My Thyroid Cancer Story

This is my Thyroid Cancer Story! I tried to fit all the main details of my journey in the allowed 15 min video lol. If enough people are interested, Id be willing to do a whole separate video on the low iodine diet and preparing for RAI more in Depth. There was a lot of recipes I did and ate throughout the day. I am now doing PT for my neck 8 months post op. Follow me on other social media: INS...
What size was your nodule?
I had a lump on my neck. Got a scan and fine needle biopsy it was inconclusive. I need to get surgery to remove half my thyroid to get it biopsy. Coz they said it was a large nodule.I was suppose to get the operation last week but got cancelled. So now need to wait for another appointment for operation.
Hope you continue to do well.
Hi Thanks for sharing your story im in the same situation unfortionatly.. I was just wondering if you are okay now and hope it did not came back?
hey! May 6th will be 3 years since i found out and so far no reoccurrence👏🏻 i have a follow up in june to check everything so hopefully it will be good news. Ill do an updated video soon!
@@elainedalton4529 thats great news I will get surgery soon and they will also take out limbnotes from one side aswel.. so im pretty scared! How long did you need recovery from the radio active jodium and found balance to the new medication?
Very helpful
Really nice... Classy
So cute! I wish you’d do some hair tutorials!
Im definitely going to!! Its so hard to film and do the work at the same time but im going to try and film some at some point! Its been 1 full year in the studio and my work has definitely gotten better :) I think I'm nervous people will judge!
I am the only guy here. I randomly noticed a painless lump on my neck about 6 weeks ago while shaving. Went to my primary after New Years who ordered blood work including TSH and ultrasound. All blood work came back normal, but the ultrasound showed a cystic-appearing mass measuring 5.7 x 4.7 x 2.5 cm within the right lobe of the thyroid. Within this larger cyst is a solid component measuring 1.4 x 0.9 x 0.9 cm. Week later I had my ultrasound guided biopsy. The second ultrasound showed that there is a predominantly cystic mass with scattered echogenicities and without internal flow measuring 7.3 x 3.8 x 2.7 cm, consistent with previous imaging. Additionally, as seen previously, there is an isoechoic heterogeneous oval 1.4 x 1.4 x 1.0 cm solid-appearing nodule within the cystic mass. So the nodule grew. The biopsy came back “Atypia of undetermined significance.” Comment from pathology reported risk of malignancy if NIFTP of 10-30%. Since my biopsy I’ve noticed No hoarseness in my voice, but a progressively enlarged thyroid with intense pain radiating to my ear. Saw two specialists just within last week who both are saying it’s fluid filled. One will aspirate only to alleviate the pain. He leans towards a second biopsy. I feel it pushing on my neck and I have to sleep on one side to alleviate the pain. The other doctor who is a surgeon will operate based on results of new blood work he ordered (antibodies, ESR, TSH, etc) and my insistence on having it removed. I am surprised that some physicians would rather monitor it, despite it being not benign. The original path report from the biopsy recommends another FNA, molecular testing or lobectomy. This has been a nightmare. I appreciate you helping out others by posting your experience. Everyone who commented here are heroes because you are helping someone who is going through this and is terrified. Thank you!!
Update: I had partial thyroidectomy in March. The final pathology report showed it was benign.
The first in detailed video i have watched that tells you the whole process of treatment as i havr all this coming up thank you
Yay that made my day so glad I can help in any kind of way! ❤️
Where did you find your mirrored cabinet? 💗it!
Its from Ikea!
How is the quality of the inside of your station. I wanted to buy that on Amazon but was worried about the quality
I love it! Ive had it for over a year so far! I open and close the drawers every day multiple times a day and its been fine. I lay a towel down inside also. I use coasters on it but even if I put my iced coffee down i havent seen any damage on the wood. Even products and spraying down with cleaners the wood has held up!
I love your style! Can you tell me where your tall mirror cabinet is from ?
Thank you!! The cabinet is from Ikea!
Your video really cheered me up. I noticed a lump on the left side of my thyroid randomly one day so I decided just to get it checked out. She sent me to get an ultrasound which came back with 3 solid hypoechoic nodules all between 1cm to 2 cm one with microcalcifications. They told me not to worry that it looked benign and they referred me to an ent on September 3rd. I don't get why they say it looks benign on the ultrasound when everything online says otherwise. Definitely need prayers.
Omg that is so stressful!! I hope everything turned out okay!!💞
@@elainedalton4529 I was diagnosed with metastatic papillary thyroid cancer that spread to 3 lymph nodes. Had my TT on October 25th. RAI January 3rd. I’m going to my scan today :( super nervous.
Youre doing amazing!! Take each day head on and you will do great. Def update me on the scan! I am going to post a 2.5 year update video very soon!
@@elainedalton4529 I’m glad this cancer doesn’t involve chemo and if it did get that bad they do tkis that don’t cause hair loss but the only reason I’m so worried is bc I’m supposed to get married soon and this pushed it back but hey it’s a story for us all. 🦋💪The RAI wasn’t so bad but I’m hoping that’s the only dosage I have to get, mine was 125. We definitely are warriors! Can’t wait to see your update video girl!
love your room!
Thank you!!!
I've had papillary carcinoma myself and i had to have a total thyroidectomy and had some lymph nodes and 3 parathyroid glands removed. I've just recently had my radioactive iodine treatment
It is great that you share your story. I just got the news that I have papillary as well, and hearing you helps with the idea that there is life after treatment. Life will be just different. Hope you are doing good, hope you are cancer free by now. Wish me luck, because I just starting this story, hope I get my surgery as soon as possible to avoid letting it spread to other areas.
I am doing okay so far! Ill know if im two years cancer free in a week! Il make an update video soon. Wishing you goood luck! You got this!
This video really helped! I got diagnosed with papillary carcinoma as well and have my thyroidectomy on the 15th. So nervous! Do you have any advise?
Lots of Ice packs! Rest. Dont try to do too much at once. Use scar cream and sunblock also on scar if in the sun! Take your meds on time always! Good luck girl!
Hi , I’m very concerned I had a thyroidectomy on March 2 n we’d I have to see the ENT dr to see if I need radio active iodine. I had 2 nodules one side of the thyroid had cancer. Which cancer idk. Your story make me feel much better.
You got this!!!
Hope your feeling better. I’m scouting UA-cam for people’s stories. I have been feeling awful. I found a pretty large lump on the left side of my thyroid. Dr ordered blood work and an ultrasound Friday. I just wanna feel alive again. Also a red head 🥰
Sending positive vibes your way!!!
So cute hun!!
Thank you!!
That’s so brutal that they didn’t give you any numbing for the biopsy. I was fortunate to be fully numbed for mine.
Sooo lucky!!!
I hope ur doing good
I am doing well I have my two year follow up next week and I will do an update video then!!
Super cute! Love your hair btw 🔥💖
Thank you so much 😀
Wow! This is awesome. I'm so excited for more videos 🥰
Love your channel! Hope you are doing well 🥰
Thank you! I have my good and bad days but no reoccurrence! so far so good :)
hey girl. I'm a year and a half out from diagnosis and treatment. I had papillary as well on the left side and a modified neck dissection as well. My scar is the whole left side of my neck. Still no more extra treatments but some reoccurrance that we are just tracking. about the pain, I was in pain for sooooo long and it took forever for my TSH to become balanced and where they wanted it. its a tough journey but youre so much stronger having gone through it, dont let anyone make you feel otherwise.
Elaine, Thanks for sharing this remarkable experience. I came across you because was searching Red Hair eyebrow help 😎 and that video is super helpful actually, but I think you look lovely without ANY makeup in your thyroid surgery preop. I know we all have different preferences for makeup but you do look lovely with no makeup. Know that. 🌺♥️ I can’t imagine trying salt free diet, but it’s great to have your tips... ha. The one LäraBar!
Youre amazing! Thank you so much! I hope to start posting more now that Im feeling better!
