Episodes US/CAN/UK/AUS Molly's Special Special * - Molly is a new engine on the island and is given the job of taking empty trucks back to the coaling plant. Molly is unhappy because she wants to take full trucks like a really useful engine. But after an embarrassing mishap Molly and the other engines learn that empty trucks are important too. Respect for Gordon * - When Gordon's firebox develops a rattle, the other engines tease him but when they have to do Gordon's work, they find it's a lot hard then they thought. They realise that they miss Gordon - even his rattle. Gordon realises that without his friends, his passengers would be stuck. Emily Knows Best ** - Emily is taking passengers to the ruined castle when she decides that she will be queen for a day. Toby doesn't think Emily could be queen. And when Emily gives Percy some advice on his troublesome trucks which has disastrous results, she realises that being Queen is harder than she thought. Saving Edward * - When Edward starts wheezing and leaking steam, he doesn't want Sir Topham to find out in case he has to be scrapped. And when Thomas offers to do an important job for him, Sir Topham notices and sends Edward straight to the fitter's yard for repairs. Rheneas and the Dinosaur * - When some important dinosaur bones are discovered, Mr. Percival (the Thin Controller) needs to transport them to the Transfer Yards. He lets Rheneas take the bones on his own but they are too heavy for one engine. So his friend Skarloey helps carry the flatbed to the Transfer Yards with Rheneas - just in time to be photographed with the dinosaur. Thomas and the Golden Eagle ** - A golden eagle has been spotted on Sodor. Thomas and Percy are both desperate to see it and agree to help each other with their work, but poor Percy ends up doing all of Thomas' work! Thomas is still looking for the eagle when he suddenly remembers Percy and races back to take Percy's milk to the dairy as quickly as he can. (*Followed by a Learning Segment) (**Followed by a song)

Episodes Coal - For all his size and his shiny green coat, Henry has always been a rather delicate engine. The Fat Controller decides to put things right. The Flying Kipper - Henry is very proud the day he pulls "The Flying Kipper," the morning train from the fish quay. But snow jams a signal down and disaster strikes. Whistles and Sneezes - Gordon looks foolish and Henry gets even with naughty boys who drop stones from bridges. Toby and the Stout Gentleman - The Fat Controller goes on holiday and a newcomer, Toby the Tram Engine, arrives in the yard. Thomas in Trouble - Thomas is stopped by a policeman and Toby the Tram Engine comes to the rescue. Dirty Objects - James the Red Engine learns that it is wise not to speak rudely to other engines. You never know what will happen next. Off the Rails - Gordon the big express engine is very upset when he has to pull a train of big trucks. He decides to try a spot of sabotage but gets more than he bargains for. Down the Mine - Thomas tries some mischief and gets in a hole. Gordon has to help him out. Both engines are in disgrace so they decide to form an alliance and never be cheeky to each other again. Thomas' Christmas Party - Thomas and all of his friends from the engine shed get together to say "thank you" to a nice old lady and everyone has a happy Christmas.

Sometimes Henry can pull trains, but at other times, he has no strength at all. One morning, he wakes up feeling very ill. He complains about it to James, who grumpily shrugs it off as him being lazy. The Fat Controller is also unhappy about this, given that this is the latest in a long line of problems with Henry and not even new parts or paint seem to help him. Henry is warned that if he does not get better soon, then he will have to be replaced, which upsets him and his crew. Determined to get to the bottom of the problem, the Fat Controller changes out of his usual suit into a crewman's uniform to ride along in the cab as Henry takes his first train. Henry manages to start, but his fireman is not pleased and notes that his firebox is not producing adequate heat. As a result, Henry quickly loses steam and has to rest in a siding when he reaches Wellsworth, where Edward takes over the train for him. Henry's fireman and the Fat Controller continue to investigate what the problem is and the fireman explains that the coal provided is unsuitable for him, made worse by the poor lot they have been receiving lately. While the other engines have big fireboxes, Henry's is too small to make the amount of heat needed for him to run properly. However, if Henry had Welsh coal, he would easily improve. Although the Welsh coal will be expensive, the Fat Controller agrees that Henry deserves a fair chance and sends James to collect some. When the Welsh coal arrives, Henry's fireman carefully stokes up his fire to give the best possible results. Henry initially has his doubts, but his mood changes as he comes into the platform with more than enough steam. The Fat Controller is happy to see that Henry is feeling well and warns the driver not to push him. The driver assures the Fat Controller not to worry, as Henry would not need pushing, but would have to be held back. Henry has a pleasant journey with his passenger train and for the first time, arrives at Elsbridge ahead of schedule. When Thomas arrives, Henry calls him "lazybones" before quickly running off, paying him back for an earlier insult. Too surprised to be cross, Thomas reacts with disbelief and Annie and Clarabel agree with him.

Coal, retitled Henry's Special Coal on North American releases, is the eighteenth episode of the first series. It is based on the story of the same name from the Railway Series book Henry the Green Engine.
