"Project Robot" reveal trailer live reaction (next game from Fumito Ueda)

*I had my earbuds in which is why you can't hear the trailer audio in this video. I already had a feeling from Geoff's intro that this would be the announcement I've been (happily) waiting for for over 5 years. Once I saw Epic Games' name with that font, I knew this would be it and immediately started recording. This is my real reaction. Enjoy. P.S. The thing on the upper left for a lot of the ...

Me & Latenna's fight with THIS JERK in Elden Ring
I'm sorry... I still can't really believe this just happened. The one time that I use Google Chrome as a guest during a screenshare, and it apparently prevented me from getting any desktop notification that the stream had begun. My Discord is a whole other mess in itself, and I've fixed it now to hopefully make myself a lot easier to reach. And Google Chrome's guest feature is misleadingly annoying when it comes to logging into literally anything on your browser... That being said, it's time to dive into your next chapter stream and leave another massive comment to hopefully make up for my absence. Yes, I'm so glad you remembered the horror that was "Allah the Magician" lol Fortunately, Raiku seems to be more careful this time. "Allah" can be a name for God, but Moses was always just a teacher/mentor and was never godly himself... so that name's totally fair game it seems... and interestingly, takes us back to Egyptian roots again. Glad you caught the "Mo" thing! The word "mo" in Japanese can also mean "too" or "also"... so Moses seems to be finding irony in the fact that they "also" have the word "also" in their name. I'm about 80% sure this is the point of the joke, but I'll wait until I get a more concrete opinion before I add a translator's note for it. But I also like your idea about maybe using "Mo' " in an attempted localized version of the joke, I'll have to think on that. If we ever make a Viz Media names/terms version of the Zatch Bell 2 scanlation, I'd definitely go with that! Yeah, I was pretty surprised too that apparently Moses' sense of touch can be heightened SO MUCH that he can actually isolate and scope out the area for body temperatures like some kind of thermal imaging goggles.... I mean.... that's not a normal thing people do.... lol But body heat is something you feel... you can't really see, hear, smell, or taste heat. So the sense of touch is the only one that could apply. And yeah, I believe Moses had what looked like a bone saw or autopsy saw. But then he turned it into a fantasy weapon xD As for whether it's moving, I believe it just spun the blade a little after his initial flick and then it stayed still, it didn't seem like ongoing motion imo in any other panels. LMAO Turns a lever, that moves a gear, that moves a hand, that moves a hammer, to strike a bell.... Absolutely love it. And I also love the subtle callback to when we first found out about Momon in the series, where his appearance was described to us as having the ears of a rabbit and the face of a monkey. "He has many fabulous secret abilities"..... Okay, I need to write that sentence down xDDD And yeah, that map... Geez, so many apparent ancient demon spell elements... Especially Paramakiron, the guy with the satellite head. And yeah, now I'm also wondering if Raiku mapped out more of the demon world somewhere... I remember him having a map for Kiyomaro's house in the original, but it was sadly lost to time. Libra's design is definitely more than I was expecting. That strange eyeball thing with what looks like a yoke in the center really is unsettling, and the screech that it made on not one but TWO occasions in this same chapter was just utter hell to edit together.... I think the Card that used Umagon's spell was a woman actually. I can only guess that the bladed weapon might just be a natural part of her arm... and can say with certainty that the "Begiru" spells belong to Dalmos. Also, HURRAY! We finally got to see what Robnos/Erujo's shield would look like in canon! A shame that the Gou Shudoruku spell was just a speed and strength buff without any armor, but I guess that answers the question of what would've happened if Wiseman had used it after stealing it in the first movie. Also, glad you got that mic fixed pretty fast. Yeah, "Giraga Rabado" and "Giraga Mabarudo" are using completely unknown nomenclature. Unless MAYBE "Ma" and "Barudo" could be considered a combination, with "Ma" being for intense concentration and "Barudo" being for an attack that splits apart. And you're absolutely right, Guranbao is an Eshros spell! That scene with Momon focusing so hard on trying to bring joy to people is so pleasing to see. You could see it in his face when the bird, Chuba, excitedly told him that his map would make people so happy. He really took to it to heart that he's caused trouble for so many people and now he wants to do the opposite and fill their lives with joy. The GREATEST redemption and turn around for a perverted trope character in the history of manga? Perhaps! I've never heard of this Fire Force controversy, but I've never really given that series much attention either. And oh wow, yeah, Moses really does resemble Jyu. The thing about Moses and Libra is that they seem quite compatible with each other in terms of their motifs... Moses is a mad scientist... Libra is a plant-like abomination that Moses seems to let run rampant... So immediately my mind goes to the idea that Libra's an experiment of Moses', but to what end... I have no idea. Moses might be going rogue, or he might just be treating his comrades as pawns to further his own power... If Beliel is apparently all-seeing, then surely he knows what's going on here. It definitely poses a lot of questions... I think it's actually a pretty realistic possibility that Tio and Megumi, who would still be in the demon world, might come to Momon's rescue. Just some food for thought, since those two are VERY well-known for the "big damn heroes" trope lol I think the fact that we see the bulge of the sketchpad on Momon's back might actually mean his shirt will get torn and it will fall out, into enemy hands. If that happens, all Moses and Libra would have to do is destroy it, but it's just speculation. I like your voice for Moses and I definitely like your voice for 20-year-old Momon! And yes, good ol' Towakizu ending its service, following all the Zatch Bell traditions of being something for the fans that's taken away thanks to some untimely bullcrap. And yeah, the way that Towakizu was releasing their characters, they were totally keeping track of Zatch Bell 2 and keeping the theme. Koral Q releasing before even any of the four supreme mamodo? Momon releasing before Arth, or maybe Rein, Karudio, and Zaruchim? Characters were released in a way that benefited Towakizu's marketing, and nothing did that better than Zatch Bell 2. And oh yeah, heck no, I can't imagine focusing on more than one gacha game at a time... That would just be pain. But if you want to try any Towakizu again, now's the time while we still can! Remember, I have a full English guide for mamodo, their skills, and the cards and what they do. I also have a guide for which cards to equip to which mamodo. I think that Raiku's tweet to Towakizu actually did have something to do with it shutting down, but it would speak more to Toei's ineptitude than anything. I bet it was just Raiku asking Towakizu's devs on what grounds they were still hosting the game if Toei hasn't agreed to renew the license to the IP... so then Towakizu went to Toei and asked how the renewal process was going, and Toei would've callously told them that the rights to Zatch Bell have expired and won't be renewed, so the mobile game was not their problem anymore. This led to Neowiz needing to make the abrupt announcement, and even throwing shade at Toei for their "delayed decision," making it sound like they were blindsided by the news that Toei wasn't gonna renew that license. It all fits together imo, but I mean... we can only guess. And yes, we should ALL be hiding from Libra LOL That thing looks like it dwells in everyone's nightmares, and the moment I saw it and Moses, they both gave me Enmu vibes from Demon Slayer.
I didn't think that the Towakizu character release order might have been determined by ZB2...But I think they still probably had a very limited number of characters to work with, because wasn't Koral Q in the game's beta (before he showed up in ZB2), and he only came out in the latter half of this year? If Moses created Libra, I wonder if Libra could possibly have some mamodo parts in him and that's why he's able to integrate spell elements without dying like the other cards to. I've always assumed that if Kiyo and Zatch were to use their lightning magic in the same way (and we may already have seen a version of that with the Thunder Dragon Egg's power), Zatch would not suffer any ill effects from it since it's his own element. Maybe the mamodo could learn to use others' spell elements too, if they have access to it. "Fabulous secret abilities" is something that entered my lexicon from the famous He-man meme music video, where in the original version (not the most popular upload version which removes the intro) he says (and the video is actually titled) "Fabulous Secret Powers".
@@Momon143 I mean, Koral Q was released later after Koral Q's debut in ZB2, that's definitely true. But his raid battle was introduced right around the time of his debut instead, before the character was made playable. I also couldn't help but notice that they put Kido on the banner around the time Dr. Riddles had gained a lot of relevance in ZB2, and Kido was already playable at the start of the game. Now this happens with Momon, so it just feels like it's more than a coincidence to me. The idea that demon biologics could prevent the absorbed spells from tearing their body apart is a cool one, I think it has a lot of merit to it! I just can't tell though if the Thunder Dragon mark is the same principle, but Raiku definitely worded the incantation that way to make it resemble the ones the sorcerers use, so there has to be a reason for that. Oh, I didn't know about the He-Man meme xD That was a nice touch then lol "Fabulous secret abilities" needs to be in everybody's lexicon.
so did anything happen with this?
That's an amazing reaction lmao I'm very excited for whatever is to come, Ueda is cooking something incredible and I'm here for it day one!
👏👏
There is SO MUCH to discuss from this chapter alone! We finally got to meet Elder Mirage! I remember you saying about 10 chapters ago that you couldn't wait to explore the lore of these ancestral beings in the demon world, and looks like we got a taste of that when we least expected it! Notice that Megumi actually has a new outfit to replace her tattered dress that she wore all throughout the reunion with Tio and the exposition dump from Ashuron. Not sure where the outfit came from, but it looks like it might be some spare clothes from Tio? Elder Mirage is definitely a king-sized dragon, and seems to be taking inspiration from the more Eastern types of dragons in mythology than Baou ever did. The comment Gash made about a dragon's perch at the top of the rainbow was so outlandish that it made my translating partner and I check over the dialogue several times over to make sure we weren't misinterpreting some kind of expression, and sure enough... this dragon is indeed from some higher plane, apparently pertaining to the peak of a rainbow. I do suspect that Elder Mirage might be maybe one step down from the rank of a deity. If anything, he might actually know something about the identity of the god referred to in the Trial of God back in the first series. When the dragon as old as time itself points its index finger at you, that's when you KNOW you're something special. lol And yes, big dose of lore here... Dauwan received an egg from the fabled Thunder Dragon and it caused Baou to be born. Dauwan must have apparently told Gash all about this at one point for him to know these kinds of details... because it seems like the only thing Gash was surprised to hear was that it wasn't a guaranteed spell. Whatever the Thunder Dragon is, I'm not sure if it has a corporeal form like you mentioned... it seems very ethereal. Best of all, it looks like the tables have turned and Gash has finally experienced his own version of the ancient, arcane sorcery or magic that Beliel's forces like to invoke as a secret weapon. The Japanese word used for "scent" here was 匂い. It does sound a bit animalistic, but since we're talking about dragons, I think it works just fine lol Could also be seen as an energy signature (like an aura). I agree that the Thunder Dragon is portrayed as this mighty, mysterious force that is very particular about who it lends its power to. And I agree, the being that observed Gash and Kiyomaro was most likely the Thunder Dragon itself, granting them its blessing after seeing that they had righteous hearts. I never noticed that the hotel was called "Northtin" and I got that right away as soon as I saw it! The "Northtin" hotel is almost definitely a pun on the actual popular "Westin" hotel. I've actually been there before, great place! And the best part is, Gash doesn't just have a lot of food... He has a lot of AMERICAN food. lol It's our time to shine in the Konjiki no Gash breakfast palette! Definitely appreciated the confirmation that Gash and Kiyomaro were being influenced somehow by an outside force during the debut of Wibiraru Zakeru, but I agree that it's a little strange that Kiyomaro claimed he was acting of his own volition... definitely didn't seem that way on the panel, but I guess it was more like the Thunder Dragon guided him and emphasized his feelings of fiery determination... Interesting point about Levy and her beasts, but I think Kanchome was specifically referring to how he didn't want to make them do something they were vehemently opposed to... such as finish off their dear master. I think that was a 2-bedroom suite, but just offered extra pillows on the side if they wanted them? A smartphone charging on top of the spell book must make the book a little warm lol And now we've finally got an update on Sunbeam... Umagon MUST be on the horizon, and I don't know if we're ready to see how Raiku handles a full-grown Umagon who would likely be capable of speaking in full sentences. Thank goodness we got some more info on Ellie after this whole "Fern" debate... Makes me wonder if Raiku was totally consciously aware of how similar they are in appearance... what's even stranger is that she's missing and even a detective/P.I. hasn't been able to find her as of yet... If Kiyomaro didn't seem to know Fern from when she was at a young age, I would say this actually helps SUPPORT the theory that Ellie assumed a different identity... But that clearly isn't the case since Kiyomaro knew a "young" Fern. And Apollo is such a mood lol I swear, you could smack that guy in the face and then apologize and he'd STILL somehow be chill about it. Nothing is an inconvenience to Apollo Genesis... gotta love that guy. And you raise an awesome point that this is more or less giving Apollo a second chance to see the sights, and for a good cause, instead of languishing at his job as a C.E.O. The connection you made with T.M. Lee and Apollo's career path was spot-on, I never even considered that in this chapter. I have never been to Vegas, is it really that awesome? Got any recommendations for entertainment there? I may go someday, but Nevada is admittedly a little out of the way for me. As for gambling, you can just leave it to me. I've gambled my life away at Gash Bell gacha, I can handle a couple slot machines lol The return of T.M. Lee is so random that I think it gave me more whiplash than anything else in Zatch Bell 2 so far, and that's saying a lot lol I love how the one time Gash fails to follow Kiyomaro to school, it was when T.M. Lee introduced himself to the class and changed the tone of the classroom for the rest of Kiyomaro's days at junior high. Saba the Hutt is quite the stage name, but the R.F.C chicken being a pointed reference to K.F.C. with Star Wars... I swear, Makoto Raiku's manga is just a glorious game of "spot the reference" and I am here for it. But it was definitely a little funny to see Raiku kind of reshape Kiyomaro's personality for this chapter to go along with what seems like an indulgent decision to have him sing along with his former teacher. Because it isn't a Zatch Bell 2 chapter without a musical every few chapters! xD I swear, if I had a nickel for every time I had to partially song-write for this series (excluding Folgore's songs and Bleu's directly translated little intro)... I'd have about 25 cents. Which is insane... And yes, the two author's notes were in the original manga right there in the exact same margins. Great job on the T.M. Lee song, it was really helpful having an actual beat to follow along to. The only thing was when Kiyomaro started rocking out with that "Oh, I recall one time" verse, seems like that was supposed to be the solo part of the song... at least by my understanding of it. Everything else was totally spot-on! I don't know if there was a teleprompter, but the idea of Kiyomaro remembering the song word-for-word after all these years definitely seems a little hard to believe. lol But now that all the merriment is over, we're back to Elios with none other than grown-up Momon! Echolocation feels very on brand for him, I feel like I should've seen it coming... But that crazy pen is every artist's dream, I swear... Automatically relaying the blueprints of the area on paper like that? Same with the enemies in Momon's line of sight, too. Momon's come such a long way to be so willing to perform that last, extremely dangerous and stress-inducing step to get his eyes on the enemies as well. Oddly enough, that monstrous horror that sucked up the spell vial energy bears a resemblance to Leeza's ferocious flowers that protrude from her body... and this "Libra" (who I'm assuming is the name of the humanoid) almost looks similar to one of the Zebreet siblings. Dissent among the ranks it seems, since this person in charge of that plant-like beast definitely has no qualms about killing off his ally to presumably absorb his power? And I can say with utmost certainy that having an actual tune to base this chapter's song off of made it a lot EASIER, because I had a general idea of how many syllables I could fit into each translated lyric. But that one about the squad car was almost impossible to cram in lol And if Kiyomaro isn't the gambling type, I'll bet that's more Gide/Jido's speed xD I still find it baffling that we literally saw Kid's spells being used by Gunther, and then Kid was mentioned ad nauseum during the ordeal with Bleu and Bobby... yet Kid never got to make his return with those spells yet. It just seems like such an odd story-telling choice by Raiku... and I'm dying to know if it gets brought up again. Because they'd have to detach the spell vials from Gunther's gargantuan henchmen to be able to use them... Oh, and it was also cool to get the confirmed age of Momon after all these years. Turns out he was always Patty's age, one year older than Gash and most of the others. Definitely looking forward to translating the Halloween event in Towakizu, but it's gonna take some time. Man, they usually average about 7 or 8 "episodes" per event, and this one has 10! And yeah, super bizarre to see Raiku actually acknowledge the Towakizu Twitter account... without any explanation lol And wow, very strange... Your audio only cut out JUST as I posted in the chat. Thankfully, you were able to cover the entire chapter without a hitch! Oh, funny... I didn't even pick up on the fact that Zililon was eating and smoking at the same time xD Sorry I only caught the tail end of this stream, but hopefully this in-depth feedback will help make up for it! I'll definitely be there for the next one, I'll set an alarm and everything. Keep up the great work, and let's keep our fingers crossed that Umagon shows himself sooner rather than later!
suddenly this is recommended to me, man how i wish for a reboot and them adapting til the end

You're right. With this game you're so focused on not dying, you always forget how cool things look.
Nice work! You should try two handing your weapon tho. It does a lot more damage that way.

I feel as though something big is coming, simply from the fact that there has been so many new gatcha figure lines as well as other merch, along with a whole new mobile game that’s coming out in 2024. I’ve noticed that mobile games tend to be a really good indication to a tie in anime, since they’ll use some of the screenshots of the series within the gameplay, like with the Shaman King remake getting a game along with Adventures of Dai following a similar path. Not to mention the 2nd series getting released in print and selling really well would push for a remake anime too.
I reeeeeeeally hope for a Zatch Bell anime reboot someday. Nothing will ever replace the OG anime in my heart, but seeing the Godufa half of the Faudo arc get an anime adaption would be so cool
Can't wait lost my Zatch Bell collection during the pandemic with my pokemon collection 😭
I really loved this chapter but I definitely get what you mean with the transportation to the Mamodo World being a little iffy or even sloppy. I’ve always been bugged by a lack of info in any story that I read but with Zatch Bell I’ve managed to forgive it because I assume most things are simply tied to the the heart in some way. Heart Power is the magic system after all. So when it’s up for interpretation I normally attribute things happening because it was willed by the Mamodo and the human partner. Like Won Rei’s final goodbye to Lee Yen. It was clearly magical and outside of our understanding and never got a proper explanation but it makes more sense once you remember that all things tied to the books are related to the feelings of Mamodo and their partners. As long as it isn’t anything too off the wall or too beneficial to the good guys then I’m all for Raiku experimenting with that idea.
Man it seems like you’re the only one reviewing Zatch Bell. Keep up the good work brother we need more of this ❤.
Thanks so much! Chapter 13 stream coming soon!
I do think that Zatch Bell (Gash Bell originally I guess) would do well to be redone, maybe even do the full story rather than the shortened one in the original anime. I do think that it could seriously benefit from this more than a lot of early 2000's anime. But we'll see, would be great
They announced a Zatch Bell manga remake, hopefully the manga adapts into an anime. I truly believe Zatch Bell was a victim of timing, if it came out today it would be incredibly popular.
It's already out! The first volume is available and you can read the first few chapters already with a new one coming next week!
@@Fredioli is this new manga consistent with the old one? DO they change up the story A lot? also where do i read it?
@@2FINE4YOUBABYGIRL it's not a remake, it's a sequel.
@@vitinho298 it’s a sequel from after Zatch wins and becomes king? So we are getting new characters and a new mamodo battle royale?
Golden Gash 2 anime when?
I badly want it to come back.
I can't believe there are people talking about Konjiki no Gash (Edit* Ohh 20th anniversary could explain why, **oops 22nd anni, nvm lol) (I see 2 vids in the sidebar too, made only 3 months ago), I don't know how people think of this anime since it's quite old. It's my favourite manga for sure. I also found out just last week there's a sequel! A complete anime would be super cool, it deserves it :D
Didn't mr.raiku tease a new anime in 2022 or was it a rumor?
If we do get a remake, I hope they keep the songs in it.. especially from the great Palco Folgore lol
It's so cool to see this video still getting views! I do monthly Zatch Bell 2 discussion streams on my channel, go to the "live" tab if you want to watch them! They're a little scuffed, but I think there's great discussion there!
Don't do that. Don't give me hope.
It would be nice if Zatch Bell got a reboot what with the manga currently having a sequel running.
They should add Mariah Carey again ( the woman that goes boing )
Man i'm seeing so much zatch bell lately, i'm here for it
Got to see the beginning part of the stream that I missed, and first of all, thank you so much for your kind words about the localization of "Kanchome Time," that means a lot because my translating partner and I spent so much unexpected time on that during New Chapter Day.... xD As for the beat of the song, I do think it's more of a song than a rap and I have a general idea of how it would sound in my head. You got the melancholic part PERFECTLY, and yes the point behind the listed foods rhyming was to keep the song as chaotic as possible until it finally reaches a crescendo with Kanchome freaking out about cream puffs, pudding, and caramels LOL I'll try to record myself singing the song in the Discord server at some point, but I don't know when that'll be. So look forward to that lol
Oh. OH. I would LOVE for this to be true. It was SUCH a travesty that we didn't get the full Manga animated. We were SO close. And even then the US didn't get all the anime that there was, nor did we get like the last 5 volumes of the Manga translated for us. I LOVE Konjiki no Gash Bell though. I would seriously love to see it get its final arc animated at the very least.
Bro with all the battle royale stuff in the media lately a reboot of Zatch Bell from a good animation studio would blow the fuck up!
Hopefully we get a remake and if we do that it is well adapted. I was looking forward to the Shaman King remake but then I heard about its pacing issues (cramming 300 chapters into 52 episodes). Hopefully Zatch Bell would get about 104 episodes so that it can have a little more than 3 ch/ep average (coincidentally, that is the number of episodes of the original anime that were dubbed)
I still remember watching Zatch Bell when I was little, such a great anime. A remake or continuation would be so epic
I think it'll be a continuation to be honest since these sheet foreshadow it.
Yoooo!!! Awesome Zatch/Gash Bell find! Looks awesome! I hope they give Zatch Bell the Brotherhood treatment one day, following the true ending and cleaning up the anime and having it track the story in a more streamlined way
Was really amazed how had not anyone talk about this, thus is hype asf!!what do you think about beliel?it linda remind me of zophise or someone related to her,and also lets not forget that clear note was looking to kill all demons
Wicked.
I need the zatch bell to come back man, I've been waiting for a come back
What is this even an ad for?
Old Navy. I wrote a bit about it in the description. Also, we have similar names. Mine is Logan Ryan.
i am scared that these were just sheets for a never produced anime, this would be sad
That's my thinking about it too. But even if this production was canceled, that doesn't mean another one won't happen eventually, and it's still a great time for the ZB franchise.
@@Momon143 let's hope, seeing Clear Note in anime format it's weird
Don't play with me. Is this real?
The art is real but some people still have doubts as to whether it's legitimate. But if it's not legit, it'd be fanart that someone made just to sell one time and get money, which is more unbelievable to me than it being real. But the existence of the art doesn't mean that a new anime is coming. It might mean that but we really don't know.
@@Momon143 but thanks for sharing this. I remember my hopes and motivation
GREAT stuff, man! Love your choice of background too, I actually recognize it from Golden Memories. The color scheme for Clear Note is definitely one of the biggest jaw droppers.... And you summed it up quite well when you said it's illogical for any fan-artist to go to such great lengths to make this art and then only sell ONE copy of it online... This surely HAD to be for a production of some kind, but the question is... was it something that was terminated around the time it was auctioned off? Or is it something that might actually still be realized in the future? For now, all we can do is hope... and marvel at the exquisite artwork for what it is. :)
Enjoyed the video!! 💯
Solid video Uman!
I don't know what this was but I FELT that PASSION xD That was great!
It's from Better Call Saul, one of my favorite shows. Look it up on youtube if you want to watch the original.
Great discussion. This was a nice breakdown of the trailer's big reveals, and I agree with a lot of the points you guys had. With Peach specifically, I fully agree with your opinion on how they should've handled her. In my outline of a Mario movie series, I would SLOWLY shape her into a more badass princess than have her as one from the jump. See, there's so much games and media where Peach is a capable and more forward princess, so none of that isn't even new. However, I think what specifically makes Peach who she is, is she's a princess who isn't a complete stereotype... but she also still has dainty and more feminine traits. I like that the movie is straying from the overdone Mario norm of storytelling... but I feel like I wouldn't have minded if they stuck to it for this first movie, and then build into new Mario story territory.
Kanchome's new look threw me for a loop LOL
I'm really sorry I couldn't be there for this one, man. Something came up and it was basically an emergency. But I'm here now and I'll leave all my thoughts down below: 3:30 OH, good luck! I hope the interview went well! And I agree, I like this setup a lot more, quite frankly. It's as you said, there was some stuff in the background that wasn't messy, but it was somewhat distracting. Here, it's you and only you, and you're a great distance from the camera too. It feels very personable, and I prefer it this way imo! 4:40 Man, I can't even believe how much time and work you're putting into compiling this stuff... I'm dying to know the results! lol I sadly really don't have much to say about all that Ultraman stuff, so I'm gonna jump right to 12:00! 12:11 YOU SAID IT.... This chapter was EVERYTHING, really setting up the plot and the destination in the way a lot of us were expecting when Zatch Bell 2 got first announced! Raiku found his groove and really went in HARD 13:04 Yes, it definitely looks like this new boss isn't keen on sharing the power he obtains. That greed will probably be what makes some of his underlings attempt treason at one point or another... 14:18 Yeah, it was very insightful to see Gash open the floodgates to all of his emotions like that. He was really holding all of that in so much because he had to put on a brave face for Zelie, Olmo, and Mippy... that moment when he just let it all out when he was given a second to breathe really hits hard. I think we can all relate to that on some level. 14:45 Yes, that's a great point. Raiku did this a couple of times during the chapter, and I honestly think it was an artistic technique to really set in just how much Gash is going through. It's beyond anything he's ever endured before... We see something similar in the Zatch Bell 1 when he has to decide whether Li-en or the world will be saved from Faudo... his eyes are covered when he goes through a lot of inner turmoil. 16:01 Yeah, this was crazy to see... It genuinely makes me wonder if the specific symbols on the books really don't actually matter because the spell hasn't been "written" yet... so when the spell IS written, it'll be on the next blank page, no matter what that page's symbols are. The page's symbols don't change, but they're interpreted into the book and human mind as the new spell in question. 16:09 Wiseman in the first movie: "Now that I am the sole owner of the legendary white spell book, nothing will stop me from taking the mamodo throne." Kiyo in ZB2 (proceeds to make dozens of books just like it) LMAO 16:37 ROFL Yeah, that must be it. Death Note = Spell Book confirmed? xD Raiku did only say that there are many pages in the book, but he never said that they were never-ending xD
- The interview went well and I've been working at the job for 3 weeks now! Just was too lazy to put the desk back the way it was before :P Interesting that you prefer it this way. Maybe I'll put some posters back up and keep it turned that way. - I'm planning to spend a lot of tomorrow finishing in the survey, I hope I can do it. - Of course you remember when Zatch's eyes were covered in ZB 1. I wonder if we'll see him fully cry at some point in ZB 2 with his face shown. Wonder what kind of scene that would be. - I didn't think of Wiseman when Kiyo said the books were white. He must be fuming! I'm not sure exactly what you're saying when you talk about spell book symbols, that stuff is complex.
I'm really sorry I couldn't be there for this one, man. Something came up and it was basically an emergency. But I'm here now and I'll leave all my thoughts down below: 1:50 You think that someone who is well versed in most, if not all, of Makoto Raiku's works has ideas about his latest series that are WORTH something? Now that's just nonsense! xD 2:55 Yeah, it was surprising to see all the books just take off like that... that's a pretty big indication that they ARE in fact alive again, and Kiyomaro is basically responsible for bringing them all back to life LOL The books were literally like "Get the heck out of dodge, we've got a job to do!" 3:03 Nice, you are officially the FIRST UA-camr to call her Zahra now that we've finally made that change. I'm so glad Raiku showed us her name in Arabic, because we really needed that one cleared up. 3:23 Apollo GENESIS!!! Double the shock value because they showed his last name for the first time in canon! It makes it pretty apparent now that Raiku really does stick to what he says on his blog... I'm super excited to see him again and to see how much he hasn't changed xD 3:40 That's cool! I never would've got that lol And yeah, I think the mummies are just gonna be taken and held in... I don't know, maybe a cargo hold or something of Apollo's plane. 4:25 This was such a jarring discovery.... This body perfectly resembles Gash, so I feel like Raiku will have to explain this away with either magic.... or time travel. 4:41 That is a SOLID point, wow.... I never put 2 and 2 together and realized that Gash referring to his brooch might have some connection with Raiku giving it so much detail in his new drawing for the exhibit! 5:10 Yeah, I'm pretty sure that had to be his dad. It was also cool to see the King's scepter, which is apparently different from the King's wand that we saw in Gaiden. 5:20 Yes, in the same way that he mysteriously received letters one day, I'm pretty confident that the spell books gave him that too. It's so funny to think about, you're the king of the world and then you never know when you're gonna wake up one day to find random presents; literal gifts from the gods. 6:14 YOU HAD YELLOWTAIL FOR THE OCCASION???? How was it??? Would you render an entire ecosystem extinct to have some??? xD 6:28 Yeah, I glanced and saw the number "19" on the Japanese raw page, and I thought to myself "That is a very specific number... do not tell me that's Gash's age right now..." LOL But yes, Kiyomaro thought Gash would be 14 based on his APPEARANCE.... sadly, it sure seems like Kiyomaro never bothered to learn Gash's actual age in the series. 6:45 Wish I could've been here, and I'm pretty mad that I had to deal with something that I shouldn't have had to, but it is what it is. We live and we learn, and all I can do is make the most of it here and now. 7:33 Yeah, that was brutal of Raiku lol Makes it that much harder to pinpoint any ages. The funny thing is, I think he did this on purpose to make for an ideal time skip. Most of the mamodo were kids and the partners were generally in their late teens, or adults. If Kiyomaro says Gash should be 14, then let's combine this with the fact that Hige looks no different... FOLGORE looks no different... and Kiyomaro, who was a teen at the time still going through puberty, appears to be in his 20's now based on how physically fit he is, and Zahra did say he was young for a professor. This all makes me believe that it's very likely that only 6 years passed by in the human world... Gash would have gone from 8 to 14 if he aged in human years, and most people on Earth wouldn't have changed all that much... because if we had mamodo growing up at the same rate as their partners, then the mamodo would grow to an ideal age range and the partners would become a little TOO old to realistically be able to stay in the fight. Gash being 19 is an ideal age for him because he's basically all grown up... while Kiyomaro being 23 is an ideal age for him because he's not a teen anymore but he's also not getting on in years and is still in a condition to battle. That's my take on it at least. 8:58 That's such a funny sibling rivalry bit for Raiku to play with... xD But it was great to learn that Zeon just dove headfirst right into the danger; I think we ALL knew he wasn't going to surrender without one hell of a fight. But he also might be doing covert operations instead... we'll have to wait and see! 9:17 YES, thank goodness.... I really didn't think they'd actually be all right so soon. I thought there'd be a big mission or something in which they'd revive all those demons that Gash used his inherited spell on, but I guess Raiku wanted to give us peace of mind sooner rather than later. 9:33 This is definitely a risk Raiku appears to be taking now that he's able to make all the executive decisions... It's important for a series to feel like it's not predictable in terms of plot armor, and that's a problem that a lot of Shonen series' have. With the spell book elimination system, you could at least feel the pain of departure even if the mamodo didn't actually undergo a traditional character death. But now... well, how is Raiku going to keep things believable whenever it seems like there's no way out for our untouchable heroes? 12:23 Right, I think the point is that they're just paying their respects, however Raiku wants to go about it. 12:28 Gash winking at Mippy was just so.... WHAT?? LOL WHAT DOES THIS DOG KNOW THAT WE DON'T??? LOL This is not just some joke xD If it was a single panel, then maybe, but it was a glance and then a wink. That MEANS something. ROFL People are taking this to outlandish places, but I think the bottom line is that Mippy is involved in Gash's overall plan more than he let on. In some capacity.
13:25 This segue was FANTASTIC... I was waiting for something like this to happen and it did not disappoint! 13:53 Baou in a tank was a real surprise, because I was almost positive that the beast in the sky that stole away all the spells WAS some kind of corrupted Baou... But nope, the Baou we know and love is right there! The latest attraction at the zoo LOL 14:48 Based on his name alone, I'm pretty sure that this guy is Raiku's intended final boss, at least for now. I'm not sure how he can up the ante past this one, as Beliel (pronounced Bee-LEEL) is quite literally an incarnation of the devil. 15:24 A Gravirei, or perhaps a Radisu??? For all we know, Beliel could be the father of Seven Note, who spawned Clear Note. There's almost definitely some kind of connection here based on their equally celestial motifs, but time will tell! 15:56 Yes, it seems our Big Bad is in the business of reanimating his underlings to ensure their loyalty and his own absolute control over them. Not unlike how Zofis revived the ancient mamodo actually. But Raiku seems to be handling this concept with a lot more carefully woven mystery, as he's now more experienced as a mangaka. 16:19 Beliel referred to Waig as a "thing", which leads me to believe that he used to be a man-made golem, as you said. But it's hard to say if animating something that wasn't alive in the first place can be seen as reviving something that was once dead... and then there's the matter of Waig's human form... Where did that come from I wonder... 17:21 I've seen people make comparisons to Beliel's eye resembling that of Zofis, but I don't think there's a connection. It's just how Raiku draws demonic, villainous eyes imo. But it does resemble Waig's core more than anything else. It's basically Zofis' eye with 4 points protruding from the inner iris. Waig's core looked similar, but it was just the four points if anything. It was easy to mistake it for a screw. 17:39 I remember seeing the raw pages for that double page spread and thinking "Ah yes, I love Zatch Bell.... I mean hyper-realistic concept art backdrops... wait, this IS supposed to be here, right?" It looks admittedly VERY out of place.... but still cool as hell, and visually stunning. 18:42 Yeah, I recently saw a reddit post comparing the LotR place with the spread, and there's no doubt that was the source of some inspiration. 19:41 That's hard to tell, because recall that the mamodo world's design had an enormous random, glowing orb in the center of its main tower for seemingly no reason. This might just be how Raiku designs his magical locations, but I could be wrong. 20:04 Oh, I would bet money that this was the work of one of Raiku's assistants. We even learned from volume 1's credit page that his assistants mainly handle the set pieces and I think whoever made the ravaged mamodo world panel probably made this as well... or it was perhaps a guest artist. 20:46 This was a great scene that I think is another telltale Raiku writing decision... Toei Animation could never write this themselves lol 21:01 It DOES feel that way LMAO This freaking scene was so short and SO great.... LOL Hige, so confident that now that the battle ended years ago, there is NO WAY that Kiyomaro must have his spell book anymore, and seems to be, like... taking a victory lap and trying to pour salt in the wound, and he has no idea that Kiyomaro, by some hilarious miracle, DOES have the book back at this point in time. I love it so much xDDD 21:34 Hige being Egyptian makes an annoying amount of sense.... lol He absolutely looks like he could pass as one and I'm upset with myself for having never noticed that xD 22:00 Yeah, that was a classic Raiku move too... xD In a similar style as the Hige moment that just happened. A character comedically being wrong about something they're so sure about, when the reader knows better and how wrong those characters really are. That book on Zahra's desk was not Gash's... it has fewer textured lines than the red book does, so that book is a different color entirely. And I agree, Zahra would make an excellent book owner! It seems like Raiku learned from the fan reception of Suzume and decided to bring in a character with a similar role in the overall plot, and then upgrade her to a human partner... something he never did for Suzume that a lot of fans would have enjoyed. 23:54 Yeah, this chapter was chockfull of answers and references LOL It was like a treat for the fans, even more so than the other chapters were so far! 24:26 I can totally picture Debi Derryberry's dub Zatch voice saying that matter-of-factly, "He was the first one to run away!" and then Kiyo's reaction LMAO Made even funnier by ZATCH'S OWN nervous reaction LOL That was just all too perfect.... 24:45 Kanchome likely ran away right after he got his spells stolen. I can picture a flashback where he's ready to charge into battle, saying "Put 'em up! Put 'em up!" like the cowardly lion from Wizard of Oz. When all of a sudden, his spells are sucked into the stratosphere, and then he just peaces out LOL 26:00 Ooh, that's interesting. I hadn't picked up on that. I can totally see what you mean though! 26:44 I honestly thought it started feeling real when we saw Kiyomaro appear, but maybe that's just me lol It just gets more and more real with each new chapter it seems! 28:23 Folgore's hair has a life of its own at this point, and I will stand by that belief xD And yeah, imagine my surprise when I realized I was about to have to try and scanlate ChiChi wo Moge..... LMAO There's no real right way to do it... I almost went with putting "Breasts, Boobs, and Knockeeers! Boing Boing!" but decided to say Screw it, everybody knows this song's beat by how it sounds in Japanese, so let's just leave it in Japanese. And I think that was the right call. 28:59 I honestly have no idea who she's referring to... she could have said "demon" OR "demons", it's not specified in her choice of words. We see the plane overhead as it cuts to Italy, so I think Gash, Kiyomaro, and co. were on that plane... and that this new villainous duo might just know that this is where Zelie, Olmo, and Mippy are now. But it could also mean Kanchome is nearby, we don't have enough information to tell yet. Halfway finished, I'm gonna have to continue tomorrow but I'm looking forward to it! :D
- The bodies might just be magical mannequins that take the form of whatever mamodo gets brought into the sarcophagus. I have a feeling we'll probably see this happen whenever we get more mamodo coming back that way. -Zatch's dad being small is also another example of something from Raiku's blog then being bought into the actual series - if you ignore it happening in the semi-canon Gash Cafe, of course. - I have no idea if we're going to see the books actually interact with the characters in this series, but it is interesting to consider everything that's happening given that we know they have agency now. Like them choosing Zahra. "Well, the king's partner seems to trust her so...." - The sushi that the Yellowtail was in was actually amazing, maybe the best I've ever had. There were a LOT of flavors in it and the yellowtail was just one of them. It came with this crazy lime sauce that combined with the spicy mayo on the sushi itself was really something special. I'm sure the yellowtail contributed to all that in some way :P - So are you saying that you think time moves at different speeds in the human and mamodo worlds? - Zeno Gear Solid would be pretty hilarious to see. - I am leaning towards Mippy actually being important, though something I didn't mention is that his appearances in this chapter might be little apologies from the team for forgetting him a couple months ago :P - Beliel being the final villain is yet another thing that makes predicting how long this series will be a very difficult thing to do. - I would love to see a Clear Note connection though I'm still not super confident there will be one. - It's somewhat disheartening to know that not everything we see is Raiku's own work, but he doesn't try to hide it. I hope he's at least writing 100% of the story and dialogue. - In regards to Zahra's book...well, like I said previously, if the books are picking new partners, and one is already a friend of Kiyo's....Then maybe Suzume...? - The cowardly lion is perhaps an apt thing to compare Kanchome to in that situation...The cowardly hippo? - I agree that not translating chichi wo moge was the correct thing to do. Unlike "unu", it's something every fan knows at this point.
29:33 I'd love it if Waig's species were homunculi, that'd be a pretty streamlined explanation for sure. Considering Beliel recently said Waig was more of a "thing" than a sentient being before his creation, it would make a lot of sense. 30:26 I'm not sure, I mean... Gash seems to know he has the body of a 14-year-old based on his slower aging, but is aware that he's had 19 birthdays. You know, considering Gash turned 9 at the end of Gash Cafe #16, I'm starting to think 10 years might have passed after all... Gash at 19 years old, that's a very specific choice for his age to be... 30:52 Yeah, Zahra's a fantastic addition because we got to see how she started out as a supporting character, and now we'll see how she became upgraded to a book owner! Love that idea for her. 31:42 I totally agree. And I'm dying to see what this monster form is and whether or not it can ALSO be tied to some sort of biblical angel like Waig and Gill... Two is a coincidence but THREE.... that's a pattern. 32:45 YEAH.... It totally could have ended after we saw Baou... And yep, it just keeps going, and going, and going LOL So many people on Makai thought that it ended with Folgore's ChiChi wo Moge song, and it was such a pleasant surprise to see that there were STILL 2 more pages! 34:16 I agree, something about this storytelling format... it seems to combine the villain of the week with the later elements of the series, where enemies are just too powerful to bring down too quickly. 34:36 He certainly does! I wonder if he has a checklist or something when he's writing them out... It's like he said "no battle this chapter, and we're done with introductions, so let's fill this chapter with everything else!" and the fans lost their minds lol 35:25 Oh, I think all the mamodo in the sarcophagi are specifically from the previous battle, because Sahil planned for this and knew that they would need human partners. Either that, or their human partners could possibly change... Zofis tried to force mamodo into the battle and the spell books had nothing to do with it, so they didn't help him out. What if it's just as Kiyomaro speculated before he died to Riou... maybe there are multiple human partners, not just the one? That would still make them hard to find, but they would exist, and the spell books can help out this time and just launch themselves to the destined partners since this is a crisis situation. Albert is a pretty convincing example of this... 36:08 Yes, YES, YES!!!!!!!! That parallel was the PERFECT way for Raiku to handle the sequel if he wanted to start it with Gash being "dead"! Talk about returning the favor! 36:25 Yep, the concept of never underestimating humans was prevalent in the original Zatch Bell 1 series as well. Sherry said it quite plainly when she threatened to ruin Brago's chances to become king and outright told him "Never underestimate humans and don't forget it!" 36:49 I really don't think Kiyomaro ever knew how old Gash really was during their time together. Because I can't stop thinking that if Gash was 8 at the end of the series, and then turned 9 during Gash Cafe #16, then that means him being specifically 19 now could be because Raiku wanted a 10-year time jump. And Gash turning his nose up and saying that demons age differently really felt like he was making excuses to justify why he looks younger than his peers... It's just so hard to tell. 38:23 I feel like it must have been him, OR, there are others with similar appearances, and Beliel has defining features that make it obvious that he's the one in charge... like how it is with the Squid Game villains for example. The bracelet worn by the figure that is placing the card on the wall is identical to the ones that Beliel is wearing... but at the same time, Beliel definitely looks bulkier than the character placing the card down, so it COULD just be a similarly dressed minion for all we know. 39:05 I think Beliel is essentially like Trigon from the Teen Titans series in the 2000's. Based off of a Satanic figure, even though they won't outright say it, but the viewers/readers all KNOW that it's supposed to be a devilish figure. That's the vibe I get from Beliel. He's not THE Belial... but Raiku wants us to know that he's the Zatch Bell equivalent of one. What sells it for me is his claim that Waig and Gill were once dead... and he treats Gill like he's nothing special, so that strongly implies that all of his demon hunters are cut from that same cloth, as do all of the many cards on the walls. It sounds like something a fallen angel would do in order to assert dominance and false reverance. 39:29 I think so too, which begs the question of HOW he'll ever be able to do that when Baou feeds on darkness and corrupts the user's soul if their intentions aren't pure... Honestly, the only way I can see this happening is if Raiku pulls a dark messiah with this guy and makes it so his intentions are righteous... and if he thinks he's purifying the world or something by ridding existence of demons if they're a perceived evil, then he can probably get away with giving him that narrative in the story. 39:48 I can't wait to see that happen. Gash creating his own friendly Baou xDDD 40:14 That was funny, yeah, but I thought it was nowhere near as funny as when Kiyomaro just randomly opened up the bottle of Gash's spells and poured it onto the pages with him having no indication whatsoever of how any of that worked..... ROFL 40:49 If I had to guess... Mippy probably is just a secret agent and he can probably talk, but has chosen not to until the time is right. But WHY??? Gash, stop leaving us in the dark xDDD 41:20 Yeah, it really does! It's so heartfelt and I'm glad so many fans were able to see this day! :D 41:41 Yes, Dauwan was normal-sized during Gash's coronation ceremony as well, because he was standing right alongside Queen Bell and Zeon. His design was identical to the man in that panel who had the scepter and was basically knighting Gash with it. 42:26 A concert being attacked? Gosh that takes me back LOL It's not Zatch Bell without an otherworldly enemy showing up to take care of unfinished business by threatening a kickass concert full of bystanders! 42:30 Imagine if Megumi tried to distract Maruss by singing! LMAO 43:00 Right, the only reason I can't picture Kanchome having all of his spells is because of how Gash and Kiyomaro reacted to knowing that they need to go find him. Gash was basically acting like they had to go rescue him... which wouldn't be the case if he still had his spells, since he's a reality warper. He might have Poruku, but that's it. 43:24 Well, the interesting thing here is that even if Kanchome DIDN'T have a mummy... all of the white books are blank slates, belonging to no one yet. Once a human partner picks up one of the books and they gain color, that's when they're assigned to the mamodo in question. So I do think Folgore will find a book when he least expects it, and it will become the book he needs to get Poruk back. 45:50 I was fully prepared for it to just be Gill and a million Waigs, just like Nomu from MHA... so I was REALLY pleasantly surprised when we learned that Raiku's STILL got character designs to spare even after making SO MANY after ALL THIS TIME.... It'll really help the series stay on its feet! Although we'll still have to see if the girl also transforms into a cyclops like Waig. 47:12 This could be Gash's chance to unlock that electric wings spell that he had in the cover art for the chapter where he battled Pamoon! 48:08 I don't know what you mean, dude, you picked the stride back up in no time for this video. I think by maybe 2 or 3 minutes in! If you're saying you could have done even better, than I look forward to seeing that for chapter 8! :D 48:54 Ah, yes! I have a video coming out about that in the near future, so I hope you'll tune in and enjoy! It's such a surreal experience, and even more so when you realize that every book in the series... in every situation... the proplica book is an exact replica of all of those, just colored red. 49:33 HYPED for this, you have no idea! LOL It's been a long time coming, not that that's a bad thing at all. lol But the suspense is crazy! WHAT does the overall fandom agree with the most??? This was a fun and VERY in-depth discussion, you covered everything and then some! And while I deeply regret being unable to make it during the stream itself, I'm just glad I'm able to share my thoughts here in the comments section! :D
