Combining a fascinating maritime heritage and modern creativity, Falmouth is building a name for itself as one of the South West’s leading cultural and festival destinations.Based around a thriving harbour Falmouth is gateway to the beautiful Fal River which runs through an Area Of Natural Beauty. The town is famous for its creative buzz with many art galleries displaying contemporary works and...
Croyde Beach
Переглядів 5 тис.8 років тому
Croyde beach is set in a wide sandy bay between Woolacombe and Saunton Sands beaches. Despite being a little tricky to find and in a rural setting Croyde is one of North Devon's most popular beaches - and with good reason. Not only is this one of the prettiest spots along the coast it also has the best surf. The sand at Croyde is fine and golden. Towards the shoreline this becomes firm and comp...
Chocolate Making
Переглядів 3518 років тому
In partnership with Cornish and Devonshire Cottage Holidays, the guest experience Co-Ordinator Verity took two sets of guests to I Should Coco in St Ives for an evening of chocolate making! The guests made truffles and chocolate bars with their own designs and got to see how all of the chocolate is made in the popular St Ives shop. The workshop was run by Andrea who owns the shop with her husba...
Saunton Sands
Переглядів 7 тис.8 років тому
A key component of North Devon's golden coast, Saunton Sands is a long straight sandy beach backed by the impressive Braunton Burrows a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This is a popular beach with surfers and families due to the long stretch of water perfect for swimmers and surfers and it is much more suited to beginners and intermediate surfers than the northern Croyde Bay. Robbie Williams is a fan...
Woolacombe Beach
Переглядів 3,3 тис.8 років тому
Woolacombe is a golden sandy beach, several miles long, located in the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Very popular with surfers and well-served by Woolacombe village, a bustling seaside resort. In the summer months, you will find it hard to find a spot on the beach or in the sea due to the beaches immense popularity. That being said, the beach is absolutely huge so there is ple...

MY LAST DAY! Day 23 couldn't have come any sooner! It was great weather and a really nice walk. Only just over 10 miles, myself and Andrew (Jackie had to turn around) walked from Downderry to Cawsand. Thank you all for supporting me through the last month. It has been an unforgettable experience and I have enjoyed it as a whole. There have been some very tricky days but I got through it. Its no...
Day 22

Another great day walking and a lot of fun. Sharon joined me on my walk from Talland Bay to Downderry. We both found the hills to go on forever which killed our legs. The company makes the walking a lot easier though which I love! One more day to go! Please help support me by donating some money to this link - www.gofundme.com/2bcb9h3u where I am raising money for the Crohns and Colitis ward at...

I was joined by Tara on this walk and it was great. Although the distance was short, the hills were constantly coming to try and defeat us and they managed at the end of the walk. The walk was from Polruan to Talland Bay and was only 8.4 miles! We were very happy to see my car at the end! Day 20 started off to be a challenging one. The rain makes it a lot less pleasant to walk and you find yourself becoming tired and wanting to give up quite quickly. Luckily the sun came out towards the end and I ploughed through. Apologies for the error with the sound of this when it was uploaded the first time. What a day I had! The weather was absolutely awful and this was a long walk as well. 15.9 miles in the pouring rain which also broke my phone for the day! Thankfully I had a coat :) Please help support me by donating some money to this link - www.gofundme.com/2bcb9h3u where I am raising money for the Crohns and Colitis ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital
Day 18
Переглядів 1658 років тому
My hardest walk yet. Gareth also joined me on this walk and we both were absolutely exhausted by the end of it. The walk was around 17.2 miles from St Mawes to Porthluney and was constantly up and down for the whole walk. Please help support me by donating some money to this link - www.gofundme.com/2bcb9h3u where I am raising money for the Crohns and Colitis ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital
Day 17
Переглядів 2128 років тому
Today I was joined by Gareth from Cornish Cottage Holidays. We walked from Helford to Falmouth in under 4 hours and the walk was 11.9 miles. It is fair to say that we had a speedy pace for the whole walk and it was actually my favourite walk of all time! Please remember to take a look at my donation page here - www.gofundme.com/2bcb9h3u I am walking to raise money for the Royal Cornwall Hospita...

Day 15

Today was a very long day! The walk was meant to be 12 miles but ended up being 14. The path just seemed to go on and on and Verity who joined me couldn't handle it anymore! Please help me raise money for charity by visiting my donation page. Tomorrow I will be visiting the hospital to see first hand the cause I am helping and how the money I raise will improve things. Here is the link to donat...

Its a proper village, but there is a lot of divide, I live here, grew up in Perran BUT if you don't fit the 'bullshit' status quo you aren't in 'the crowd'. Ive seen it, the visceral conduct from locals is rife. I originate 3 miles down the road and steer from pubs because your father didnt own xyz on said street. I love Cornwall, but come the fuxk along. 🤦🤷

One of my favourite UK beaches: water colour/clarity + quality/colour of sand + just the size especially when the tide goes out. Not a tropical beach by any means but the closest UK gets to one imo.

Can anyone help me trace relatives from this area. My dad was a Cornish man, John Henry (Harry) Down born 1902, his grandfather or father - not sure which, was a sign writer. He had 2 children, John and June. I was the youngest and only child from his second marriage and now aged nearly 75 born in Norfolk. We visited Cornwall when I was 9 years old, the only time I have ever been. I remember my dad taking me out somewhere close to the sea and showing me a plaque in memory of his adopted brother who had drowned after going into the sea to try and save the life of a woman who had fallen/jumped? - wearing a fur coat. This is all I can remember - it would be so nice just to say hello to another family member on my dad’s side. I loved him very much and still miss him even though he died many years ago.
