Ya, sometimes it takes a lot of work. I generally throw multiple times in fan like direction so I cover a lot of water, left to right, and reel medium speed, then I repeat but let it sink 2-5 seconds and reel slower, then repeat a 3rd time and let it sink 5-10 seconds (depends on depth) and reel as slow as I can without dragging it on the bottom. After that, I change colors and size. Sizing down to 1/8 helps, if the bites are slow.

@@fngfishing7739 Are those rainbow trouts good eating? And what other lures do you use to catch them with? Heard from the man at the tackle stores that super dupers work good.

@@moseskongi4746 Hi Moses. Great Questions. Rainbow Trout is wonderful to eat, in my opinion. When making fillets, be sure to cut out the pin bones. You will lose some meat but well worth it. I cook it with lemon, garlic, bacon, and seasoning and pair with rice/butter. Kastmasters 1/8 and 1/4oz are great from shore or boat, but I've had success with supers, and also, Acme Phoebe's, Thomas Bouyant spoons 1/6oz, micetails, Hookup Baits 1/16 and 1/32.

For me, it's very fun to find them with kastmasters. 1/4 oz. work well with trout over 14 inches. Smaller trout will bite it too, but you may miss the hook set sometimes. If that happens, we can always downsize the hooks 1 size. HFGL

@@fngfishing7739 You are right about missing the hook set on smaller trout. I lose 2 fish that way. I will try 1/8 oz but hard to get distance with it.

Good Morning bro. Sorry for the late response. How was the trip? Main tips for that spot: For lures - I'd try 1/4 and 1/8 oz silver Kastmasters. For bait/wait - try Caroline Rig, with pink micetails 4lb test leader 24-30" leader and size 10 or 12 mosquito hooks.

I agree. When I was asked to do so, I also said we can but usually dont have to gaff those. I think it made the guys on that side of the boat feel a little better while so much was going on at the same time. We ran into a heavy bite. On the bright side, none of the other 6 or 7 sculpin we caught were gaffed.

They came out pretty good. They were soaked in milk for a few minutes then lightly breaded, salt, pepper, lemon, seasoning of choice, butter fried with rice. It was almost as good as the fried rockcod.

Yamaha Ed Hello and yes in California we need one unless fishing from a pier or land based pier type structure (i.e.:jetty). This applies to beach and boat fishing, and will also require the ocean enhancement for saltwater. Hope this info helped!
