Can anybody identify that large white cargo plane with virtually no identifying marks (except a number on the side) and no side windows? Looks like some CIA aircraft.

My favourite go to airshow when I was growing up. Would visit the air fete every year with my father and two of my brothers. Seeing this brought back many happy memories.

That Comet is one beautiful looking aircraft. It sounds great as well. Is it just me, or does anyone else see more than a passing resemblance to a Spitfire in the fuselage shape when viewed in profile?

To think the TF33s were an improvement over the J57s… They always needed more runway!

9-40/MM6778 crashed a year later at Leeuwarden air base, i was one of very view people standing next to the runway. We knew they were coming from Florennes to make a fuel stop. Weather was very bad and the pilot made an error, i can still see it happening like it was yesterday, very strange feeling. The pilot survived but was badly injured, never flew jets again.

I remember those coming in here at Mildenhall with TF33 engines, and also with the old J57 screamers in the 70s, used to rattle the windows when they took off.
