I'm sorry that you are going through this sadness. I do feel empathy and compassion for such troubled people but for me, that has come with time. I have a nephew who has struggled with major depression his entire life and always means to get help - but doesn't. I think those feelings become a sort of normal for him and he thinks he can just push through one more time. It brings me a lot of sadness. I think it is a chemical imbalance and they become intoverted because they are embarrassed to talk about it possibly feeling that they won't be accepted. They are in so much pain because they know they have so much to be grateful for but can't seem to hang on to that feeling. I also feel that there is a stigma that you might be considered strange if you seek help for depression. To me this long journey of watching my nephew struggle with his depression ties into the concept of someone who is an alcoholic or has a drug addiction. There is nothing YOU can do to "fix it" until they want to get help, they won't. Al Anon has helped me to empathize because I think all of us think, "If i could've done this or If I'd only done that, maybe it would've made a difference ". But it wouldn't have worked because we can't live anyone's life for them. Sure, we hope, we pray and we try until the realization dawns. All we can do is hold love in our hearts and find forgiveness for ourselves in order to let it go. I think it's wonderful that you are reaching out for more understanding and my prayers are with you and your family.

Obviously you’re hurting. Suicide sucks. Figuring out how to do it and not have your loved ones effected is nearly impossible. Getting help is not easy, if it happens it’s often not long lasting. I have had many loved ones die this way and put some time into understanding how they got there, science has shown that the person doesn’t feel they belong, they don’t want to be a burden and they are brave enough to do it. My response is to try to show people are welcome and it’s ok to need support. If I don’t have it to offer I try to help them find it. The rest is up to them. Sorry you’re family is going through this, it hurts.

I think sometimes it hurts too much to think of other people. Sounds selfish. But when you are in that black abyss of pain it doesn't matter.

Sometimes you just have to face the fact that for whatever reason, the person in your life found life unbearable. They were likely also exhausted from years of pretending everything was OK. Everyone is pressured to act positive and to quit bringing everyone else down by feeling "negative". He probably thought he was doing everyone a favor by leaving. It's hard to live in this world when the act of following all norms gets too heavy. I doubt he did this lightly. Why assume he did something so extreme for shallow reasons. It doesn't work that way? Why not try some compassion?

So sorry, it is difficult. I have that anger about a relative from an entirely different situation. He was a selfish person in life and also in death. He didn't outright do himself in but his stubbornness, ego, as in refusal to listen to doctors, forced us to watch him die a very slow, months long, embarrasng for him, difficult for us as a family, and for him a needlessly painful lead-up to us having to bring is hospice for palliative care until his death. It was all so unnecessary, his personal all about him decisions definitely shortened his life.

I empathize with you, I've been there... You're hurting and that leads to anger sometimes. Please remember that life is harder for some people, you have to be really messed up to choose to take your own life, sometimes, I think people just get tired, and some have serious issues... We won't know. It does no good to be angry at the deceased...... God bless you...

I’m with you, getting my vaccines now while I still can. I’m medically compromised due to a medical situation. Got my COVID and flu vaccines last month. Thinking about the pneumonia vax next. And if you are over 50 don’t forget the shingles vax (got that last year)! Stay safe and well during these upcoming crazy years!

It still is illegal for an employer to hire an undocumented worker. If they do so penalties can be applied to the employer. In many cases those penalties are not applied but I can see that changing.

Trump can’t dismantle the Constitution. I don’t know where you hear most of this crazy stuff. There is a process for that. It is important to first establish that there is no formal independent “repeal” process for constitutional amendments. Rather, for a constitutional amendment to be “repealed,” a new amendment must be enacted that affirmatively repeals the previous amendment. This process is controlled by Article V of the US constitution and begins one of two ways. The first method involves two-thirds of both Houses of Congress proposing an Amendment to the Constitution. This does not, however, require two-thirds of the entire membership of each individual house. Instead, a quorum of two-thirds of the total membership of the houses combined must be present in order for this action to be valid. The second method involves Congress “on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States” calling a “Convention for proposing Amendments.” This means that, currently, thirty-four state legislatures would be required to call the federal government to hold a convention. Once a new Amendment is drafted by either a convention of the states or by Congress, the new amendment is proposed directly to the several states for ratification. When the proposed amendment is sent to the states, Article V provides the proposed amendment “shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress.” Accordingly, once three-fourths of the states (thirty-eight) ratify the proposed amendment under either method, the amendment is enacted and becomes part of the Constitution.
