Old-School L.A. Restaurants Part 1- Location Nerd
DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a food critic or food vlogger. I chose these restaurants for their classic aesthetics and their ability to take you back in time. Some of them do have GREAT food as well! Enjoy!

LN5: Mariposa Ave., Los Angeles. These charming apartments were built in 1925. I always stop to enjoy them when I'm out on a walk (I'm a "Bonafide Looky-Loo" and a "Wonderful Wonderer"). I wanted to share them with you! Hope you enjoy! Please follow me on Instagram: locationnerd Music provided under Creative Commons license: "Sandella Rag" performed byŒNANTHIC creativecommons.org...

I stumbled across these beautiful bungalows on a recent walk! Built in 1938 they are a great example of housing from that time period. Vacant and forgotten about. Enjoy! Check out The Apple Pan in West Los Angeles too. It's been open since 1947. Yum!!!
Want to step into New Mexico circa 1940 - 40 miles from LA. ?Try the 301 cafe in Placentia--.leather booths, old school wooden beer coolers and the best frijoles on the planet. Their large combination is lees than 15 bucks and includes a world class chili rellano.
Dinah's recently had chicken wings for 99 cents each. They were GIANT. Ten bucks worth fed 2 adults reallyw ell.AMAZING chicken.
more like el tepe-yuck
Best hard shell taco. taquitos like no other. gooey cheesy enchiladas. Restaurants don't stay in business for 70 years serving yuck.
Chili John's opens at noon and closes at 1😄 seems like they're always gone fishing.
my parents live 5 mins from there. that place seems to be closed a lot.
2nd Dinah's location formally in Westchester now in Culver City.
no food shown...
I grew up with all of these selections but I knew you where a real one when you put ElTepyac
Very interesting. I have subscribed!
I was a Los Angeles Police Officer for 34 years, I have had many meals at all of these locations.
Do you have a favorite? Or what’s a favorite dish from each one?
Did the Pantry close? No one ever covers it.
The Silver Saddle motel was used in the 1975 film "Wildcat Women" 3-D. it's mentioned in the opening credits.
I wonder if they could fix them up and make them inhabitable or livable
I might move back out there and wonder what the rent would be ? I’m an actress so of course need another job if I do and I would be willing to be the apt manager I love my pets and it would be so pet friendly compared to so many of the apt complexes there
So charming. Would love to see inside one.
Looks like the place Texacala Jones lived in the 80s 😆, used to have corn growing in the front
This video is making me homesick! And hungry for a sandwich at Philippe’s
Dlnahs’s on Sepulveda Blvd near LAX is still going strong .
This is cool, but it might have been even better with a tour inside an empty unit, except there probably weren't any available. I've always been fascinated by Bungalow Courts ever since I watched "Swing Shift" with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, where Goldie's character, Kay, lived in one. Too cute! They were real in the movie, but some time after the movie, they were torn down!😣
Great video! The Dinah's in Weschester is still open.
Saw you on Adam the Woos video. So...here I am. I did sub as well!!
Funny they are vacant given one of 'em has a private property sign up in a window.
Very cool. I wonder what the rent is on these units. It would be nice to buy the building and make it into 1 home.
Love your content! Retro, Vintage everything is appreciated. Take us back Thank you!
It's pronounced Tiki TIE not Tiki Tee
Whatever that street is the address was 4707 back then. 😃
Langers! You bet! This is THE best pastrami in California, no doubt. Philippes! Great choice - try the lamb dip? SO good. Nice job on the video buddy.
Nice! I lived in a courtyard apartment building, larger than this one, for awhile back in the olden days (the '80s). It was in Hollywood, near Gower & Carlton Way, in walking distance of Sunset Gower Studios. It's probably a strip mall now, but it was pretty nice in the day. Wish I could remember exactly where.
Great job! I’m new to Tiki Bars and plan to visit a bunch before I die.
the shot across the street looks likes it's from a show also...Maybe Chico and the Man??
We’re this used as vacation getaway homes?
Great vid!!!
Nice video and I like the music choice
Fantastic upload , great stuff !
Looking forward to seeing more videos. You deserve more views! Do you know about PromoSM!?? I think it would really help you grow your channel.
What a neat video. Even though I've lived here my whole life, I haven't really taken advantage of the historical eating places.
Thank you! More to come
LONO has been offering to-go mason jars of pre-mixed drinks and food since last year through their Umbrella hospitality group website /location on Melrose. Tues- Sunday
Lovely video. Great commentary. Very pleasant viewing. Thank you! Signed: your newest subscriber.
Thank you!
Wow ! What a bodacious "blast from the past" ! I spent a night there once with my best friend back in the 1970s when we made an overnight trip to Tinseltown. We picked it because it was reasonably priced & close to the freeway. It had a double bed and a Murphy Bed that folded up into the wall. Thanks for the cool video ! Nice music too ! Had NO idea the place dated all the way back to the 40s ! It would appear the years have not been kind to the Silver Saddle. But at least they're still around ! CHEERS ! :-)
I'm jealous! Thanks for sharing!
@@locationnerd2111 You're welcome ! My best friend Bill & I often joke about our one night at the "luxurious" (NOT !) "Silver Saddle" ! And the more I think about it the more I'm sure they had a black & white TV. But maybe I just think it was black & white because we watched an episode of "I Love Lucy" on it....ha ha ! Funny how a person remembers little things like that after more than 40 years ! Thanx again for your super groovy video ! Live....Laugh.....Love....and Be Happy !! :-)
