In Australia it's a similar process, most places i've seen dont bother about motorized shears though, hand pumped shears are pretty much the same weight and size so are more reliable and easier to move around. As far as the people standing around, we'd normally only have 2-3 guys doing this sort of job although with other work going on(more workers around) it will go one of 2 ways 1, it's summer/hot weather, no one will go near the welders if they don't have to, weather is already hot enough. 2, it's winter and EVERYONE is around the weld getting warm as well as waiting for the weld to finish so they can use the pot to warm up their pie's in aluminium foil. We also don't bang anything so much since it can cause pour outs and screw up various quality control standards for the client. The fear of pour out is enough though and it usually happens on the last weld of the day for some reason.

slight differences but pretty much the same as north america, mainly safety shit, like even if i wasnt required to wear steel toes, id still rock a pair a leather shoes. Other wise you end up like buddy at 2:08 missing half your toes. ( yep bet im the only one that noticed haha )
