I feel like the depiction of female friendships was unfair in the episode......I think both male and female relationships can be low quality/low maintenance.I don't think it is a gender thing I think it is upon the individual to nurture their relationships.....I mean men's friendships are mostly surface level as opposed to the women friendships that are more intimate and engaging
