I've been on hormones for a year as of December 11th :D Very different video than usual but I've been really interested in making one of these for months. I would've uploaded this yesterday on my actual anniversary but I wanted to include concert night pics and we got home really late so I just finished this today.
I began my transition late last year. Halloween was the final straw in me realizing and accepting this part of me. I started looking into voice training less than 2 weeks after Halloween and I came out to my mom shortly after that. That was one of the most difficult things I've ever done in my life, even though I was confident in her answer. I was researching hrt and all kinds of trans stuff throughout November and eventually called a clinic to schedule an appointment to get on hrt. December 11, 2023 was when I was seen and I got my meds the same day. This was the point where it started to feel real, and this was when I came out publicly in online spaces.
My early transition was pretty silent because honestly I was a shut-in at the start of it and prior. I didn't know what the heck to do after high school and I did try a job once but hated being referred to by "sir" and "Mr." so I quit really quick. Voice training also wasn't going great in the start and I gave up in December, but sometime in February or March I started to notice my voice was changing a bit anyway because others were commenting on it. I started to focus on it again and use what I learned to actually develop my voice and I would say that ever since June my voice hasn't changed a whole lot. I'm really lucky I was able to speedrun this part of my transition because my voice was like top 2 dysphoric insecurities.
As summer began, I was finally being gendered correctly in public by strangers and started to feel a lot more confidence in myself. I started going to electrolysis sessions to remove my facial hair, went to 2 really fun concerts, got my name legally changed, updated several documents and cards including my ID, was really developing my style in clothing, sounded the way I wanted, everything was going great. This fall was probably even better. I finally landed a job (one that I really enjoy and where I can truly be myself), got my birth certificate changed, started ADHD medication and therapy, and in just about every single way possible I'm living my best life. I've never been happier and more confident and comfortable in my skin than I am now. Here's to many more years to come.

I chose these songs very carefully. Bubbly is a song from my childhood and it sounds calm and happy, but in a reminiscent way. Song For Our Parents is a dedication to the groups' parents and for me it's a dedication to my mom who's supported me throughout this whole journey. She's always been there for me and I will forever be grateful for all of it ❤️
