    Hey I have a question . This etf is new but I’m wondering how will it perform if the market goes down . I know that you will get more divided since it’s a covered call but will it go to zero overtime ?

    • @sunshineinvesting
      @sunshineinvesting 5 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment. I don’t think these ETFs will go to zero barring some major disaster. These ETFs receive money from debt obligations as equity linked notes. Their holdings are separate and not like a conventional covered call ETF. If the market goes down, this ETF will likely go down as well as there is still risk tied to the companies it holds. The equity linked notes income will make up slightly for it, but in a major downtown, I would expect this ETF to suffer too - maybe not as much though.

    A key component to building a combo is the ratio between the components. What ratio are you thinking? Sounds like you are doing 2 parts VIG to 1 parts SCHD. I'm at the stage of life where I need more yield, so if I were to allocate to some VIG it would definitely be the smaller part. Any idea why when ViG is 17 years old, it only has 10 years of dividend growth? I wonder if this fund had an index change. Vanguard does that to their funds every now and then...

      Yes, I did this video assuming a 50/50 allocation. Regarding the dividend history, that is a good question. Looking at the NASDAQ dividend history, it doesn’t appear to have not grown after ten years. It does appear that there was a dividend decrease during the years 08-09 (of course). Seeking Alpha may be providing a tracking error.

    Good info; however, i prefer VYM over VIG for my personal-strategy.

      VYM isn’t bad, offers higher yield with still decent dividend growth.

    On your YOC calculation, are you taking into account the dividends received, and the additional shares they would have purchased over that 15 year period? That's what I love about holding on to a stock for long periods of time. The other item is if there were any stock splits during that period of time. I recently looked at what would have happened if I would have held on to the first stock I ever purchased (FAST). If I had purchased 100 shares in 1987, I would have 19,200 shares FROM JUST THE ORIGINAL 100 SHARES (8 splits in total. 1 - 3:2 and 7 - 2:1 splits)! That does not include shares purchased with dividends over that period of time. BTW, with the latest quarterly dividend paid on July 26, 2024 of $0.39 would have meant that the original shares would have been $7,488.00! As a fool however, I sold my FAST shares after they had gone up 15% thinking I could get another stock at a lower price that would also gain 15% - rinse and repeat. Needless to say, I look back now with GREAT regret that I didn't keep that first stock.

      No, the calculation does not include dividend reinvestment - that however, is another added benefit.

      Thanks for the comment and question. This shouldn’t be taken as specific advice as it would depend on your situation. However, the top 3, in my opinion, would be VT, VTI, and VOO.

      In no order: 1) VOO 2) QQQM 3) SCHG/VUG 4) VTI 5) SCHD/DGRO. Personally I put down 1.2m$ on few ETFs, still diversifying. it was this time last year I made my first break through with a liquid 370k. Handed it to a trader here in FL, I get weekly pay out which I put back on long term ETF's. Tesla will be a huge buy for me when the market bottoms.

    Since you moved from m1 to E*trade and have all four in one portfolio what’s your percentage allocation for each? Or do you still have the same allocation as if you were still at M1

      Appreciate the question. As of right now, I have not been buying SCHD or JEPI - I will resume when my emergency fund reaches $20k. As for the current weightings, VIG is at 40.8% portfolio value, and SCHD is at 19.3%. Unfortunately, E-trade doesn’t allow for dynamic asset allocation, so these weightings may change overtime. I expect to buy $100 each of SCHD and JEPI every month in the future.

    Invest in the financial markets before retiring by diversifying across assets, allocating a small portion of your portfolio, staying updated on market trends, and considering long-term holding to balance risk and growth

      People dont understand that the prices of things are never going back down. This inflation is deeper than we think. Those buying groceries are well aware that the real inflation is much over 10%. The increments dont match our income, yet certain investors still earn over $365,000 in stocks and assets. Wish I could accomplish that.
