Some of the nicest roads to ride around Derbyshire and surrounding counties, mostly ones to saunter around and enjoy the scenery rather than dash around and get a ticket in the mainly 50 limits
30 11 24 Reunion with Helmet Head
Had a great ride 2 years ago when he visited Derbyshire, despite strong winds and a lot of rain. I couldn't make it for the ride today so just popped in to say hello as he's toured much of Europe by Honda Monkey bike during the time since we last met

Had to have a trip down to see start of ride as fairly close to home, Don't qualify to take part in this weekender with my ADV350 but I follow a lot of UA-cam channels with Honda Monkeys and similar, Honda Cubs were main focus here with a great turnout of those and other sub 125cc bikes. This video is part of my ride there and the start of a ride into the countryside including some green-laning...

A Peak District ride though only got so far and found that although public highway my pre planned route was gated and probably a green late. Seems that Google Streetview hasn't driven it so perhaps more suitable for a lightweight off-roader which coincidentally are in the area this week for a festival (saw a few at Yondermann where I called on the way home)

I’ll stick with being this side of camera having been filmed for start of Helmet Head’s latest😮
Next chance I’m there 🤟
Ey up Looks good, I’ll have to give that a go. Thanks for that 👍
That's pretty cool bro. Great ride. I'm glad to add my self to your channel. Greatings from the Philippines brother.
Nice bit of nostalgia Andy. Gail says who’s that good looking chap 😁. Memories eh. Cheers from us both.
Thanks Rob & Gail, decided to pay to have some of the old cine films converted professionally rather than project them on to the wall and film them with digital camera. Will replace some of the events one on my other channel
Donkeys years since we drove through Pilsley and Youlgreave Andy. Must remember not to take the caravan down that narrow lane ! 😂. Cheers Rob & Gail 👍
@@robswiseways5697 it’s not the way I’d normally go (past Hassop Station Cafe) though I have seen caravan on similarly unsuitable lanes like the back route over the tops from Bamford to Hathersage and a towed horse box from Beeley Moor to Rowsley
Enjoyed that , I must try that lane down to Bakewell from Pilsley 🤟
Ey up Did you go in Edensor Cafe Andy?
@@TheMatlockBiker no I just started filming there. Had a drink at Peak Feast at the end of filming. Only time for a short ride on way to collect a bit of shopping
Morning Andy, good to meet you at The Duke. I'm sorry about leaving you in shot, I should've checked with you first mate - lesson learned. Nice to see local lanes from someone else's viewpoint. Cheers.
@@martintraffordmoorlandbike7121 no problem with that, always good for my little channel to get a namecheck. Was more bothered that I’d accidentally photobombed your recording!
No worries on that score Andy, the reason I left your full frontal was for the benefit of your channel! 😅
@@martintraffordmoorlandbike7121 thanks
Ey up Nice one Andy. Couldn’t make it to the Duke William today, although I do try to make it most Wednesday’s when it’s on

Nice ride 😊
Beautiful roads and scenery 👌 lost count of the cyclist 🚴 😮😂
Sorry I’m a bit late catching up with videos. The adjustments you’ve made to the camera have worked really well. This was a nice relaxing viewing. Well done. 👍
@@thesilverfoxtravels6653 Thanks. Improved exposure and stability but on / off recording is less manageable on helmet. On a long trip I would probably continuously record and swap batteries after an hour as I now have a few more spares and separate charger
Low Bradfield on a Saturday afternoon for an ice cream watching the cricket through summer is one of my favourite rides 🤟
@@Paul.Gascoyneuk for years I only though of Sheffield as being totally urban apart from bits round Millhouses or Graves Park but there’s some great lanes and reservoirs round that way and The Schoolrooms is a nice place for a snack
I was 14 when you passed your test 😮 its crazy how much hectic life has become, i loved the film part of Matlock, thanks for sharing sir 👍🙏😊
Though someone has posted old clip of Baslow 1957 and it’s more packed with cars than now, a key East / West route through Derbyshire with no motorways or dual carriageways as alternative
Looks like great fun buddy! I’ll defo be doing it on the monkey in the future 😊
Hope there’s another that I can make :)
Thats washed your wheels Andy 😂. Cheers Rob
@@robswiseways5697 only the car one involved me!
Think there was about 114 bikes on Saturdays ride, big fun 😊🐒🤪
I was there on my black Monkey bike, great day, loads of footage too 👍 nice video, you got my subscription bro 👍😎🤘
Ever thought of thinking up a song you could sing about riding a bike or in the countryside and having some of your footage shown in the background You could then take it with you on a tv programme like Britain's got talent and they will pop your footage on in your background while you are on the stage with your bike? It would be well cool and very original! Check out the guy who did welcome to the isle of Wight on Britain's got talent and they put the footage of him in the background! I think his name was Derek Sandy? Why not give it a try! Great way to get more people to view your excellent videos!👍
Wow! Well smart!👍
How about visiting famous sites like Pleasley Pit? You could go through New Houghton in the way there and also go through Bolsver Town? Blessings bro!🤗
@@EstherJohn-y1y went about 5 years ago on a group visit, this clip is when I was planning a possible back lane ride. Date showing is when I transferred old Facebook Videos to UA-cam during lockdown ua-cam.com/video/X2qBxJ-IzfY/v-deo.htmlsi=T8BotVYH85nYAMfI
Lovely video! More!👍
@@EstherJohn-y1y Most of my videos are out in the countryside which is West of Chesterfield. My working area covered Bolsover District for over 30 years. Went to Scooter rally at Carr Vale and 1940s weekend a few years ago; took photos but no video
That's really COOL! How about doing a video of it this time? They hold various activities in New Houghton, perhaps coming to one of them in the future like when they do the fireworks for instance!😄
You must have got there early Andy, plenty of parking spaces. The good weather brings all those shiny bikes out 👍. Big thumbs up for camera work, Gail watched without feeling travel sick 😂. Great camaraderie. Cheers, Rob & Gail 😀
@@robswiseways5697 has its pros & cons as I can’t see screen to stop and start filming. If it goes into sleep mode it needs 2 presses to switch off. Battery probably lasts about an hour so ok for short rides and editing out later. Did a slideshow of Ashover Classic Cars show today with about 400 pics high when edited will be on my events channel tinyurl.com/SBACCEM
Lad! it was awesome meeting you yesterday morning! gutted we didn't get to properly sit down for a chat! Looking forward to the next meet up!!!
@@Topboy_Jonny had to dash to get start of ride, thing I missed a couple at front. Done a slideshow of classic car show today which when edited will be in my events channel tinyurl.com/SBACCEM so ready to sit down and watch some of the Saturday action
lets go for a nice walk in the country and get away from the crowds.
More beautiful Derbyshire scenery Andy 👍. We walked the abandoned road and to the summit of Mam Tor when we stayed at Castleton caravan club site the other year. Never explored Edale though. Cheers Rob & Gail 😀
I remember watching that one. Looking at Google Streetview (14 years old) motor vehicles seem to be permitted much further up the lane at the Castleton end than they now are. The loop from top of Winnat’s Pass past Edale and coming out at Hope is a great road (perhaps not for caravan towing). I filmed more than intended yesterday as I was pleased that I’d much improved the over-exposure problem so the route from Edale to Foolow is on my other clip
Nice nostalgia video 👌🏻
We have such beautiful countryside
Was that a Puch Maxi from 72? Great that you've got that on film. Looks like you had quite a break before getting on the road?
Is Honda Graduate, I went a full Circe as back to Honda almost 50 years late. Never got a photo unfortunately, old cine clip is only thing
That is a rare bike. The predecessor to the Honda Camino.@@derbyshireruralrider9398
@@greatbritishbikingadventures last time I saw one was in Cotswolds Motor Museum on my 50th birthday, my main present that year was going to Wales for Harley Davison experience day which I did a few weeks late
Smashing ride through the countryside and nice music to go with it. Sadly some sections of it were difficult to make out as it was over exposed especially when looking into the sun. Very nice ride out though. 👍
It took me longer to get there than the whole filmed part of the ride, run out of local roads the I haven’t covered many times. Always had problem with exposure on this camera and editing colour, contrast and exposure on Movie Maker doesn’t cure it. On old scooter with my Flip Mino mounted to the front rack I got better quality footage but as it’s supposed to be a hand held camera there was too much shake on this one where the mount is on the mirror. Can’t really justify spending a fortune on one, only a hobby and never going to make any money (I know some do)
CBX1000 chopper!?
Great old video footage. I'm just over the boarder in Staffordshire. 👍
Wow blue skies, sunshine and bikes! And some are a bit off the wall!!
Looks a great meet up. Didn’t have a bike of my own back then but a couple of times when holidaying in Dorset (even at the other side of the county) we made a point of being in Poole area on the Tuesday
Great to see that original cine from back then. Very appropriate music to accompany this too 👍
Thanks, got quite a bit of my dad’s old film from 60s & 70s and really should have them properly digitalised rather than just projecting to wall and filming. Not a single photo of the moped though! Found cover versions of the Madonna song so hopefully no copyright issues
Lovely ride through some beautiful villages. May I suggest you pop a bit of text on to say what villages we're seeing as we approach them? I'd find that really helpful to work with the excellent 3d map at the end. Which was very nicely done 👍 Many thanks. Peter
Good set of pics. Interesting how the 'classic' machines have all got drip trays underneath 😂.
Hi DRR. I'm new to your channel courtesy of TAYM! You seem to run a maxi scooter. I'm thinking of a scoot myself, not being young anymore, and am interested in what machine you have. Twist -and-go, I assume?? Thanks, k.
ADV350, I think it’s more nimble than some maxi scooters. Handles well on country lanes, town traffic and enough power to keep up with traffic on 70mph dual carriageways. I keep getting tempted by geared bikes but never find anything I like better than one I’ve got. Thanks for subscribing
Hi Andy, you chose some of the best biker roads in this one Im not an expert in filming or photography, but I can’t help noticing that the video gets white when pointing towards a bright sky or sunlight, like it’s overexposed. When it isn’t aiming that way the colours look good. Also I’m not sure what camera you’re using but can you increase the video quality? It’s coming out as 720p Looking forward to spring which only just round the corner, then we can get out a bit more 👍🌝 Cheers Ged
It’s one of the better ones as not much sun. It’s a camera that cost about £40 so not up to GoPro or Indta360 that cost a fortune. I got better picture quality on my Flip Mini on old scooter (A to Z in listing) as that was minted on front rack but first time used on free there was picture shake. Used colour enhancement on software but exposure alteration isn’t effective
Hiya, yes the cost of those GoPro’s, Insta’s and DJI’s are ridiculous. Probably the main reason why I haven’t started doing what you do. What software do you use to do post editing?
@@TheMatlockBiker I only do it to remind me of nice routes, my events channel often gets a lot more (though early ones on there lost a lot when I transferred them to new channels) tinyurl.com/SBACCEM

Well you just nicely followed my route home from my little part-time job in Ashbourne, to Warslow! I came through the same way just a few hours after you, in the dark! Not quite as scenic as your very pleasant offering. Cheers.
I stopped filming there as I’ve often shown route into Hartington. I meant to take a still shot outdid pub but panicked that I hadn’t saved Relive. Called for a drink at cafe / shop in Hartington and luckily they have WiFi. Enjoyed going through that tunnel for fist time, only seen it on UA-cam by you & Richy Vida
Haven't tried Relive, so I must give it a go. I'm a bit of a technophobe though, so I won't hold my breath!
@@martintraffordmoorlandbike7121 my issue is still overexposure in sunny days as it was yesterday, especially low in the sky at this time of year. Need an expensive camera that adjusts to it
Great video, not many would know these tracks exists Nearly bought the house in Youlgreave opposite the George Inn on the corner 20 years ago
Always liked the village, used to prefer to go cross country to Crewe when our daughter was a student there though that first single track round was travelled in error as I intended to via Middleton and nearer to caravan site. Given me an idea of a different route ti try next time though
Oops, spotted error, 2nd picture after starting titles should have been a bit further en route
Nice one 👍

Been to that cafe a couple of times.. really nice place. 👍👍👍👍
First time I’d been, I think the 2 former pubs are both cafes now which makes more sense because they won’t be anyone’s local
Nice views along the Cat & Fiddle Andy. You were yards away from the pub 😀. Cheers, Rob
Looks like a fantastic ride pal 👏🤜
I suspect you have a stabilisation issue..? Nice day for it, anyway.
It’s a cheap camera mounted on mirror do it’s never going match quality of top vloggers that make money out of itv. It’s mainly done for serve as a reminder of roads I’ve travelled, my slideshows on my other channel tinyurl.com/SBACCEM are much more views
