The Two MUST KNOW Chess Endgames for Low Elo Players
As you see in the example game halfway through the video, neither player (both of which are rated over 1000) knew the endgame and took turns blundering. This should NEVER happen. These are MUST KNOW endgames. Luckily, I'm here to help. In today's video, I'll go through the two most important endgames at the low level - the rook checkmate and the pawn promotion vs lone king.

Grandmasters don't know what it's like to be 1000 Elo, I'll teach you how to actually study openings at low level. This method works! It does require effort though. What is funny, is that this has Ole Miss (who is out), South Carolina (still barely out), and Alabama (bubble team) in because their schedules *are* harder. One Independent (Notre Dame), One ACC (SMU), One Mountain West (Boise State), and no big 12. Rest are Big 10 and SEC even without Indiana. Really like the Elo system though.

    • @kesler4195
      @kesler4195 Місяць тому

      Their schedules are harder if you take out the "Blowout Saturday" D2 game. But at least this is a more objective way of showing strength of schedule rather than the committee or the talking heads on ESPN just declaring it so.

    You'd be surprised about how well 1200's/1400's can do on tournaments, i have seen 1400's beat people over 1800 multiple times + without blundering a piece in one move, only making one to zero glaring mistakes

    • @kesler4195
      @kesler4195 2 місяці тому

      I feel that, when I was 1400 I beat a 1700 in an arena...but only because he resigned in a winning position. Maybe that's a good vid for the channel lol. But the gap from 1400 to 1700 is way smaller than say 700 to 1000 imo

    You didn’t really play awful tbh, you were winning the whole time anyways, definitely some missed opportunities though But if you really want to improve at chess, you should play in blitz with increment or a rapid format so that you have more time to consider possibilities and calculate

    Everyone says don’t play bullet, but bullet sped me up so I could handle 5 minute blitz games, although in both formats I still lose many games on time. Anyway, bullet (& blitz) also exposes a player to many different openings & patterns which can be a launching point for later thought & research as how to handle those. Sure one could read some thick opening book or take an expensive Chessable lifetime repertoire opening courses & learn more methodically but how fun is that? lol. Also I tend to learn better from experience & mistakes than memorizing abstract lines for positions I’ve never played in an actual game. Finally, bullet.. like blitz… can improve one’s instinct. However, at some point longer games where time is a factor but enough so deep thought is possible is important to improving at chess. Good video. Your final mate was pretty. Ok.. you missed killer sac a couple of times… BUT now you learned to be more daring & in similar position next time, you’ll see the sac & maybe make it without any hesitation. So you did learn something! Cheers!

    With good players, they can recognize patterns and find good attacking and defending moves. However, you do tend to play with lower accuracy. You can still get high accuracy though, if you are more experienced. Good vid! Keep it up
