Been in that situation before when my windless broke. I grabbed the chain by hand and pulled it up. Not easy with a 50 pound anchor. Not sure what the boat hook was suppose to do.
This people should never be on the sea!
Gee, if they only made a way to turn that windlass without power....like a crank that you can manually turn....
