Boston Whaler 320 Vantage
Owners review of the helm and helm storage compartments on the 320 BW Vantage.
4 inch vessel view display with 6 windows. Biggest complaint is the lack of a live MPG calculator. It has a travel MPG on the trip window but it is not live in the moment as it takes an average.
Storage for the boat is fine for us, if you like storing a lot of gear out of the way on the boat you may want to NOT consider the AC system in the cabin/head.

Can you do a video on how the bathroom works? What valves need to be open / closed.
How do you use your live well, I turn it on and it just drains water
There is a valve in the 2nd drawer from the floor (directly below the live well) that turns off the live well access. I just use that as a cooler with ICE when I have a lot of people
Looking to buy a 320 Vantage and would really like to talk with you about your experience with the boat. Can se chat VERY soon?
@scott Morgan, apologies for the delay, yes, shoot me an email granthorvath727@gmail.com
Hello, I have a question, I’ve searched the web for the answer and have been unable to find it. What is the width in inches of the dive door? The unobstructed width meaning, if the dive door when open partially blocks the entrance if you were pushing an object on. Thank you 🙏
If buying a 320 (new or used) from MarineMax, pleases have your dealership call MM Clearwater for insight on the DC powered Air Conditioning system. This was installed by MM Clearwater service team.
Grant - Thank you for sharing your experience on the 320 Vantage. First of all, you should feel good about yourself that you got a great price on yours. The demand this boat (and other quality ones) is certainly strong - and most people with low hours (less than 200) are getting mid to high $300K's now and they are sold in a matter of days. That being the case of price compression between used and new, we ordered a new one from MarineMax this weekend at the Miami Boat Show. Delivery date: approx November 2022. We are trying to determine if we want/need AC. The generator on a new Vantage 320 is quite pricey ($20K). You mentioned that you don't have a generator, but have AC. Does the mean your boat is equipped with an Inverter? When you run the AC, how long can you run it? Do you run it just while underway? Or do you run it while "at the sand bar"? Have you ever anchored overnight and run the AC without shore power? Does it last overnight, and does it drain the house battery to zero? Have you ever had any issues with your starting battery with the way your system is set up?
Great questions Troy, apologies for the delay. AC will run on DC power, have not used overnight. We use the AC running and at the sand bar, have only needed to start engines once after 3-4 hours of use without engines running. Have not tested that further to see if the charge could go longer. AC runs off house batteries Engine batteries only for engines (no issues yet) Only reason you need the generator in my opinion is for the Grill option.
SeaDek must have…Why? Comfort, style? You don’t explain other than it stains
Hi Robert, guessing you might not have had SeaDek yet? It’s truly a cushion absorber on your feet. Feels like you’re walking on air to some extent, grippy/safe, overall makes the walking of the vessel so comfortable.
14 months after purchasing the boat and coming up on almost 3 years old, starting to run into adhesive issues with this SeaDek. Unsure how to reapply the pieces back down. Areas where high water amount exists (Dive Door, rear platforms) have completely fallen apart.
Hi Grant.. great video…I have a 2016 320 vantage ad well.. I live in south st Pete in Bayway isles…I would love to pick your brain on ownership and maybe we could get together…not sure how to do private comms though???
Hi John, let’s connect indeed! Shoot me an email granthorvath727@gmail.com
Great information Grant. Can you share any comments on the ride? I understand that because of the foaming the ride feels solid compared to other boats.
Hi Terry, ride is great, boat weighs between 13k-14k with fuel, solid ride. No hull slapping or anything to that nature. The weight makes it feel heavy and solid in the water, yet light and nimble, sporty reactions to sharp turns. Very happy as an owner with the ride even with 8-10 people loaded up on the port side of the boat due to the seating layout
Thanks Grant. We are thinking about the 320 Vantage as our next boat. We really like the boat but one concern is the amount of storage space on the boat. We like to raft up at the sandbars and tend to bring rafts and beach chairs. Have you had issues with storage
Hi @Joe Dougher this is a great question. We have a 6 x 16 ft floating mat that rides in the stern at the rear bench seat (folded up). Beach chairs sit in the cabin and if we didn’t have the AC system, In the cabin is a 6ft wide by 10 ft deep and 2 ft high empty space that can store tons of things. Never once looked at my wife and said we need more space! Hope this helps
Hey Grant - great video - have a 320 on order - would love additional content on helm and storage compartments, etc
Hi Ken, congrats on your 320 order, you will love the boat. I will work on getting that video done shortly.
Also just ordered the 320 Vantage and after watching your video, I inquired about adding the AC option, as I opted not to get the generator. Dealer surprisingly advised against it telling me it would take its toll on the inverter system over the years. I still would like to add it, might have to override their recommendation. Only thing that is giving me pause is, wouldn’t the dealer want me to add as many options as possible? Why dissuade me? I’m so confused.
That’s interesting, is it a MarineMax dealer you ordered through? If so, have them reach out to MarineMax Clearwater who installed the AC option on this boat. @Smazz0808
@@BBVCorvettec62005 it wasn't a marine max dealer.
@@Smazz0808 That is clearly a puzzling situation to be in. I recommend you start an email thread with the dealer service/install team leader as well as Boston Whaler directly. Contact Boston Whaler via cxsupport@whaler.com or start by calling them and bringing them up to speed. If I was in your shoes, I would want to see both sides of the table discussing this issue at hand because as the owner and person paying for it, I want to see the fact's for what they are and not with any bias.
I added the air conditioner and inverter, thanks for this video
I, too, was advised not to add AC. Mine coming in March so time to make changes, I would think.
Hey Grant, thanks for the video. Just ordered a 320 Vantage and appreciate your insight. How do you like the 4 inch vessel view? Do you wish you had the 7 inch, and do you usually display the engine data on your 16 inch Raymarine? I did the twin 12 inch Raymarines that only comes with the 4 inch vessel view, I figured one 12 inch would be dedicated for the engine data and the other 12 inch as a fishfinder. Just curious of your thoughts, and just if you really enjoy the boat overall in general. Also, are those the seat covers that came from Boston Whaler, or are they custom? Thank you!
Great questions @max mager . The 4 inch works well for me, I will do a video on that next. I use window #3 of 6 for engine rpm, fuel flow, and, MPH, engine trim. Unfortunately the only window that has MPG is all raw data #6 and not a big fan of it. I only display my chart plotter on the screen or do a combo of radar/chart plotter. Depth is on it so no need for engine data or anything else other than depth, for my liking. The seat covers came from Boston whaler including the bow cover. --- What color and options did you select?
Love hearing this things in my home town
Still chokes me up now 6 years later
this thing is alive
Bless you for capturing this. ;p This was such an exciting, uplifting, full of amazing energy moment.
Corvette kik ass'
I was there too bro!! What a night!! We'll get it together and make the playoffs. Just gotta start jiving with the new guy and Stamkos back! Gudas, Malone and Crombeen need to get healthy!
The difference in tone between the brute power domestics and the high revving imports is fantastic! Wish I could've been there.
Those vettes sound rude.
Best sounding race car and the fastest on the track corvette racing is going too dominate once again. I know this is practice but look how easily the c7-R passes vipers Ferraris and Audi's they don't stand a chance.
...then a Viper gets the pole :P Just kidding, I love the Corvettes. And I love how seriously Chevrolet take their racing program, in NASCAR, GT, V8SC with Holden, they really go in hard.
The Ferrari killer has evolved
Oh my...
Great Video and Awesome SOUND !!! thx
what a lovely sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Easily the sexiest sounding beast out there!
Super excited! Can't wait for them to drop the wrap and show those Vettes true colors scheme!
Does anyone have some of the lap times of the P2 cars from the 3 days of the roar?
goliac492 I do know that the P2 cars were 1-2 seconds slower than the DP's throughout the test. DP's ran high 1:38-1:39 and P2 were high 1:39 at best and mostly in the 1:40's
Thanks, I love it
Only a race with Corvettes is a good race! ;-)
I love it.. I love it.
Yeah well. F1 is switching to a turbocharged V6 themselves, for 2014.
Aye dude nice vids I.live in sebring
Let the record show the Rays still lost this game.
B.C. SUCKS! B.U. with David Quinn will tear you apart again next season. hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
@MegaEvilsnake I know, I had an issue getting the camera to focus and stay clear. Didn't get to a good brake zone besides T7.
Awesome video ! But I'm sad you didn't recorded some glowing brakes in the night :)
I was in Sebring @indyfan1104 I did not see your message though. My apologies. Were you? The race was one of the best I have ever seen!
Hey man! U changed ur name!! Threw me off! R u in Sebring now?
This not even a kissing cousin to the Clearwater I know on the Hudson River. Wonderful show.
Oh yeah...haven't missed 1 in 4 years, even know towards the race every single year I say I can't do this anymore! I'll be down at 6am on Thursday setting up my tent. If you're there we'll have to meet up and run around and take amazing video!!!!
How cool is that! I am glad your in the video. I might be coming to the race last minute. How bout yourself?
I love showing up in random youtube videos! I'm the guy in the vest on the other side of the car! Are you going to be at the Rolex 24 this year?
Pretty sure its either 12,500 or 12,00 rpm they are limited to, i also think they are 2.2L
Here in Florida it is so beautiful. I love it here. Great video
The boats that race in NY are much bigger and faster. One day I would like to watch them in NYC.
