Stayed there many times at "THE SMOKE HOUSE INN" back in the 80's when I was an Instructor Flight Engineer on C141A'S AND B'S.

As I recall, to save weight they weren’t equipped with thrust reversers so they have to rely on aerodynamic braking from the spoilers and wheel braking. As a result the brakes can heat up and cause what we saw. But then I’m open to correction.

Hot brakes big deal. Maybe they had an anti skid issue. In that case you can’t get on the brakes with any aggressiveness. If you do this will result every time.

I have Seen this SITUATION, on Other vid's, where the plane is landing, and a wind Gust is at A WRONG-ASS, angle, to the runway, and they have to COMPENSATE, Suddenly !! (I think it was a couple of years ago, at Heathrow, England.)

Tell me if i am correct in thinking this ,but is that aircraft design based on the old boeing 707 airliner ? Or am i way off the mark here.

My brother was stationed there in the early 70s. He didn't know it until after he had left that they flew SR71s out of there. He said he had seen them go up at night but, had no clue they were Blackbirds.

Looks like the thrust reverses may have not been working and he had to rely on the wheel brakes

Having to crab like that on final and touchdown is proof of the value of simulator time! So it was a little hard! Consider the wind he was dealing with! A blown tire still leaves him with seven!

RAF Mildenhall used to host one weekend every year for the public to watch an air show. It was very popular as some 400,000 people visited, it all stopped when problems arose in the Kosovo times. Here’s hoping the US opens the gates again. 🇬🇧🤞

Personally I think it was smoke from the tires and initial braking as he was having to crab by the looks of it on the final aporoach over the threshold.

Don't want to pay for a replacement, tower saw smoke, I saw smoke. FD is rolling, good move aircrew. just a reminder, that's why we have ground crew, they be the experts on brakes. Plus a significant portion of my personal income taxes paid for that plane
