Earlier this year, members of the San Gorgonio Wilderness Association cleaned out and rebuilt the flume that diverts water into Jenks Lake. Their efforts are now paying off in helping to fight this fire.

At least there is water there this year.

Once we complete the online training, how do we let you know,

I got to experience the camp as a young Boy Scout in 1976. I was in troop 60 in the Long Beach Area Council . It was for the Bicentennial Camp-O-Ree , that was the year that the Boy Scouts had brought in the Wilderness Survival merit badge. I had earn my Wilderness survival, orienteering, cooking, canoeing, merit badges, and also earned my first aid, camping, and cooking skill awards. I never really knew as a young scout where the camp was located and one day I was driving up in the mountains outside of Big Bear on Highway 38 and ran across the entrance to the camp and couldn’t believe it was that close to where I lived. At the time I was in the Marines and stationed at the Combat Center at 29 Palms . I spent a lot of time 4 wheeling in the Big Bear area. Seeing the old camp took me back to a simpler time in life , and brought back a flood of memories. We also use to hike to Will J Reed park and camp there also. Thanks to the Boy Scouts for all the great memories and life lessons Jeff Welsh

This was ever so much fun when we got there later in the day. Lots and lots of bags....
