Shere Hite author and researcher talking on a panel about sexuality 1986

Feminist and sexologist Shirley Diana Gregory - better known as Shere Hite. From the time of Freud, it was widely accepted that women could only climax through penetrative sex - “the great male thrust” - and if they couldn’t, there must be something wrong with them. For frustrated women faking orgasm, the report was a godsend, alerting women to their own sexual power, and informing men of the e...

Brilliant! Shere Hite explains her third book on Women and Love (1987) so clearly and succinctly. Her pioneering work on Sex is more importance and relevant than ever - given it has been often neglected. Thank you
Just ignore the nasty ignorant little boys ...just ignore them. ❤
😮❤😮
Disability and sex is yet another story.♥️🌻🙏🇬🇧👨🏽🦽
This is not true. Detailed illustrations or the clitoris, including internal parts, were in anatomy textbooks in the beginning of 20th century
Ugh her anatomy diagram is so bad. Men did a better job illustrating this in the 1800s 🤦🏻♀️
Thank you Dr.Hite for your excellent work! Women and men will continue to benefit from trying to understand how to get the best out of themselves. This will create a society in which respect, open mindedness and love will help us in avoiding conflict and violence whilst working towards harmony, beauty and a fulfilling life
wow Geraldo clear & level headed here. On other Channels and interviewers Shere Hite was viciously attacked with fear and anger. The angriest and most violent responses to her were from men.
Sixty years later women on dating apps are reporting exactly the same thing Dr. Hite is describing here. How sad.
Complete and utter nonsense...
Let's all recognize Geraldo for being an excellent interviewer in this episode.
i wish the doc had shown how she ended up in Tottenham. i know the place well. i was looking for her bio but its out of print.
Men simply didn't want to hear the truth and the women who pulled her down were envious. if they wanted to help they could have collaborated / contacted her to improve validity.
saw the doc yesterday and was nearly crying. she was treated terribly by the media. she should have done what her friend said and just said to them, 'the work speaks for itself'. I've done my research. Anyone can say what they want. i am happy with the validity of the research.
Smart, beautiful and so brave.
Venus personified❤❤🩹💜💋💋
I'm so glad I found this after seeing so many clips where Shere Hite was attacked for no reason, just some people's misunderstanding of her findings. Sadly, she was slut shamed literally out of the country by those same people and now, fifty years later, American still struggles with The Orgasm Gap where a woman has a 70% chance of not reaching orgasm if there's a man in the room. Now we have Dr. Laurie Mintz's book, "Clitoricy" which explains all over again what Shere Hite so bravely discovered and shared. Hopefully we'll learn our lesson this time and unite men and women together in love❤
Omg, how dry..ok, please shut up❤ She’s nailing it-he’s uncomfortable..
I find this as very exciting..but I love, love too❤I do love fantasy..but, nice ones..woman ought to expect kind regards. No stupid gonzo porn..please be kind and love me. Yeh, I can do it without you..
Bestiality anyone?
who are those 2 women closing in on Shere?
They may be docents trying to bollix up her presentation bc they don't like her filming there. Nevertheless she persisted.
Wow, she's amazing, and so so wise. Somehow I missed her until now, but as a male who gets far more pleasure from bringing a woman to orgasm (which I seem able to do consistently) than orgasming myself, (I actually have difficulty in orgasming at all), I've always felt oddly embarrassed. It would seem that Shere was on my side!
A woman literally ahead of her time. I remember seeing controversy around her in the 80s, but being from a leftist family I could never understand all the vitriol. To me it just proves how most people in the US have an absolute teenager mentality to social and political issues. It's all from our lack of a meaningful education. Critical thinking and rational thought are in the ICU on life support suffering from gunshot wounds.

Excellent !!
Brilliant, concise discussion of women's sexuality and the implications of feminist enlightenment/revolution. She really saw the whole picture so clearly.
Thank you
This Is From The Designing Women Reservations For Eight March 1988 Episode
I remember getting Hite Report on makes from library as a teen. This video may be inducing a flashback.
Muslim women! They've been female genital mutilationtilatied! FGM!!! Please comment
Just the fact that she's seated amongst men who not only felt livid, when they read/watched, but still ARE--goes to show her courage.
The fact that *nobody* in this day and age in America knows who Shere was is criminal and kind of frightening, because she should be a freaking sex-positive/LGBTQ icon by now. I really hope the upcoming documentary about her life will do something to restore her well-deserved place in popular history
The amount of self control Oprah and Shere has just to put up being surrounded by these men with that kind of mindset.
I love it🥰
Was there ever a more beautiful woman than Shere Hite?
Look how uptight these guys pretended to be!
How I wish I had listened to this lecture when it was first made. How sensible it is.
Ayyo, my lady! Holla atcho fellow scholar!
This was an amazing piece of education, history, and simply human evolution! I wasn't born at the time. Neither have I traveled to America (so far). But the universality of that information transpires. I'm sorry she was so badly treated (enough to relinquish her American citizenship). Thank you for sharing! May she rest in peace or in power!
I was born in '82. I had almost no knowledge of her, to my shame. Not even in my sexuality coaching training (which is American!) were the Hite Reports ever mentioned. That's so sad! Not only was this woman ahead of her times, but she is still accurate today. Her appearance on Oprah Winfrey Show and the way men mostly attacked her (a.k.a.: they felt attacked by her) and the topics they brought up are still the lines that dating coaches and pick-up artists promote today. Why is it that we haven't collectively made a shift? Why are we stuck in the same relationship dynamics? Though I do very sadly believe the current „pandemic” will have a negative impact on mass relationships. I fear our human interactions will go even lower in quality, with isolating people in the home, reducing human interactions, pushing technology for doing our work, etc. So the Hite report, redone nowadays, would bring even more concerning results when it comes to satisfaction, fulfillment, happiness, or the health of our relationships.
Most males and females have totally different brains. Estrogen and testosterone. It’s proven by science. Of course it’s important what she did in terms of talking about female sexuality. But blaming men for being men is totally misunderstanding them! Check out Alison Armstrong’s Understanding Men.
But she never blamed the men. Say, have you listened to the interview? 🤔
having higher levels of testosterone doesn't make you stupid and arrogant and doesn't justify it. whatever study you checked ignores the political and social part of male behavior, that's what's science was developed for anyway
What you describe of "men being men" is a social construct. Therefore, it can be changed.
@@baramelyes4938 well... it actually does make you more of what you define as "arrogant". Literally...
Featuring sex researcher Shere Hite, who passed a few days ago, giving a remarkable, prescient lecture on female orgasm, feminism, and the intersection of sexuality and patriarchy. The Hite Report, published in 1977, changed my 16-year-old life and emerging sexuality in profound and positive ways. I regret not having sent her a fan letter while we were both alive.
J.H. Plumb makes for great reading.
Rip Shere
More love to women's body less shame
This is why Shere left the US
The amount of mansplaining in this show is OFF THE CHARTS🤣. God bless Shere Hite & Oprah for putting up with all this bullshit. Rest in power Shere
Legend. Rest in peace Shere
RIP Shere Hite.
