feel underpowered. I am a fan of the ZF automatic with the 328, it is brilliant piece of engineering. I have been told that BMW improved the sound insulation for a quieter road ride, but I have not driven the 2012, so I do not know for certain. Look forward to more of your reviews. Cheers!
This guys is a bit of a plonker, a dead serious non petrolhead
Agreed, A mug, cheap clothes lol
It’s not fair really to say that..what is off putting is that he starts his review with..just about.. I’m driving an d reviewing this but I wouldn’t buy one, it’s a depressing start and just gets worse.
Wow a lot of problems for a low mileage car and that’s before getting to the main problem.
cool car; cool watch
The review is good but idk why the reviewer is forgetting its cars like these that let the company make cars that literally wow you by the very same brand just like Ferrari makes cars only to fund their F1 team
You’re somewhat out of touch. Ferrari build cars to fund the market and feed the shareholders. The days of them selling cars to fund racing ended when Fiat took over. And BMW built its reputation on sports saloons. And a 320d isn’t this. You’re using the argument which applies to Porsche building Cayennes then funding 911s but it doesn’t work here.
Can you put on another exhaust system to make it sound like a flat 6???
Not in my view, no.
