Engineering Graphics Lecture 009L Projections of Oblique Lines XII (HT, VT given, draw Proj, TL Ɵ Φ)
PROJECTIONS OF OBLIQUE LINES
This Lecture describes Projections of Oblique Lines inclined with respect to the principal planes HP and VP and illustrates the terminology used in drawing Projections of Oblique Lines.
ROTATION OF LINE METHOD
The Rotation of Line method has been explained in detail in this Lecture and the following special case has been elaborated on in the Lecture discussions:
Partial Projections of the end points of the Oblique line are given, along with information regarding the distance between the end projectors of the ends of a line, HT, VT coincidence, location of coincidence point from 1st projector of one end of the line, coordinate of end P & Q.
The Rotation of the Line method has been deployed to evaluate the Projections of the Oblique Line, and its inclinations of the projected length of the line with HP and VP (α, β).
The True length of the Oblique Line in the Front View and Top View has also been evaluated using the Rotation of the Line method. The inclinations of the True length of the line with HP and VP (Ɵ, Φ) have been determined.
Further, the following problem related to the Projections of Oblique Lines has been illustrated in this Lecture:
 The projectors of the ends of a line PQ are 85 mm apart. P is 16 mm above the H.P. while Q is 40 mm behind the V.P. The H.T. and the V.T. of the line coincide with each other on XY, between the two end projectors and 30 mm away from the projector of the end P. Draw the projections of PQ and determine its true length and inclinations with the two planes.
