Nice work Nathan, that stuff did NOT look light bro!
Thanks, I was dead for the next 2 days 😂
Suggestion...get yourself a small rolling scaffold for this kind of work. You will likely be able to sell it after the renovation is done for a large percentage of your original cost. It's a safer option than the boards on blocks. :) You don't need a "name brand" product...whatever the local equivalent of Harbor Freight here in the US will do nicely.
Thanks for the suggestion ! Definitely will look into that. The ladder was certainly cumbersome and I wouldn’t want to go through that hassle again.
@@ohiotobordeaux6295 Yes, it will make a difference for a lot of the work you still have ahead of you, especially since you have high ceilings, etc. I bought one when I was doing my shop building fit out and it was a "yuge" benefit. Bought it for just over $200 US and sold it for $180 US a year later. This is for what's called a "Baker" type rolling scaffold...I guess that was the original brand name "back in the day".
I strongly recommend you add anchor ties to each end of your new cinder block wall to the old stone wall; every 3rd course of block in the vertical direction. Use a galvanized wall ties to secure the new block to the original stone wall. Additionally, add motor to each end on each new block before laying each block on your new wall. These additional steps will greatly improve the structural integrity of the new wall, and eliminate any possibility of the wall falling over if someone was to accidentally fall against the wall. Do these steps to keep your family safe.
Hi, we thought « concrete armored belt » into the other walls were good enough… definitely screenshotting your comment to take a look at your advices online! We do like stuff sturdy and safe! Thanks a lot! 😊

Watched you work all alone, videos are one man working, your wife isn’t doing anything?
She does things, I promise, just not much on camera…
Other you tube videos you see husband and wife working together, you only film?
I do work too, and film lol (and mount videos) and I take care of all the garden… lol
Do you only film the video’s or are you helping in any way at all?
Hey! I do help on my husband’s projects, but I usually work on my own projects… pretty hard to film myself and get the shots I want. So I put down the camera, help then film again. You can see me on the pouring concrete videos for example. Thanks for watching 😊
Looks like you’ll be needing some Ben Gay! Your poor arms. Great job guys. 👍
Surprisingly I was doing ok the day after! But yeah pretty intense work 😊
It wild vertical rebar into the footer isnt used....that said the old wall has stood tall for 200 years.
Yeah, I see what you mean… we followed our mason’s advice. Although I’m never against more reinforcement !
😊😊😊
That looks big!
Thanks a lot! 🙏🏼
You man of steel! Respect
Thanks a lot! 😊
Bonjour, la poutre horizontale coulée en béton s'appelle un chaînage, bon courage ....

@hafidayousfialaoui7794 merciii 🥰
Exactement! Merci pour votre commentaire! 😊
Eine sehr schön gemauerte Wand, mein Herr Maurer! A very beautifully built wall, Mr. Mason! Un mur très joliment réalisé, M. Maçon! Some time ago i learned how to use this kind of cinder blocks (Brought to you by "Brrrricomarché ") -- you can do a lot of tricks with them -- using rebar and cement filling - i am an electrician by profession -- and i had a friend make and weld me an installable "fuse box" exactly the size of one of the cinder blocks -- i call them "french Stones" Lol" -- Have nice week -
Herzlichen Dank! Yes, they are quite versatile.. it was slightly confusing at first seeing all of the various options/types. That is awesome about your custom box - gives us ideas !! 😊
@@ohiotobordeaux6295 Hi there - your new wall offers you another great opportunity - methinks .. just an idea too -- lol Blow-in insulation: advantages and possible uses.... Blow-in insulation: advantages and possible uses 05.04.2022 , Werner Eicke-Hennig, Arnold Drewer Blow-in insulation materials are inexpensive, easy to process and have a wide range of applications. At least twelve insulation materials in 31 fields of application offer thermal protection for walls, roofs, basement ceilings and special cases for almost all buildings. The potential of blow-in insulation for climate protection is considerable: the uncomplicated and cost-effective insulation technology improves building efficiency in both new and existing buildings - and it has proven itself particularly in complicated situations. Following this insight, the Netherlands promoted the core insulation of double-shell external walls as early as the energy crisis in 1974. In northern Europe, this wall structure accounts for around 30 percent, in the Netherlands it is even over 60 percent [1] Just take a deep breath ---- and blow the insulation stuff into the space between the old and the new wall - if the space is dry -- you will not have damp spots - and a well working "mechanical ventilation" -- too. As the saying goes, kill two birds with one stone. Have fun!
@@ohiotobordeaux6295 Hello - and a good evening - this double wall of yours did tickle me the hole day - now what about a so called "Blow- in insulation"? A relatively cheap, well working, very good insulation - --- just another "idea" if i may? In addition it would give the wall a well working "mechanical rear ventilation" have fun - Greets, H.
@Harryset1 Hi!!! Great idea! We thought about filling the in between the two walls, but then never got anything lol. We just thought we will go for rockwool insulation in front of the cinder block wall… also we will fix the other side later, so things can still be done from the other side! Thanks a lot, we do appreciate advices, as you know, we are not professionals! Bonne soirée!
@@ohiotobordeaux6295 Hello, this is a late night answer: Great that you are considering my suggestion! years ago we came across a double wall comparable to yours, in a building that had to fulfil multiple functions during the last three Centuries .. My old friend Paul just said: Ah -- let's be careful - maybe we found a spot where the masters of the "Ancien Régime" did hide their skeletons..... Yes, Paul's humor is very black .. the French variety - Good night! Harry
😊 Nice!!!
Nice work Nathan! You should be proud of that wall!
Thanks a lot! 😊 makes us happy!
Glad to see you guys good job
Glad you watched! Thanks 😊
😊
Quel beau travail minutieux
Merci beaucoup Jijou! 🥰
Good job, Nathan 👏
Thank you!
you guys are awesome. Great job. Cant wait to come there and jump on that area :)
Thanks so much buddy! But if I knew that I would have reinforced it.. 😂 jk ❤️
@@ohiotobordeaux6295 haha
Will you replacing the floor or matching the existing one?
We don’t really know yet! 😊
It's all coming together.
Yes little by little 😊
The Task you are taking on is very impressive and you should be proud of yourself. squeaking happens when the floor board rubs against a loose nail not the floor board hitting the joist. The tape you are using may help a little with absorbing noise.
Thanks a lot, that’s a very encouraging comment! Oh, good to know for the squeaking… Have a nice weekend!
Bravo les courageux
Merci beaucoup 😊
C'est super ça avance 😊
Oui petit à petit! 😘
Ah, good evening, good to see that your Ohioan bank vault thrower is doing well. No back pain, i hope?
Hey! Actually after one day of bed rest, my Ohioan thrower is doing ok! Lol! Thanks for asking! Have a wonderful weekend! 😊
@@ohiotobordeaux6295 Just tell him that he should thank his gods that he is not working for my old boss, Master Ephraim .. He would have kicked his poor bum -- starting with :"So you do think we are stuntman? No risk of fun?" LOL! BTW: The U- shaped thingi is called a "Joist hanger" in the 'murican language - please be careful - and have a nice weekend - both of you.
@Harryset1 haha, funny boss! You are right, life is too precious! Take care too! 😊
Good job!, I have a cast iron and. Porcelain. Stove that needs to be moved, it’s about 450 pounds lol, it’s not being moved again
Some things are not meant to be… moved lol PS: you can also sacrifice a dolly 😅
I must say that you have Ball's,l would never do that without at least one more guy helping you 😅
I wouldn’t either normally but my wife asked me to 😂 thanks a lot!
Wow your man is a stud nice work
Aw thanks lol 😅
Wow that was incredible, that no one was hurt or walls damaged. good job.
Thanks a lot! I sweated all along the process watching Nate taking the safe down! 😅

Wouldn’t it be great to really get work done at that warp speed (as you tiled)? Great job! The cinder block wall looks perfect! You guys are truly amazing. Bravo! 👏🏽
Thanks a lot Susan! It would indeed be awesome to work this fast 😂 thanks again! 🥰
Like Samantha on the old tv show Bewitched! She just twitched her nose and “Voila”…done. Lol 💕
@susanjamieson I do remember the show! So fun 😊

The wall looks great. You should put screens in like you do back in the Midwest. Things with wings should stay outside. lol, (Michigan here)
Thanks a lot! First thing first when we will install the new windows! Plus we have a mosquito infestation in the region! I miss my Midwest screens haha 😊
Grate job Nathan
Thanks a lot for him! 🥰
Can I ask why you didn't just put the the pipe through the wall and then just down on the outside of the house. Then you could bury the waste pipe on the outside of the house.
Absolutely, we thought about it… but since the septic tank is like 20+ meters away from that side of the house it was shorter to pass the waste pipes all the way straight across the house, don’t know if that make sense. From where you are pointing, that would have add us another 5meters of piping length (plus the slope), so we would have ended up with a very high waste pipe to burry outside. We couldn’t really decide neither on where to place the septic tank (the special bureau decided) taking on consideration the permeability of the ground. 😊
Thank you the answer. I was just curious.
No problem, would have been fun to have public sewers… 🤷🏻♀️
Que le Bon Dieu vous assiste
Merci beaucoup mon oncle! 🙏🏼
