John Delony Wants You to Chill Out: Tools for Living a Non-Anxious Life
Dr. John Delony (@johndelony) has one of the top 10 podcasts in the world right now, along with being a New York Times bestselling author, mental health and wellness expert. What is not as well known about this famous figure is that his father was a cop - a homicide detective in fact and John knows first hand how a career in law enforcement can impact an entire family - particularly how our jobs often create anxiety in our loved ones.
John has written extensively about anxiety and how to navigate our ever-increasingly anxious lives. His new book, Building a Non-Anxious Life is a fantastic read that I highly recommend to everyone listening or watching. In this book, he breaks down six choices we have to make in order to break free from anxiety. In the interview, we go through his six choices and how they relate to us as cops.
If you’re familiar with John, you know that he’s funny, sharp-witted and a fan of punk rock and he absolutely delivers in this interview with us. So here we are, with Dr. John Delony.

In 2021 I was out on medical leave due to a back injury that had been misdiagnosed for years. What saved me from a potential career-ending surgery was a renewed practice of yoga. Despite its long tradition in warrior communities, there are a lot of misconceptions and objections to yoga in the first responder communities that seem largely driven by the idea that it’s too feminine for such a male...

I'm going to be facilitating workshops for a local Sheriff's department on Team Awareness and Workplace Wellness. This podcast was extremely helpful for me as I approach these officers. Thank you for helping me to see their perspective and for giving me extra tips on how to help them manage the biological factors that are inevitable in their line of work. I will be adjusting and adapting my workshops based on this podcast and I'm truly grateful for the information and for the work both of you are doing to spread awareness. Bravo 👏

Guys like Tim Kennedy are really smart and i have alot of respect for him. When he mentioned the media attacking police officers across America to divide the country, i really wonder in Tim Kennedy's opinion who are the ones responsible for pushing these narratives in American media? Like who are the people behind the curtain pushing alot of these anti police narratives? I'm very curious myself

Ruben Palomares is NOT seeking forgiveness because on 13th July 2022 he filed a false report as a supposed witness along with Richard Albertini to threats and harassment from Johnny Depp and Paul Barresi to Aaron Mckinney. The police captain of Lancaster South Carolina squashed the allegations against JD & PB as baseless and without merit. Once a dirty Cop, now bearing false witness for a Hollywood gold digger.

Using the fact that he grew up in Boyle heights and south LA and that’s why he went bad is B/S. I grew up in the same area with just a father my mother passed away when I was only 10 years and did not go into a gang. I joined the LAPD. In 1989 n work Newton, Harbor, Hollenbeck and south west division. I work the CRASH unit in Hollenbeck around the same time that Palomares did and did NOT stole evidence or took gangsters to jail with out a legal reason. I think Palomares was just a criminal trying to hide in the LAPD. There are other officers in LAPD when grew up in the same areas that did not turn bad he was a criminal from birth and was just trying to hide in the LAPD. I m glad he got coughed he made our jobs much harder then it had to be.

Personally I don’t think he owes anyone an explanation for what he did. Even if his upbringing is the reason, he owned up to his mistakes, paid his debts to society, did his time and if he found peace and God, who are YOU to judge this man and his life?? Also, just because YOU had a different life experience than him doesn’t mean other people don’t process trauma and pain differently than you. This is his experience not yours. Nobody asked you about your life. Sorry don’t mean to sound rude but you’re being very judgmental.

95% of the instructors for civilians out there are like Rex kwon do..... absolutely useless and they will lead you into a big jackpot! when I was a teenager I would imagine guys cussing me out telling me everything in the book to piss me off, just mentally conditioning myself not to play into that shit. over the years I have literally frightened guys off by just staring at them stone faced while they are going off. I don’t ever want to be in the position that I have to explain to a cop why I’m carrying a gun, three mags, two knives and a flashlight all because I got into a shouting match with an asshole. all of these instructors are too busy trying to be Seal beret tactical instead of trying to explain something this simple and important.
