School districts do not go into financial trouble in a about 40 days after an election. Also, I bet that there are less children overall in that district so school districts have to adjust.

I live in one of the best school districts in mid Michigan. We live in an area that is“ ghetto ish “ by the local standards. They have allowed our neighborhood elementary to crumble from simple neglect. It’s been about 10 years . But let me tell you we have a high school on the “ other side of town “ that we call the Taj Mahal … rich as you can get folks . So now the kids from my area are bussed over there. My taxes have doubled in the last 10 years also but I still don’t have a neighborhood elementary. I also have to call the superintendent to remind them to mow and pick up the area on a regular basis because we are invisible.. unless they are cashing my taxes check. And we are a blue area politically. Just lots of rich folks on the school board and running the township so the money goes where they want it to go. Not to keeping my roads rut free … but theirs are smooth . it’s about money and power ! So it’s not just red areas.

so these schools get closed, which means that the kids will have to get driven/bused to other schools that will already be crammed with students..they won't move the teachers to these schools to cope with the numbers..no..!! they will get fired and the existing teachers will have to double their class size but not their budget..I'm not American, nor do I reside in your country, but even I can see that you have screwed yourself mightily..
