Behind closed doors | Update
This is just a little update as to why i haven't been posting as frequently this year. The reality is that my time is much more limited now. There's also some (hopefully) exciting news that i will reveal soon, which has meant that i cant spend so much time filming and editing.
So enjoy a little sneak at what i've been up to, and hopefully i'll be back to a slightly more frequent schedule soon.
Thanks for watching as always! Please like and subscbribe for more content.

Storage bench || Entry Bench Build
Переглядів 4193 роки тому
This was a storage bench, or entry bench, or shoe storage bench (whatever you want to call it) that i built for my sisters new house. There are lots of things i would do differently if i were to build one again, but that's the beauty of giving things a try. Its such a good way of learning! let me know what you think of the video style?! I switched it up a bit this time, and basically just did a...

Переглядів 1864 роки тому
Lets learn about finishes together! In this video, I'll show you which finishes I've used and my honest opinion about them. I'm not not a professional and I'm still trialing and learning about finishes myself. However, these are my current thoughts on finishes I've used so far. If you're just starting your DIY journey and are looking for some good tools to get you started, Check out my previous...

ULTIMATE DIY PATIO | How to lay your own slate patio
Переглядів 1,6 тис.4 роки тому
Add value to your home and save ££££ by doing it yourself! I know this wasn't exactly a shed project, but I used tools from my shed. That counts right?! Anyway, with some spare time on my hands, we decided to add a small patio at the back of our house. Then decided that if we were going to do that, then we may as well address our front garden, as it was looking pretty sorry for itself. I've hea...
How to make a Shooting board

How to make a Shooting board - When you don't have the money or the space for a Jointer, this could certainly be used as an alternative. If like me you are searching for a way to avoid spending money on a jointer, then please use this to get a bit of inspiration. Its pretty easy, and as can see in the video, sometimes you don't need anything fancy to get the job done. If you haven't seen my fir...

Good to see the progress, especially with such a small space. But please, LOSE the music. These vlogs are so much better with just talking ( and, in general, no need to record the noise of the tools - do we really want to listen to the racket a mitre saw etc makes ?). Your commentary is the most important thing.

I’ll be setting up a temporary workshop in here, but I’ve since discovered that it leaks from the roof and under the walls 🤦🏾 So keep your eyes peeled for a new workshop coming at some point 👀

Hi Sam , enjoyed your video. Came across it searching for small shed storage ideas. I also have limited space in an 8x10. I will be going through your videos with interest, hope to pick up some ideas. Also boarding my shed out and using French cleats. Although in a small shed do cleats trump just screwing things in place? Think I’m going to use a hybrid.

Hi Sam, good video. You can fade music in and out as you introduce the narration, that way it’s less abrupt. Brilliant first effort though. What size is this she’s? 6x8?

How's it going with your shed workshop Sam, is it all organised now (December 2021)? It would be great to see an update. Do you use it much during the winter? I'm in a similar position, trying to use a small shed (approx 8 x 5) as a workshop, but I'm struggling with the lack of space.

I’ll be totally honest with you, it’s in a bad way at the moment. With good reason though! I will hopefully be making an update video soon enough about why there haven’t been any updates for a while. *Hint* it may have something to do with a move 🤫 But yes, I do struggle with space! I think up until now, it’s been a bit of trial and error of how to make the space work best for me. So going forward I will hopefully take what I’ve learnt about my workflow and hopefully apply it in a slightly better set up. Hope that answers your question, and thanks for the support 👌🏾

Hi Sam! Your video cuts after 2:38 and I used the black screen time between then and some stuff at the end near 3:49 to imagine myself doing the same with my own video some day. I have never created a channel, so I can only imagine future follies. I understand jumping from project to project plus actual work coming back into play, so for now I just really wanted to give you a thumbs up and a comment to help you boost your viewers. I look forward to seeing your projects including french cleats as well as just in general how your shed looks once you get things put together. I have been drawing plans for my imaginary tiny shed and trying to preplan features and storage so that I can build in extra support as I start to do the framing, etc. I just found your channel today and you have a new fan. p.s. I do like the use of those doors in that spot!

That level would be too small to be any real use. You need a torpedo level and a 600mm level as a minimum to cover most situations as you can add a longer length of straight planed timber underneath for longer jobs.

DeWalt is the pro branding used since the late 80's/90's to replace Black and Decker Pro tools range as DeWalt is a sub brand of Stanley Black and Decker. There is a video on UA-cam which shows who owns what tool brands and it makes surprising viewing when you see rivals owned by the same conglomerate or venture capitalists.

Lidl and Aldi are a good source of affordable power tools and hand tools for DIY’ers. Also Screwfix. Looks like you’ve also got the Roughneck demolition bar in your shed, for taking pallets apart? I’ve got one as well (bought it from Screwfix) and I love that tool. It makes pallet dismantling a lot quicker and easier (depending on the type of pallet though).

    • @samsshed5153
      @samsshed5153 3 роки тому

Thanks for the comment. Yes, Lidl and Aldi both have some great deals on various tools often. I think i went with more recognisable brands because im an electrical engineer by trade, and i like the security of using brands i know 🤦🏽‍♂️ I should put a disclaimer though, that you can get plenty of other great cheap tools elsewhere! That is indeed a demo bar in the background. Its great isnt it!
