Gulf Guardian Coming May 21
On May 21st, 2024 the @HeatblurSimulations F-4E Phantom II will be released into #dcsworld
I am thrilled to announce that Gulf Guardian, my new F-4E mission, will be included with the module upon release.
This mission is inspired by events in the Persian Gulf that occurred in the 1980's. After a US Navy ship is hit by a wayward missile, the President deploys the 68th Tactical Fighter Squadron to the region in an attempt to calm the tensions.
Filled with realistic voice overs, immersive ATC and AWACS taskings, this mission may push your abilities to the limit. In-game options such as immortality, easier adversaries and skip-to push can aid you as you learn about flying the F-4, and allows you to tailor your gameplay experience to suit your style.
Make sure to read and understand the included Gulf Guardian In-Flight Guide and your mission briefings before you step to your jet.
The first combat air patrol is scheduled for daybreak. Be ready for anything!
Don't have the F-4E preordered yet? Get it prior to release and save $20 bucks! store.heatblur.com/products/dcs-f-4-phantom

Good day, eh! Sedlo here rocking the PMDG 737 in MSFS2020. I haven't flown this bird in ages, and it shows! Lots of cool features have been added, but the main one I like is the EFB. Wow, that's cool. Anyway, just a quickie departure from CYYJ destination KLAS. Not sure if I'll post the landing video yet... so don't stay tuned.

Really love your stuff. Really looking forward to it, thank you! Do you update your BFM and Weapons Trainer on Day1 ? Or is it updated, already?
Not yet!
Not yet! It will be updated in or shortly after release day.
I guess my own mission making hobby of DCS is going to be on hold for a while as I play through these campaigns for the F-4!! LOL
That Spook logo with the shield at the end is awesome!
Thanks!
Bravo! Can't wait!
Looks sleek 😋
Is that tally mouses voice I hear lol

Tested the mission a few times, it's so much fun! Great work!
Thanks, Reflected!
That is great news, sir!! :)
I hope so!

Yup
Time to clear the dust out of PG. Phantom Phorever!
Phully agree!
I'm leaving the door open to the possibility. But if it does happen, it'll be a long while.
Nice!! Cant't wait to give it a try
When you do please let me know how you found it!
@Sedlo, you absolute mad man. Your mission on module release. Congrats! This’ll be the first mission I jump in on, after the tutorial/training missions 😬 Keep up the great work.
I hope that it lives up to expectation! Lots of content in release, that’s what one thing I think will really be awesome.
Ahh, I was waiting for you to break the silence ;) Looking forward to it! Your missions are one of the best in the community o7!
Thanks! There are going to be quite a few different missions from some talented mission makers. Stay tuned!

Good idea
Yup!
Nice!
It is!
thanks
Hey, nice video! Where would I find that frequency line up card? It doesn't show up on my kneeboard. Is it a mod?
The kneeboard cards are added by the mission maker.
@@sedlo gotcha, thanks!
I see a campaign by Sedlo... I download!
I hope you enjoy it! ;-)
Hi, nice video- good flying! How do you get the ratings, what setup is needed for that? Thanks!
No set up, just need to download and fly Bankler’s Case I Trainer. It’s in the DCS Forums.
@@sedlo Thank you,I will try it out, just put it in the ".miz" folder, I think- I never used a mod.
@@user-ui5rr4ke8j It's not a mod, just a mission! Yeah, put it in your Saved Games/Missions folder and then select it in-game.
Very helpful.Thanks 🫡
Imho what U should add at the end, it's a pretty heavy compression..this will level the higher peaks and will bring up some background noises! ;)
Agree! That is a good idea.
The term for when you hear your own voice in the headset is called Sidetone. It's there to help people not yell into microphones. Without a headset on, most people can hear themselves, with a headset, that sound is muffled, and it was found most people spoke too loudly to compensate for this. It also gives assurances the microphone is working. ;)
That’s the one! I had a brain fart while recording :). Yeah, sidetone is the one, thank you @azza276Gaming!
@@sedlo Yeah, we all have those moments. :) Happy to help. Also about the 400Hz, what you said is correct, aircraft AC power runs at 400Hz. Though with modern comms equipment, this is mostly filtered out. Another aspect that might add to the atmosphere is a little white noise, from the engines and air vents. Think about when you're in an airliner, that hum and air vent noise, that is hard to filter out entirely.
@@Azza276Gaming Very good call! Thank you!
It's nice to see how similiar the processes are between different people! I create a second channel of noise, not the tone as you do, and apply more effect, but it's esentially the same! :)
Totally! Yeah, I like that 400hz hum for the heavies. ;) It depends what I’m doing, sometimes I will add some static white noise to the transmission as well if I want to simulate it coming from further away or with less power. Occasionally, a little bit low pass filter helps as well.
@@sedlo Yes, I noticed we have different versions, I use a filter named "dominic mazzoni" for the high pass, amplify after that and later add noise and equalize it until I like it. Add some glitches and mix it in a single mono ogg file. I don't feel that much the distortion ED adds, but what I notice is a much lesser volume of the files in game, so I tend to make "too loud" files, and let the player control it with the radio volume.
Hey Sedlo, thanks for this, what about adding a squelch tone at each end? Is that possible?
Well, you can find a clip of it somewhere online and record it, or even in-game. Then open that file in Audacity, copy it and paste it into your file wherever you want it.
Thanks Sedlo! That was fast!
@@HercNav that’s what sh…..
never learn how to work the grid. thanks for the session. Any comments on 9 Lines while in VR
That's a tough one... Esc and Message History I think is best.
Thanks for the tip. I'm going to vent because to me it just feels like ED doesn't care about it's mission creators. The community is the only reason this game has anything to do at all and we can't even get templates for static emplacements. They are releasing the UH-47 but the community is the one the has created the logistic system. You might as well get the Hip, because at least the Hip can carry weapons. They only seem interested in creating shiny new modules, maps, and graphical stuff because it looks pretty. AND NOW I'LL NEVER GET MY PRECIOUS AV/8B+ EDIT: Not to mention a 3D editor. I don't know how many times I've placed a unit I thought was in a good place but due to having a 2D map it was not a good spot.
Never say never... I am willing to be there is a lot going on behind the scenes to make things work out. The last year we've gotten a lot of improvements to the core game (Multi threading, DLSS, mission editor improvements). I am somewhat optimistic ;-)
But also.. I understand the frustration, too!
@@sedlo Just curious, I assume you have experience with other game editors? My only other experience comes from Arma, while not perfect, is really great. At least I can create a FOB and save it as a static so I can move it to other places on the map or even OTHER maps. With Bohemia Interactive, they give tools to their community to help improve the game. Just imagine with our community could accomplish if ED was a little more open. I'm not going anywhere, DCS is one of my favorite games and even if they shut down tomorrow I'd still play. This is just coming out of passion for the game I guess.
@@Dionysus2009 I hear you. I haven’t used any other mission editor except for Open Falcon / BMS. I would certainly welcome more tools for mission editor people, and a refresh of the editor itself. I think maybe an advance mode which opens up more parts of the scripting engine that you can access via the GUI. I would love to see that, would less scripting which means more people would get into making more missions :-) Also, not related to your comment here, just me editorializing. The thing is if ED goes under, we will have like 3 days to play. Then authorization is required again. There are a lot of people planning to ‘boycott’ early access. That means financial pressure on ED which is never good for any company. I am not sure it’s a recipe for getting what they want.
@@sedlo yeah I think the major hurdle for getting more people into creating missions is the fact you have to script somethings. I don't think it's very hard, it just takes a lot of time for me because I always make mistakes that I have to correct. My biggest hurdle for creating missions is the storyline. I'm really bad at dialogue and stuff like that. If I just used my military experience we would just discuss who would win a brown bear or a gorilla, or what's the lowest dollar amount you'd do something gay for. With that 3 days authoritarian if they go under, they could always remove it. I believe Wags has said that's an option, but I could be wrong. Anyways, thanks for listening to my venting.
Thanks for the linked zone transmit tip! Concur on the ED request. How about a video on your use of Audacity to get a realistic radio ogg file?
Yeah, I can do that!
Just posted: ua-cam.com/video/fawAPUdie14/v-deo.htmlsi=f0PuRqtIJb9yyU0C Thanks for the idea!
5:23 Jibes with your notes. Jive is a different term altogether. Something jibes when it is in agreement with whatever the subject is. Here it's JTAC related. Also Gibe. Also jibe in sailing when you come about with the wind and bash your matey with the boom... Your content is excellent. Thought you may want to know this for the future. Cheers.
Thanks! It’s something we grew up saying and spelling, so it may be a regional colloquialism.
How does Stop Sound work in all of this? If your Zone is linked to your aircraft and you have other sounds setup at the same time and you want to kill one of the sounds but now All. Stop sound use to have a Name you could give the sound so when the Stop command was given you could point to that one sound. Now it has changed. What do you do Now? Remember the Play to unit sound in all of this too please.
Yeah, exactly why I don’t like using “sound to”. I am unaware if you can stop a specific sound, but I find that if you have multiple “sound to” actions in progress, one just cuts the other out. There is more city from with radio transmissions that way.
DD - have you looked at N.O.S.E. over on DCS forum? Search for the term. I linked it in another comment that got deleted so I'll presume Sedlo doesn't want links in his comments. It prevents sounds from cutting one another off when using SOUND TO ALL and is useful for mission designers looking to solve random sound triggers stepping on one another.
@@sedlo Thanks. I'm not up on the newer ME sound and I fly the Huey 99% my missions are for it. I only have the Am radio and a FM to play sound files. I do use the Sound to unit a lot. I like your Moving Zone on Player/Client tip thanks for that. Working on a mission now 2 zone enter and exit zone to start and end sound files. Your Moving zone maybe way better for a 3 zone trigger of the effects of a sinking ship sound for what I am doing. I need a Fade in and Fade out feel (sound file with the fade in and out) just needs to be triggered perfectly to get the effect. Thanks
@@MisterMannIndy don't worry, I didn't delete anything. Not sure if that's a setting on my end, but if it is I can try to turn it off.
@@MisterMannIndy I'll check it out. There was a script called DCS sqs that did something like queue the files. But I find if the sound plays AFTER I want it to then it doesn't really work for me. I'll check it out.
This is such an awesome mission, thank you so much for making it!
Afghanistan and the A-10CII the stuff of dreams!
In one of my missions, flying deep into the mountains, not even placing a linked moving zone to my wingman I could receive some radio messages, so I have to put a few as "sound to all" just to be sure the message was received, but then again, I thought it didn't work if you linked it to your own plane. Didn't you say that the players' moving zones were not working properly?
They weren't but the latest update fixed it!
@@sedlo aren't those great news?! :)
@@ashitaka74 For sure! I'm glad it's working now. Makes things a lot easier for us.
@@sedlo Can't wait to try the interactivity with weapons they shot to the player!
@@sedlo Hm. I tried the moving zone linked to player's unit and using it as a radio transmission area and when you're deep in the mountains it doesn't work well. Even with that. What I think it's absurd, because it means basically that you have the radio station travelling with you, but even with that, there were a lot of atmospherics, really low sound at times and so... So I had to go back to the sound to all for the messages where they're deep in the mountains-
Very cool. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge with others.
Thanks! I found that when I was starting out that I really needed more tutorial videos out there. Sometimes they went over the same concept, but sometimes you find someone who explains it in a certain style and it just “clicks”. The more variety out there I think can help in that way.
You're a star Sedlo, thank you for doing this.
Very useful.
is this a maneuver that 's scalable? as in turning 25º off at 36 also gets us to where we need to be at 6nm?
Possible! I haven’t tried it.
So Sedlo, what you just flew very well was a Single Side Offset Stern Conversion.
That’s the term! Thanks!
@sedlo you're welcome , keep up the good work!
