Hungarian food produce pastries #budapest2024
Combining influences
from parts of the East and the West as well as a rich culinary heritage, Hungarian cuisine offers a diverse array of dishes that reflect the country's history and diversity.
If you're on a Budapest vacation or traveling anywhere else in Hungary, be sure to try these 10 delicious Hungarian dishes.
. Goulash · 2. Lángos · 3. Somlói Galuska · 4. Chicken Paprikash · 5. Bukta · 6. Fisherman's Soup
Hortobágyi Palacsinta
Spend a few days in Hungary and you’ll realize that the country’s cuisine is not only delicious and satisfying, but very creative. Hortobágyi Palacsinta, or stuffed pancakes, is an excellent example of the ingenuity of Hungarian cuisine: meat (usually chicken or veal) is mixed together with onions, paprika, and other spices, and stuffed into a pancake. After being baked, they are then covered with a creamy paprika sauce and served hot.
Lángos
Hearty comfort food isn’t all that Hungarian is known for, as the country also has a plethora of unique street food items worthy of a chef’s kiss. First up on the list are Lángos, a deep-fried flatbread that is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They’re great on their own, but are typically paired with sour cream, garlic, and onion. Try this Hungarian street food for a quick and savory treat that satisfies cravings and leaves you wanting more!
Stuffed Peppers
Witness Hungary’s commitment to bold and flavorful cuisine by tasting Töltött Paprika (Stuffed Peppers). Töltött Paprika starts with fresh bell peppers that are filled with a mixture of ground meat, rice, onions, and various spices. The peppers are then simmered in a tomato-based sauce until tender. Using farm-to-fork, simple ingredients, this hearty meal will leave your tastebuds happy and your stomach full.
Chicken Paprikash
One of Hungary’s most beloved comfort foods is Chicken Paprikash, a dish that features tender chicken smothered in a rich, paprika-infused gravy. You’ll often see this dish served alongside egg noodles or dumplings. The real star of the dish is the flavorful sauce, which gets its signature taste and aroma from paprika (a spice that is very special to Hungarian cuisine).

Istanbul, largest city and principal seaport of Turkey. It was the capital of both the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire. The old walled city of Istanbul stands on a triangular peninsula between Europe and Asia. Sometimes as a bridge, sometimes as a barrier, Istanbul for more than 2,500 years has stood between conflicting surges of religion, culture, and imperial power. For most of those ...

Cancer took my best friend Zofia on Sat Nov 19th 2022 (pic from last years Christmas) Thank you everyone who mailed her cards it touched her heart and brought a smile to her face. I am still in shock. Exactly a week ago Martina asked me to come to our LD18 meeting where she was running for 1st vice chair.I only went to the meeting to support Martina. You are given 3 minutes to speak but because Martina is blind she was given 4 minutes and her 1st minute she used up to talk about Zofia .Martina had no idea that when she said that Zofia is right now "taking her last breaths" 3 hours later my best friend Zofia passed away Cancer killed her . What happened ?(sharing with you new facts I learned through her horrible journey) For the past year Zofia was losing weighed which she attributed to exercise and diet. In July she usually does a yearly physical with blood work .Her primary care told her everything was great except for anemia and to take over the counter iron pills. Looking back that was a huge mistake. If you are over 50 and anemic its most probably cancer because I learned later from her oncologist that cancer causes anemia. Over the year(looking back) she did have some symptoms like several night sweats, pain on both sides of her back that went away, loss of appetite and loss of energy. However it was not severe and no one imagined she had cancer for a full year inside her body. First week of August she started getting swelling in the stomach specifically belly button which looked like hernia.By then I was suspecting cancer but did not want to say it and convinced Zofia who was always all about a second opinion, to go to Dr Uzick my Naturopathic Oncologist. Zofia went to see him a few times and went on a Friday to do blood work and on that Monday received a call that her blood results were not good and to get herself to an ER right now. Zofia was in a state of shock of course and I recommended she call Dr Miley for the best ER to go to (because of all this covid stuff) The following day on a Tuesday (I was in DC for my sons graduation) Milton took her to the ER and by now she had swelling in her legs as well as stomach .Zofia and Milton were told that scan showed cancer spread to liver, lungs, kidneys, bones and lymph nodes. The largest mass was in her right kidney. This was the first time she heard she had cancer. ER doctors recommended she go to her primary care physician to get a referral to an oncologist. Her very rude PCP told Zofia (Milton was present) she has a couple of months to live and get her affairs in order! This is the same PCP that had no idea that anemia at a certain age is caused by cancer and should have sent her to do an MRI immediately! Our first appointment with the oncologist and based on the ER scan he received he told us that he thinks its kidney cancer but will wait on a biopsy and lab results for a definite diagnosis! If lab confirms that it is kidney cancer she will need chemo for life because it has spread. If she would have come earlier with kidney cancer that kidney could be surgically removed and you can live with one kidney. I will never forget Zofia looked at me and said " I wish I would have taken the blood test in March" referring to the Galleri cancer detection blood test The month of August was lots of testing including a biopsy of the liver. Oncologist told us at our meeting that biopsy lab results came back with a diagnosis of HER2+++ breast cancer. The oncologist discussed a very aggressive chemo because this type of cancer is very aggressive. I had the same breast cancer and same chemo 6 years ago and in March I found out that " no cancer detected" in my body referring to the Galleri cancer detection blood test. Because Zofia was otherwise very healthy with no medical issues was never in a hospital she agreed to this very aggressive treatment to "kill" this very aggressive breast cancer. So we thought... After her first chemo she was on a wheelchair and second chemo was bedridden and hired 24/7 caregivers. The steroids she was taking the day of chemo caused a scary side effects. When we met with her oncologist he told us that he was suspecting that it was NOT breast cancer and sent to a secondary lab for testing. The second lab just sent him confirmation that it is NOT breast cancer but they need to do more testing .Imagine how shocking that was to all of us to find out that Zofia got 2 wrong chemos. During this nightmare Zofia was in and out of TMC 4 times. Her oncologist let her know that if she gets a third chemo it will kill her. In my personal opinion I believe then that the first 2 wrong chemos contributed to her death right? Not only did the 2 chemos not work but now the cancer spread to her brain.! Zofia was now at home on hospice care. She was sent with liquid morphine, oxygen ,a hospital bed and several "nightmare' drugs . I was her medical POA and together with Milton decided to go holistic and hold off on the morphine and drugs.( I was also Zofias financial POA dealing with horrible banks as well as in charge of her funeral arrangements and her will to name a few) During this horrific time meeting and talking to holistic nurses and doctors and individuals who oppose chemo and treat themselves holistically I made a discovery! Cancer is a parasitic infection. I researched met with and found out that Fenbendazol,a dog dewormer, is being used to treat cancer patients in several clinics around the country.A dewormer??? well that confirmed to me that cancer is caused by parasites who suck all our nutrients causing anemia and a host of other unexplained diseases. Also Dr Miley on one of her visits recommended we use ivermectin also a dewormer right? What absolutely confirmed for me that cancer is caused by parasites is when I met Dr Uzick 5 years ago and he put me on a regiment of preventing a recurrence, the first thing he told me to take is Melatonin.I thought Melatonin is for sleep...well not only for sleep. Dr Uzick told me then that Melatonin 20 mg has anti cancerous properties. So now I did my research and bingo! melatonin is also a dewormer and there are clinics in the USA treating cancer patients with high doses of melatonin.By just taking melatonin you will Not fall asleep. You will fall asleep after taking melatonin when you are in a dark place or have an eye mask on then sleep is triggered. Zofias was getting physical therapy from her next door neighbour daily, vitamin C intravenousely by Dr Deal once a week as well as several supplements including ivermectin and phenbendazol. Two weeks after Zofia was sent home from her 4th TMC stay lab culture confirmed that she also has sepsis infection and was put on antibiotics. On Monday night she had severe pain in her stomach and asked for morphine...that was it she never woke up and on Saturday around noon she took her last breath...my best friend passed away I really really wanted her to be a survivor... Over a month ago I formally requested all her medical records from Oncology and TMC but as of today nothing and we still have no idea what kind of cancer Zofia had! I cannot change the past but imagine if back in March she would have taken the gallerri cancer detection blood test? it would have confirmed she had cancer and pinpointed the exact location for treatment... I will leave links for the gallerri test and a youtube video sent to me about fenbendazol as well as my foundation. You do your own research I am sharing my factual experiences. I would like to invite all of you Sunday December 4th 4-6 pm to a Pink Ribbon Boudoir photo exhibit for breast cancer survivors.Free admission. The Post Workspaces 7400 N Oracle rd. ( Ina @ Oracle) Food and Beverage trucks. Next to my canvas will be Zofias photo with her hat honoring my best friend. We will have a silent auction to fundraise for the event as well as for my non profit breast cancer foundation. Also the Tucson Polish Club Zofia and I started over a year ago will continue and renamed as Zofias Polish Club. Everyone is invited to the Polish Cottage restaurant on Broadway on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 pm I have planned a "celebration of life" for Zofia (it is full) and the next day her private funeral/laying her ashes next to her only son who tragically died on his 19th birthday in a car crash in California. If you cannot make the December event, you can donate to my breast cancer non profit in honor of my best friend Zofia.
