It’s Oakland Cemetery
@johnmontgomery3470 yes name escaped me
I'm the 8th cousin of Burl Ive's through Roswell Ives from wellsboro, Pennsylvania
@@robertkumm8480 awesome
Did Burl Ive's ever have a star on the sidewalk of stars???
Good question. That I don't know. You'd like to think he did
I just googled and yes he does have a star on the walk of fame
Soon I will call there chamber of commerce in LA and find out more information.
Most of the Ive's family are buried in Pennsylvania
I went to grade school with Sandra Ives who was related to Adlai Stevenson. Wonder whatever happened to her
my grandparents on my mom side are buried in Camp Butler Springfield Illinois I miss them very much
Are any of your relatives buried in this cemetery? Are any of the tombstones in this cemetery in disrepair?
No relatives some are unreasonable now
God bless Mr and Mrs Avery Shepherd .
Thanks
Have you been to the Concordia Cemetery
I'm not sure where that is
@@kevinlowery3107 In El Paso Texas
Oh no don't go that far
I'll never forget his great performance as Big Daddy in Cat On AHot Tin Roof.
All are destined for the mound! D:
Yes we are
In your other video of a Roanoke cemetery, you actually got Christian and Elizabeth Gish, who are both in my family tree. Thanks!
Awesome you're welcome
Loved walking in Evergreen and going for the Historical walks.
I've been to all of them but the very first cemetery walk only because wasn't publicized and was only 1 weekend then. Thing I miss was way back then groups were much smaller and more interaction with the speakers. Now groups are like 40 to a group
Friends of mine live right by the entrance
Would that be Godbys
@@kevinlowery3107 it sure is!
Im from Bloomington and have known for years.
What town was he from?
Hunt city, Illinois
Not far at all from where he's buried
I recall his early part in the movies, " So dear to my heart." A Disney production. Also "Summer Magic." I favor his singing "The Fox." and "Jimmie Crack Corn "!
That's great
😢😢😢
It used to sit at the actual site where he was killed. They moved it here for some reason around 5 years ago
I recognized my great grandmas last name of ‘Hainline’ on their. Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome
@@kevinlowery3107 I would love to know if you have you ever been to Mount Joy Cemetery in Atlanta, or to Minier Cemetery in Minier, or Oak View Cemetery near Armington. I have family buried in both cemeteries.
I've been to Atlanta Illinois and think I've been to the others but not 100% sure. I know been to one in Armington a few years ago. As for minier not sure. Will have to go there. Been a little busy in cardio rehab since my heart attack January 6
@@kevinlowery3107 Did you film your experience when you were at either cemetery? And Minier Cemetery is big. Definitely worth checking out!
Yes I did. May not have covered every stone. Was just at Tremont Illinois did video there and a small cemetery out rt 9. Will work on getting to minier. I've been to Stanford Illinois one.
In the beginning of the video is where the longest owners of my home are buried. The waldrons owned it for 40 years and buried next to Tyler smith was another young kid named Gary, the opening shot is his grave. I’ve visited the graves before to pay respects
That's awesome, thanks for letting me know
I will always remember how, as a boy from GenX, I was introduced to Burl Ives... Narrating Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer... He seemed like an old uncle who we all sat around, here in rural Georgia, when it was Christmas time and he would tell stories. There will never be another whose caliber of storytelling will echo long past his time on this earth.
Hello, where are his children now? I heard he was married twice
I'm under Roswell Ive's ok
My favorite Burl Ives role was 'Sam the Snowman' in 'Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer.'
Me too. I'm old enough to see the very first time it was on.
@kevinlowery3107 Me too. Always looked forward to Frostie, Rudolph, Snoopy, The Grinch and Baby New Year as a kid.
My aunt told me she was related to Burl Ives.
Cool
2 years ago I found out on UA-cam that the song "Ghost Riders in the Sky" was his, I didn't know before. I've wanted to know for a long time. Thanks for the video! RIP, B. Ives
Didn't know either thought it was the riders of the purple sage song
Yes I just Google it was 1949 when Burl made the song. Thanks for letting me know.
@@kevinlowery3107 you're welcome!

Still don't believe it myself.
My grandparents are from Fairfield, Il.
Cool
I was there and left the picture of burl ives and james dean
Awesome
Burl Ives was my 8th cousin. His grandparents were from Around wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
Awesome
You missed one of the more famous headstones in that cemetery. Ambassador Nicholas A. Veliotes. I don't think he has passed away yet but his headstone is there. He served as ambassador to Jordan and Egypt. His wife was from the Armington area.
Yes I had no idea
Sorry not sure. Maybe the office knows who has their names.
Unfortunately there is no office there
I knew George White. He was a member of the YMCA. Super really nice guy. I was living in WI at the time when he passed. I drove out there one day after that and found where he was interred. Very few people know about that cemetery. I didn't know the Walker's are there also. I'll have to see if findagrave has those.
That's nice you went
I found that cemetery some 40 years ago. There's also a revolutionary war soldier there too
My cousin David Blunk lives in the old train station in Danvers. He and Sharon many years back moved from Bloomington/Normal to renovate and live in the old depot. Dave is quite the guy. We visited this very cemetery and also some of the old Illinois Central and supporting right of ways. Thanks for bring back some memories of past family reunion.
Ah always wondered who lived there. We lived on south exchange st from 1993 to 2004
It’s Oakland Cemetery.
Dang typos. Thanks
My great-grandfather (ggf), Samuel Montgomery, a furniture maker who later became an undertaker, disinterred Anne's remains from the Old Concord cemetery and buried her here. I might add that my ggf did this with his own funds because where she was buried at the Old Concord cemetery was in a state of unsightliness. By the way, My father and other relatives are buried at the same cemetery.
Very interesting
When I was there many stones unreadable but all in all wasn't in bad shape, someone must cut grass
I have 4 short films circa 1945 that are part of a little miss sunbeam film series. I have episodes 1,2,7,&13. 1)..."It's a Lovely Day" 2)... "Bali-Bali" 7)...."Two Magic Words" 13).... "Let it Rain". I also have a smaller film that is a 20 second commercial spot for Sunbeam Bread "Sunny Shells" Desert shells. Trying to learn more about these made for TV Films if anyone has ever heard of them before. All are produced by MGM Telestudios at Walter Engel Studios.
That's cool. Never knew that
I was raised in Robinson, Illinois, and I always wanted to go to the cemetery. Thank you for sharing. I now live in Indiana. Is his wife buried nearby?
I believe so but don't really remember been a few years since I was there
How cold was it when you recorded this video?
Don't recall
@@kevinlowery3107 I'm sorry to hear that. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Do you plan to post more videos like this in the near future?
@@speedlearner yes I do
@@kevinlowery3107 I'll be looking forward to them. In the meantime, have you ever seen the blue sign in front of the Dunlap house in Middletown Illinois?
Yes I did
Who founded this Cemetery?
No idea
@@kevinlowery3107 I hope someday you're able to find out. It would be a fascinating story to share on UA-cam.
Don't get that way very often
How many people are buried in this cemetery so far?
All of them
Are any of your relatives buried in this cemetery?
What cemetery are you referring to
No
@@kevinlowery3107 The cemetery in this video.
No I don't
At the 1:25 mark of this video you show a Looking For Lincoln wayside marker. I know a lot about this marker. If you want to know more about this marker, feel free to contact me.
What's the story on it
@@kevinlowery3107 There are 215 of these signs scattered across the state of Illinois. There are seals attached to each of the signs. Each seal is engraved with a different image. Kids are supposed to pencil rub the seals for souvenirs. If you want to know where the other signs are at, feel free to visit my UA-cam channel.
I know that cemetery is haunted
Wow
Why
Just an unbelievable story, just shows how messed up this world has been for centuries:
Yes crazy world
Do you live in Minonk?
No normal
why gorgeous grave
Yes it's beautiful for sure
What did Burl Ives do for a living OUTSIDE Christmas season?
He was a folk singer and actor
thank you for shown me this. i loved him in the big country. hello from Dublin Ireland.

Would love to visit Ireland someday
Her name was Mildred Hallmark . She died June 17th 1935 . Burial was at St Mary's Cemetery East Peoria . She was only 19 . She can be found on findagrave
Thanks
@@kevinlowery3107 You are so welcome ❤
In addition to his voice and singing, he did a great job acting in the movie The Big Country.
Yes he did
Those stones can be reset, cleaned, and protected from further damage fairly easily by volunteers who know how to do proper conservation of historic graves. We would just need permission from a relative or from whoever owns the cemetery.
I don't think anyone takes care of it. It's way back at least a mile from the road between 2 farm fields. You can't see it from the road
You have the Bishop Family Cemetery on your video. At least 28 people are buried there. Family, friends, and neighbors. It does need cleaning up. But you can find it and the names of those known buried there on Find-A-Grave. Whoever owns the property is suppose to keep it in good shape and allow easy access to the graves for anyone wishing to visit.
Thanks
It's definitely not in good condition to get in. Weeds and overgrown bushes over some graves
Why was she moved?
That I don't really know. Good question Maybe Google it. Thanks for the question
I wish you would have shown more at the Secor cemetery. Lori Segerman / Ballard was my 2nd cousin. My mother Tina (Lohr) is also buried in the Secor cemetery as well. I am Tina Tornow's eldest child. Your wife should know who Tina is.
Yeah for some reason my phone was acting up. We got new phones now and I'll go back. I had planned on showing more. My wife was a classmate of Lori. I'll try to find Tina do you know about where she's buried?
@@kevinlowery3107 oh gosh I haven't been there since her funeral in 2013.. All I can remember is that it was semi-close to the middle of the cemetery. We entered at the last entrance if u are heading towards Eureka, took a left and ended up kind of parallel to hwy 24 so I'm assuming the she's close to the front/center portion parallel to the highway.
She's on an end in the kinda new part was glad to go do it for you
Thank you. Lots of My Bray/ Price/Anderson Family and Moms Ashes are there and I can’t find the Hieronymus Cemetary. I’m heartbroken
