Jonathan Frid made Barnabas the absolute best he could make it because there was a lot of human in Barnabas as opposed to killing he could play The killing part there were some scenes that I didn't care for at all because he was extremely mean heartless
Jonathan Frid play Barnabas quite a bit human with feelings you could cry for Jonathan Frid cuz he did such a good job on making Barnabas so human he wasn't always he wasn't always a miserable monster I don't think anybody else could have ever done as well as he did I wished he was still around cuz he made my life happier but it's just been recently since I've been able to see the whole show when I was a kid when the show was taken off the air or when the news people or whenever who interrupted or whatever was done when it was taken off I didn't get to see it then when I got older I got a streaming device and I was able to watch Jonathan Fred in his glory and he was wonderful I just wish that I had been able to see him on stage I would love to have met him he's my idol to this day even though he's no longer with us he's still my idol to this day. Jonathan Frid could make you happy one moment happy one moment and crying the next that's a hell of a good actor and no matter what and no matter what anybody says about Barnabas nobody but nobody could do it better than Jonathan Frid.
I just found this post about Jonathan Frid from a large Facebook Grp> "" Mr. Frid was a proud Canadian. When he retired he moved back to Ontario Canada where he had family and many friends. Jonathan Frid never married ( obviously ) and he never had any children. However, he was survived by his beloved cousins and his brother's children, and by his Grand niece and nephews who loved and adored him. They called him 'Uncle John'. He was dearly loved. Mr. Frid was not a religious man so there was no ceremony after he died. He never liked to be fussed over and he did not want a funeral nor a memorial. He preferred to be remembered alive and enjoying life. Mr. Frid did not want a final resting place in fear of the many obsessive fans he had who would seek out the grave of 'Barnabas Collins' and set up memorials and write graffiti about his character. He didn't want fans to put him up on a pedestal like a movie idol. He never wanted that kind of attention. Jonathan Frid said that many fans had trouble separating him, the actor from the character he had played. Fans would address him as Barnabas instead of his real name and they'd ask him a lot of 'vampire' related questions. He did not want those kinds of obsessive fans to bother his relatives . Mr. Frid would often say that he was nothing like his Barnabas character. He also stated several times that he would like to be remembered for more than just his work on Dark Shadows. He had twenty years of acting experience before he even appeared on the TV show and several years of doing dramatic readings in his reader's theater and in his one-man shows and his tour with the play, Arsenic and Old Lace with actors Marion Ross, Jean Stapleton and Larry Storch. Mr. Jonathan Frid was so much more than just his Barnabas character. R I P .""
Jonathan Frid was so nice, we rarely got to seehis comic timing. Mentioning Thayer David was awesome.

What a handsome man. He can bit my neck anytime.
Mmmmm “you don’t have sex and yet….” Lol this was one of Jonathan’s many sexiest qualities. That n his incredible intelligent gentlemanliness.
I think he said "you don't have sexiness - but you have charm"
The original Dark Shadows not dying. Even after 55 years. There might be a future resurface maybe 50 years from now after we are all dead. Who knows.
This is a good interview with lots of insightful information. I wish that more fans could see it. Thank you for posting it.

This is the most open I have ever heard Mr. Frid talk about his time on the series as well as his character.
He's so charismatic and the Dark Shadows legacy is going strong after decades
Thanks for posting this. I’m late to the game and in love with JF who’s been gone for 8 years.
