Record Breaking Attempt Fuel'aConda to Hutton Orbital (Elite Dangerous) New 6c SuperCruise Overdrive
My second attempt at a WR time to Hutton with the new SCO Drive in Elite Dangerous. Great new FSD but poorly executed as its thirsty and hot (8700% heat) All heatsinks w/ammo capacity. Tongue in cheek title and the whole point of this was how far can you get in one big go, not an actual try of it. o7 CMDRS

One thing I understood: our fears about 100% overheat senseless are. More confident must be you. In ship we trust.
Me accepting that love isn't for me.
5000% heat level
I made it, but not this ship
imagine being interdicted by some ganker while doing this.
No chance of hitting me, was all over the place
A shooting star, that's what you are.
I had a very similar idea. Thanks for saving me the outfitting/rebuy costs XD I'm sure the plates from your SCO will make a fine mug. ^^
Haha yes true, it wad a tongue in cheek effort tbh
how high is the jump range?
Usually when outfitted as my exploration Anaconda I get 77Ly
Short bursts. Maybe. Nice try. Better luck next time.
Plot twist: you TAB key gave up before you could disengage
Yikes, I can understand the heat and fuel usage, but the jerking around is just stupid, Frontier should remove that.
i thought it was 0.21 light seconds at the start 😭😭
Funnily enough, a Reddit user found out that the heat generated by SCO is tied to the games framerate. Thus, if you run the game at a lower framerate, you probably wouldn't need heat sinks at all.
been fixed
You can imagine my immediate panic when i only have about a days worth of time in this game, i accidentally get this FSD, then proceed to push the wrong button... Fun times indeed
O wow you new? Welcome aboard CMDR o7
That heat output ... you must be registering as a new star on the sensors of other ships.
theoretically, you would be vaporized in a matter of seconds-
Interdiction made easy.
8783% heat is insane
Maybe a cutter synthetizing heatsinks in the journey would go farther
I definitely smell burnt popcorn.
Still not as hot as AZ is gonna be in a few months
Do not target any thing in super cruse you got better speed and fly stability.
Clearly not a huge difference maker..
This might be the first unironical good use of synthezized heatsinks which can hold up to 30% more heat.
I keep imagining those heat sinks hurtling towards Hutton Orbital at 3,000c. RIP Hutton.
"Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space! (...) I dare to assume you ignorant jackasses know that space is empty! Once you fire this hunk of metal, it keeps going 'till it hits something! That can be a ship, or the planet behind that ship. It might go off into deep space and hit somebody else in ten thousand years. If you pull the trigger on this, you are ruining someone's day, somewhere and sometime"
they dont, supercruise is pretty similar to Trek Warp the ship itself isnt realy moving 3000c. The sinks leave the frameshift bubble and then move with whatever speed the ship was going in the fsd charge phase
@@cmdr501generalvenator3 so a white glowing wolfram block at ~ 300m/s or 1080km/h or mach 1. So 45000 J / kg On the other side stations should be shielded against micro asteroids so no problem I guess.
@@cmdr501generalvenator3 literally told him that on another comment he left on another vid. Im just shocked to find him here too
Wow, a module as crappy as the Odyssey release was.
8.7k Thermal Universal Record!
We've been trying to reach you about your FSD extended warranty...
Lost a bit of time at the start hugging the planet.
The pre engineered sirius heat sink launchers from the technology Broker at the Megaship in the Luyten's star system have an ammo clip size of 4 instead of just 3 from the manually engineered Heat sink launchers.
Didnt even know they exist Thanks!
Oof. Looks like it has a max speed then. Need to equip with all Sirius Heat Sink Launchers.
I am amazed that the FSD didn't fail and drop out of supercruise while all your modules melted.
You can actually turn it on and then off on 99%, then again on cooldown, so you dont loose much speed
Yeah was mainly for memes and science in this run
a bit turbulent
My CMDR in Raxla, please bind the Heatsink key and stop switching between fire groups
Yeah I know it's the V button all good
Type 9 would of got your further or a cutter.
This must be a prototype, and there must be another version, or something else coming to go along with this. Just seems too problematic to be of real use.
Its great for short bursts, like getting off a planet or getting past gravity wells.
It works well in short bursts. Getting out of gravity wells is instant, and getting off of planets takes a few seconds.
I think it's 'intended' use is for short burst quick escapes (i think the galnet news article even said as to help evade thargons in SC), and the penalties are there to prevent it being used for things like getting to hutton orbital quickly.
As of today (11 may) i litteraly tried that but guess what? My SCO was A grade. So now we have E-A grade SCOs EDIT: forgot to mention that these seem to generate les heat but im not sure
@@freekeess9245 Well, I rather think that it is just a prototype, a well done method from the devs to test out something new. If this system is successful, they might bring out a next prototype or a commercial FSD that behaves much better.
this new addition to the game seems rather fn pointless. just something for memes...
It works to get you to a far-out Titan without getting interdicted by Thargoids. But you'll probably need a guardian fsd booster to get into the system in the first place and then the malstrom gobbles up the booster, so in order to get back, you need to jump to a near-by system and repair the booster there. For the ones I tried, there were no routes available to get into the Titan system without a booster. And that means sacrificing a module slot which might overwise increase survivability. Still less of a hassle than a dozen interdictions.
@@psyantologist i suppose. i haven't gotten into thargoid fighting just yet, so i'll have to take your word for it.
Why used TWO heat sink? One is enough to keep the heat down. Why Overcharged powerplant? You just make the heat worse. Use regular A powerplant or engineer it to low emisisons. Turn off everything which is not neccessary, and fire ONE heat sink. With it you can easily clear 1 million ls in a conda, untill you run out of fuel mostly, after that you can continue in regular SC. It will cut down the time with about 25-30 mins, 1/3 of the route. It will still take about a hour.
Yea it was ny 2nd ever run and a tongue in cheek title. Knew what the result was gonna be before I left lol just abit of fun o7
@@comfortsnail6342 I hope since then you reached a million ls, commaner :) o7
@@Neo-vz8nh i really don't think having a low emissions is going to do much for heat Fdev have currently released it like this as experimental so maybe one day o7
@@comfortsnail6342 depends on the ship, but the usually not worth the material. Unengineered A is the best. Experimental or not, I doubt it will ever change, but lets hope I am wrong.
@@Neo-vz8nh I was at 8700% heat eventually lol was just abit of fun and loads of people have told me 'oh G5 low emissions would help' because it wouldn't of helped there lol, just abit of fun though ay
The following text is based on my experience traveling to Hutton Orbital using an SCO one (1) time. Be sure to take it with a ton or two of salt. It should be noted that lower class FSD SCOs have a higher max speed. A 2c SCO hauler can get around 4.5k c from my experience. It also has the benefit of lower heat, a single heatsink could give me a solid 10-15 or so seconds of max speed. Fuel is obviously a concern, though. Doing the SCO in “bursts” might not be worth it all the time was well, as when you’re going at high super cruise speeds (1k+) you first slow down a bit before speeding up. Since it can take a few seconds to reach back up to where you were, you’ve already fallen behind and need to spend a couple seconds more in boost to overtake your previous position. This does have the benefit of increased speed during your slowdown, if you boost long enough you’d still be above the regular limit for a couple seconds after turning it off. My theory is that there should be a ship with a low enough class FSD where the SCO has a high limit, but has enough modules space for fuel tanks and heat sinks.
i saw that some Smaller Ships did use way less Fuel, i think, the Smaler the SCO is, the more efficient it is, while Ovedrive...
@@RatziFatziThere is definitely a correlation between FSD SCO size and fuel consumption. As we can see in the video, the 6c FSD reaches a max consumption rate of 3,697.57. Meanwhile, a 2c FSD only reaches a max of 529.18. I might do some science and find the values of other FSDs. Of course, it could also be due to mass size influencing the fuel consumption. More data needed.
@@Goofierknot i wonder... It might be More Useful a Small FSC SCO in a Large Ship, than a Large FCS SCO... In a Larger Ship, you can Transport much more Fuel, while keeping a Lower Fuel Consumption... But the Question is, whats the Lowest you could Build in a Large Class Ship
@@RatziFatzi Unfortunately, it seems Fdev already thought of this, and you can’t use lower class FSD SCO, only the max class available. Anything lower says “INCOMPATIBLE SLOT”. So, sadly, you can’t put a 2c FSD SCO on a fuel-aconda. Would be cool though.
@@Goofierknot yeah would be Really cool... Sacrifice more Jump Range for better overcharge... Maybe... They will consider this, in another Update... But now... We have to wait
Please use the FSD responsibly.
I had the same idea, but, the end result is the "record breaking" run isn't going to be much faster than a standard boring run at all since surviving boosting after you run out of heat sinks is just short bits of speed barely above full ahead.
p.s. this was in an ice cube fully engineered ship, you can't overcome the heat of the SCO.
@@eetack It is good to leave the star. Very far from the star when you go with 1500c without SCO already, you won't gain much speed with SCO.
Yea it was abit of a tongue in cheek title from me and wad aware it would end in failure haha was for science
Actually it might help at approach as the ship slows down
Did you G5 Low Emissions your PP?
You can have a ship that cruises at 14% heat, and it won't make a difference. From experience.....
@@eetack I've had a great experience with a G5 Cold Courier. I haven't worked with large ships, though.
you can see in the video that the PP was overcharged, which make the heat worse.
Yes all this is correct it was more of a tongue in cheek title and my second ever run with the SCO active. It probably still not possible with some smarter Engineering but am I fuck flying to them all again I've had my fill of that haha o7
@@comfortsnail6342 There are some ships with specialies builds which are really close to handle the heat, but not tried everyship with engineering. It is possible that there are ships which can handle the heat is engineered and spcialised well. Also possible that the heat generation is just too many. It is a hard question as different FSD class generate different heat, and different ships has different heat management.
SCO FSD do be like: _Do I fly a futuristic space ship or am I riding an angry bull?_
Frontier development: Yes.
You're flying an angry, futuristic space bull. :P
Looks like Ill bin the plan for a trip to get my hutton mug, thanks for your sacrifice ;)
Unless u can find an Anaconda with 4 times the utility mounts and thrice the optional internal space it's still 1hr25 mins lol, did it for science!!
@@comfortsnail6342 I think the free Anaconda you get at Hutton has that
@@comfortsnail6342 the Anaconda is maybe not the good ship for that. You reached 3150c and you fuel consumption was up to 3697.57/h. A Sidewinder can reach 4600c for 265.33/h fuel consumption. I mean not all ships behave equaly and more tests have to be performed. One last note, you don't need to sacrifice, even for the science 😀
only Fdev could F up something so exiting to the game could have been amazing but no lets make it puke invoking modal malfunction simulator 👌
Fdev don't respect the time we spend on their game. Everything takes ages now this comes along as a time saver and it has waaaay too many drawbacks
If there's one thing that's certain about the game, is that people will just whine and whine and whine about everything.
@@DjVortex-w we whine in silence as fdev never listen anyways just hate seeing useless trash added to the game that could have been something useful and game changing allot of work went into this and no one Sayed hold on a min 🥴
@@MyJam1981 And whining in the comment sections of random youtube videos is going to help? Besides, just because you might not find a use for the new module doesn't mean it isn't useful. The world doesn't revolve around you. Stop whining. It's pathetic.
@@DjVortex-w stop crying telling people what to do in random youtube comments at least my comment was relevent to the subject I don't care about your feelings they hurt u not me 😂
Keep the heat and fuel use. Lose the ridiculous, uncontrollable interdiction effect. Other than that, this module has absolutely no practical purpose whatsoever.
I dont know, it seems like a bit of fun, you can get around faster, could be useful, though Hutton Orbital seems a little too long for it.
@@y_ffordd All they have to do is remove the idiotic interdiction effect and it would be perfect. As the module is now, you are trading 1 positive effect (speed) for 3 negative effects (heat, fuel use, interdiction effect). It also does not work with supercruise assist. Not worth it.
@@douglasharbert3340 basically this entire FSD is geared around the AX cold orbiter build. it's useful for using for 12-15 seconds which will get you about 20-25 kLs, which one or two times is enough to get out to certain Titans that are located a fair distance away from their primaries. And the only reason this even exists is because A) Fdev stupidly located some of their Titans that far from the primary. B) Made interdiction in titan systems insane where going even 5kLs can take 5-10 minutes because you get interdicted anywhere from 1-7 times depending on luck.
The uncontrollable interdiction effect is too many, it should be milder. Also it should be engineeringable as the current jump range is way too low (40% compared to engineered A). However you can go up to 1 million ls with it in a few mins in a specialised Conda, which is enought to reach most of the distant companions.
